Any chance jail wil change Paris for the better?

What do you guys think?

This is probably the first time Paris has been punished in her life, and I’m almost certain the first that she’s had to really face the consequences for her actions. Now, her attitude going in seems to be pretty hopeful.

But then, what would a changed Paris Hilton look like? What the hell could she do with her life that would actually get her some respect? I have no idea, literally, but I was thinking that maybe she could end up doing something like going to college and getting a degree, so she might not be such an idiot. I know, she’s probably not that smart, but still.

I think this will be a good thing for her. Also we have Lindsay Lohan in “real” rehab this time. I think Lindsay is actually smart, although unable to control herself. Paris doesn’t seem quite as out of control. Firstly she is older, so she’s had her fun when she wasn’t famous, and secondly she doesn’t seem to get caught doing coke as much.

So yeah, I really do wish that Paris and Blohan make themselves into better people, because sadly, lots of young girls look up to them. Want as much as I do for a generation of 18 year-olds to as easy as they are, I don’t think it’s worth it considering how effin stupid they act.

Somehow though, I get the feeling that Paris isn’t terrible, just completely juvenile. She gets to enjoy all of the privileges of being adult with none of the drawbacks. I think she could be a decent person once she grows up though. Of course some people never grow up.

If the sentence were longer, I would say yes. 23 days in seclusion from general population? Might get boring at times, and will give you time to think. But I don’t feel that it’s enough to change a person. I’ve never been in prison, so I could be wrong. It may give her thought to not get caught next time at most. This isn’t like rock bottom for her, where as most people decide to really make a change in their life when that happens. It was only a violation of probation. While serious in the courts eyes, what’s the big deal really? Now if she ran into a car and hurt some children while intoxicated, that’s something to really make you think while locked up, this isn’t really.

Well, I’m thinking more along the lines of: this will be the first time in her adult life that she’s had an opportunity to actually reflect on her life without some kind of outside influence. I don’t know about you but Paris strikes me as the type who has to have people around her constantly. I can’t imagine her sitting around reading a book, etc…What do you think? I think this should be the first time in a very long time that she’ll have the opportunity to figure things out for herself. I dunno… my opinion on the matter. I hope she does become a better person, because that’s simply better for everyone, plus we need to get past this stage in American history of all this focus on people with no talent.

I guess it might well be the first time in her life she’s actually had to behave according to someone else’s schedule, and the first time she’s had any kind of discipline in her life.

You never know, she might come out having just that tiny bit more respect for the law. Of course, that’s probably just a pipe dream but we have to live in hope, don’t we?

Jail/prison rarely make someone “better.” They just piss you off all the more. Jail and prison guards delight in demeaning inmates–it’s a perfect formula for creating LESS respect for “the law”: major cities in California have reduced violent crime by simply caging more people. So there are two classes of people: the human class and the animal class. Prisons are overflowing, and the prison guard union dictates a lot in California politics. It’s a perfect, self-fulfilling system. If you want to be (re)-elected, you obviously have to be “tough on crime.” You don’t have to stop people from becoming violent, or even care about why they do become violent. (“Do you believe in evolution?”) No, that requires too much thinking.

But Hilton will return to a life of money, rather than unemployment or gang violence. She’ll probably just get better management–someone will keep a better eye on her.

No, there’s no chance she’ll be a better person when she’s out.

I imagine that somewhere down in that blonde abyss of a skull, she will have a minor epiphany and realize that she, too, must in the end abide by society’s rules.

But the realization will be made in such an airheaded fashion that for those of us not residing on Planet Paris, there will be no appreciable difference.

I agree with this. However, if she screws up again, like another DWI or other such violation she could get an even longer sentence. I believe if she screws up again and get’s say what Martha got, or more, it would change her behaviour. But I don’t think she is changed forever, I think she will continue to party and do things her way, don’t be surprised if you see her spending lot’s of time outside the US, like living in Greece, or some other non-US locale.

In the end, she needs to do some soul searching, and I doubt it’ll get done in solitary.

Isn’t she in the special celeb wing or something? I thought high-profile inmates like that go in a special place where they’re treated differently than the rest of the inmates.

Maybe she’ll get a full-time chauffeur?

She will probably be more careful, that’s about it.

But Paris doesn’t seem angry to begin with. Anger requires WAY too much effort to maintain and, anyway, isn’t there going to be the BIGGEST PARTY EVER! when she gets out?

Jeeze, they could give her a nail file and she’d file her nails, not saw through the bars or turn it into a shank. The Paris Hilton we had three years ago will be the Paris Hilton we’ll have fifty years from now. And I’m not sure how bad that really is. Sure, she’s a moron, but she’s not a vicious moron. Keep the car keys away from her and slip a birth control pill and some tetracycline into her Dom once a day and she’ll be fine.

Awesome take on things! That’s hilarious. And Phlosphr, there’s no way she’s going to go to Greece, or anywhere else. How else is she going to be recognized for doing absolutely nothing at all? In Greece she’ll disappear into obscurity!

I’m just thinking she may be more of an enigma than we think. If I’m wrong then that’s ok.
I mean she is such an over the top attention wh*re. I’m wondering if this stint will change her AT ALL.

“it’s Hot!” :smack:

If by ‘change’ you mean ‘give her fodder for (another) book deal,’ then yes.

Yeah you’re right. I have to wonder, is it possible for someone to be so oblivious as to the real world? Isn’t there some streak of decency in her somewhere? I like to think that she’s got some sliver of humanity and likability in her somewhere.

She was offered the chance to go the “pay jail” where she could’ve payed to have a private room, access to her laptop & cellphone, and other creature comforts, but she declinded. She is however going to be held seperatly from the other inmates for her own safety. That’s SOP when dealing with high profile inmates.

I mean, paris’ old man is loaded-he could have hired the best lawyer in beverly hills-she could have beaten the rap. i predict that the jail incident will make it into “THE SIMPLE LIFE”-and she will make another few $million off this.

While I’d like to hope this time in jail would change her, my pessimistic side says she won’t change a bit, just get a chauffeur.

And for LL, I knew she was going to end up back in rehab. I read interviews where she implied that she didn’t feel she was a alcoholic/drug addict and that she didn’t have time to go to the AA/NA meetings she should have gone to.
