Paris goes free! WTF?!

Everyone except for that Anna Nicole judge, who was the very model of stoic jurisprudence.

And **BlueSilver ** at Cafe Society explains better what kind of break we are talking about:

I’d just like to take a moment to point out that Googling “Paris Hilton pee” returns about 1,320,000 hits.

That is impressive. Meanwhile “Vinyl Turnip asshole” only returns 824 hits. I guess the people have spoken.

IMHO they should look very carefully at that sheriff’s finances. He’s well known for accepting gifts – according to this AP story,

I don’t really give a shit about these people.

I want a cite showing what sentences this particular judge has imposed for similar crimes/courtroom conduct. That’s the only thing that can really settle the issue of whether its excessive or not.

Celebrity lawyers preening for the cameras do not count as cites.

“Vinyl Turnip jerk”, however, returns 1,234,654,754,356,445,980, 543x10x2x1.4x0.4 hits. As I am actually the L.A. county sheriff, I have no choice: here’s your bologna sandwich. And warm milk.

Yes, but given some of the insinuations on this thread and elsewhere, folks are suggesting it’s because of bribery, which I certainly can’t see Parish herself doing (her parents, maybe), and NOT because the system is somehow default weighted towards her. Hell, I agree that she might have gotten, or will get, HARSHER treatment because of her personality, which I certainly don’t call a break.

Anyone else noted yet that he’s apparently a Scientologist?

Maybe not relevant to this case, but it just adds another sprinkle of weirdness to the whole thing.

I’ve got your “bologna” and “warm milk” right here, pal.

How the times have degenerated. Used to be a judge could make his name by knocking Al Capone or Boss Tweed down to size. Now he’s stuck with nothing more than a rich, talentless nympho.

Well, all the defense attorneys (I know, for rich people) on Larry King seem to agree that what the sheriff did was not unheard of, but what the judge did was definitely unheard of.

I also believe that if this happened 10 years ago in the Clinton led days of prosperity, there would be less hatred towards her.

Time trouble I see. We (at least that is what I see here) are having this thread because something fishy did happen, what happens now or next with Paris is not the point.

Huh. So when the judge says the defendant shall not be allowed out on electronic monitoring, the sheriff can ignore the judge.

Must be like when I was in jail some years ago, and the judge said I should be allowed provisions for a phone call, and the jail said we can’t do that.

Well, you guys, a source has leaked what her supposed medical condition was:

From this blog.

There are several reasons why I believe the above story. For one, her storage locker that was auctioned off contained tons of medical papers that talked about herpes as well as prescriptions for Valtrex. Plus, I mean, it’s Paris Hilton. If there’s anyone you’d expect to have herpes, well, you know.

Also, the statements made by the officials seems to mimick that there was something serious that the prison was unable to deal with:

Then again, I’m sure herpes aren’t exactly rare in prisons, so who knows.

This sounds dubious- I would think if they let her out for that reason, she would have gotten treatment right after release.

Uh, I don’t think I would take a blog that deals with celebrities seriously.

And, I would think releasing personal medical information would put whoever put those items on auction in hot water, AFAIK that was one of the reasons Paris used to make authorities shut down the site that was peddling those locker items. (And yes in this case I agree with Paris, so no i’m not against her, only against unjustified jail releases)

You mean the website that was recently put back up? With new stuff?

And they had scans of all kinds of medical docs, including scans of medical documents from when she had a miscarriage.

People talk, so it wouldn’t be surprising that something like this would leak, justified or not.

And now we have a miscarriage of justice? Irony?

Still not good, like **Wee Bairn ** mentions, she would have received treatment for that or if serious, it would had been an issue before sentencing.

And, as our own Qadgop the Mercotan would tell you, they have doctors to take care of sick prisoners too, shame that people in jail get free heath care and we don’t huh?

I dunno, so many of the people in this thread seem to be of the opinion that if the sentence had been for Paris to be disemboweled and let dogs eat her intestines while she watched, they’d be all for it. I mean, the hatred is just surreal, though some try to obscure it with a haze of smarmy righteousness.

Where are you people when I’m over in GD arguing with laissez faire conservatives that the rich as a class are economically fucking over the rest of us, big time? I could use a little bit of that rage against the privileged when some smarmy conservative is saying for the nth time that it doesn’t matter that an unfettered capitalist system, which is what America pretty much is right now, confers all sorts of advantages on the rich as a class, with corresponding disadvantages for the middle class and the poor.

Oh, you can’t be bothered with dull stuff about how your chances of getting medical care are being trashed while the wealthy buy their third vacation homes, or your kids have to go in hock to get an education that you were able to get on scholarships and work-study while the wealthy find new ways to pay little or nothing in the way of taxes, no you can’t be bothered with THAT. But some hare-brained heiress tries to weasel her way out of a DUI conviction and you’re ALL OVER that stuff!

How about putting some of that outrage where it’ll do some good, people? You wanna know what’s wrong with America? Look in a fucking mirror, morons!
