Paris Hilton - Out of jail after 3 days???

MSNBC is breaking a story that she’s been released.

Keep your children off the streets.

I’m guessing she just turned sideways and stepped between the bars.

As expected, justice is served.

Maybe the inmates said they didn’t feel safe around her?

On msnbc.com it is being reported that she is being sent home for medical reasons. Her sentence got changed to 40 days house arrest. How long do you think before she whines enough to get the ankle bracelet taken off?

Medical reasons? I had no idea venereal diseases could keep a person out of jail.

You know, it would be one thing if she lived in a two bedroom apartment and had to spend 40 days holed up there (I might go crazy in my tiny apartment for that long), but I imagine she lives in a pretty plush place. I think they should have given her bathroom arrest, although even her bathroom is probably twice the size of a normal house…

I’m reminded of Professor Farnsworth after visiting Fry and Bender in Robot Prison:

Yes, I’ve spent my time in robot prison and it was a horrible experience. Thank God it’s almost over now.

That’s not the real quote, since I don’t have it memorized. Hopefully, someone will come along and set me straight.

Isn’t it nice to have money?

See, folks, the justice system works exactly as intended.

CNN’s report says that Paris reported to prison late Sunday, was released early today (Thursday) – and so gets credit for FIVE days in lockup.

CNN also reports that the main reason being publicized for Paris’s “medical issues” is that she wasn’t eating the food. My quick guess, subject to change by people who know what they’re talking about: Prison food just meets the legal minimums for foodstuffs, and Paris isn’t used to anything less than five-star grade meals.

She eats?

I’m guessing that with the kind of lifestyle she’s accustomed to, this had to hit pretty hard. She probably went into a depression, which she’s got a history of.

I have nothing against her but gee whiz- do other inmates have the option of being released early if they don’t eat the food?

CNN says she was on a hunger strike.

LOL

ETA: Ah, hell, everyone else upthread beat me to it.

I got money that says Skooter Libby doesn’t serve THAT long.

Bobby Sands is rolling over in his grave.

My quick guess is that a lawyer told her “If you don’t eat their food for a couple of days, they’ll be happy to let you go home.”

That was actually a brilliant move- not that most would die after 23 days of not eating, but the jail sure as hell doesn’t want a high profile person getting or sick or dying on them, expecially when they are there for a traffic violation.

I heard on *Countdown * that one day she did eat – she ate the cereal they served for breakfast, but not the bologna sandwich they served later. Apparently, she didn’t know what bologna was.

TMZ also mentioned that, in general, five days is the normal sentence for an offense like hers.

And when they appear to be so close to death already.

Wouldn’t it have been easier to make note of whether she ate than whether she had actually stopped eating? I’m just sayin’, is all.

So, an open admission that our justice system is broken and you can whine your way out of jail if only you are rich enough. Didn’t we have a thread a couple of days ago on what happens to most prisoners who don’t eat? They get feeding tubes, right?

It’s very depressing to think of what a travesty this is, and how all my worst thoughts about the condition of our government are completely confirmed.
