Just got back from the orthopedist. She said I have soft tissue damage (which is harder to heal than a break) and internal scarring. She gave me a referral for physical therapy.
Overlyboy definitely has the raunchy cooties - I got the sick kid call yesterday just as school was letting out. Apparently his ills started with lightheadedness and progressed to a high fever and chills. Poor kid. His fever broke around 3:30 this morning and he passed out again for another 8 hours. I don’t think I’ll ever NOT wring my hands when he’s sick, especially when his fever is high enough to make him dizzy. Poor guy was staggering like a drunken sailor; he had about a half hour before I was going to throw him into the car and get to the ER, but luckily the ibuprofen worked.
Sink is still blocked. I washed dishes this morning in an enormous, clean pot that I emptied in my back yard afterward. Guess it’s time to snake again. If that doesn’t work, time to call The Man. Danged sink. What poor timing.
Howdy Y’all! Sloth did indeed rule the day. We had some quality cee-mint pond time followed by nappage. Sup also got made and et. In a bit we shall adjourn to the back porch for cocktail time and to watch the rain come on in, as it is definitely on the way.
I talked with my youngest (and favorite, though I will deny ever sayin’ that in public) niece today. I’m goin’ to be a great uncle again. She is thirty-one and decided to go the in vitro route. Good for her, I say. Sis (her mom) is over the moon as she wants to be a grandmother so bad. She has decided her grandmother name will be mamaG. I am one of the first to know and promised not to say anything about it on social media, but I can up in here, so I did.
Sunny hope all goes well with the house stuff. Yay for sis makin’ sure mom gets what she wants on her bday!
Wheelie hope the wife is feelin’ better and it’s not the plague.
Nettie sounds like a lot of productivity to me. Then again, I am a retired sloth and a layabout. Also, how dare you disturb Buddy’s favorite sleepin’ place!
taters sounds like this person needs to have a “Come To Jesus” meetin’. Is that term a thing everywhere or just here in the southern U.S.ofA.?
Oopsie a day of total sloth must be taken seriously, so good on you for not plannin’ to do the adult thing tomorrow.
Delivered the kids to their mom, then had a supper of Mahi mahi and salad.
I don’t think I shared the latest in the in-law saga. FCD will bring them here next Weds. They’ll stay about a week and we’ll take them home the weekend of the 16-17-18. That way if they don’t like the apartment there will be time to look around. Plus FCD got them an appointment with our money guy to talk about what they might do with the proceeds from their home sale. I can’t imagine that he can do much - they’re in their 90s. so long-term investments are out of the question. But what do I know…
I’ll have both kids overnight tomorrow - SIL is taking Daughter out for an early b-day date. Dinner and a movie, sans spawn. I told them they need to reclaim them early on Sat because I have things to do. I do find it interesting that they ask me instead of his mother…
Well, on to chillage!
I’m back from the ultrasound, and the radiologist said it’s a benign cyst. Whew! Also, HOOORAY! One of breast cancer’s perpetual gifts is that no matter how rational or well-informed you are (not that I claim to be either), every lump is worrisome. Anyway, first round’s on me, Mumpers!
My daughter called last night. I assumed that since the death has been on the news, she’d have read about it. She hadn’t. That was hard news for her, and she’s concerned about his sister. Me, I want to go back in time and…I don’t know…do something.
I’m so sorry about your cousin, sari. And now that Roger Miller song is going through my head. I remember thinking it was hysterical when I was a kid. Glad you got clear communication re: medical stuff!
Cookie, does your building not require renters’ insurance? Mine does, but I don’t know how common that is.
That IS funny! And whatever happened to propeller beanies? But “kid brother” just means younger brother, at least where I’ve lived. Of course, as the Cracker Jack commercials taught us, some kids never grow up. And an early Happy Birthday to your daughter!
I’m forgetting all kinds of stuff I was going to respond to. Oh, yeah! Waves at the shady puddle.
Phooey. Plus side: both DH and I are pretty much over the plague (both of us have slight lingering coughs, which I blame on throat irritation still healing). He’s now testing negative.
Down side: I’m still testing positive.
Yeah, my bro just turned 66 and I refer to him as my baby brother!
Wonderful on the diagnosis, nellie.
My “baby sister” is now 42. But she’ll always be my baby sister.
Busy day in the shop today, I even had to bring a helper. We cranked out all 5 display boxes, feet attachments and all. Now I just need to do some laminate and deliver. The things are so big that delivery will need to be like 3 trips, cuz I ain’t gonna rent a truck for that nonsense. Then I get paid! Well, after the school district runs it through their convoluted payment process.
Getting paid is a good thing.
I’m sorry about your cousin sari. I have cousins who I’ve not seen for a few years, but still am sad when anything bad happens to them. I think that it’d be wise to find a new lawn guy.
I feel ya on the allergies JtC. I went for a shot this morning and have slothed / slept all day since.
My complex requires renter’s insurance or will add a waiver fee that costs twice as much as the premium every month cookie. You may want to read the fine print of your lease.
Congrats on becoming a great uncle again swampy! Spoil that baby rotten every chance that you get.
Yay for the medical news nellie!
As noted above, I went in for an allergy shot this morning, then came home and alternated drinking tea, eating soup, watching trash TV and sleeping. I should be feeling the effects of the shot tomorrow, but will be glad to get rid of the itchy throat, eyes and ears and start to breathing better. F!@$ ragweed!
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Great news Nellie.
Glad you and hubby are improving Nettie.
Happy birthday to FCDaughter.
Congratulations on new baby Swampy.
Red hope your shot works. Nothing worse than all you describe. I suffer daily.
We had a nice steady rain today and I love it. It has cooled off a tad bit. Had a **Jersey Mikes ** sub (#3) for supper and already abed. I have been rewatching “The Crown” in anticipation of a new season in Nov I think. Highly recommend this series. Also **Handmaid’s Tale ** has a new season next week I think. Hoping to see the launch Sat if it goes.
Stay healthy or get healthy all.
Since the Spousal Unit eats popcorn and bittersweet chocolate for dinner during the week, I was left to my own devices again. I put some frozen chicken tenderloins with Lawry’s and extra-seedy Dijon mustard, and some frozen broccoli, into the toaster oven for half an hour. Then I put Swiss cheese on the chicken, and cheddar on the broccoli and put it back in for seven minutes. It was good. Goo liked her tribute portions. The Missus had a bite of the chicken, and she liked it. I also had a Vieux Carré, and now I have wine.
Wifey asked if she should pick up a Dungeness crab for dinner tomorrow. Hell, yeah! Got my cleaver, got my rubber mallet. Just need corn onna cob.
Nellie, fantastic news on the benignity!! (Benignness? Benignosity?)
Mrs W is feeling loads better, thanks for everybody’s concern. She took her temperature and didn’t actually have a fever, just felt alternately hot and cold. And no trace of a cough or sore throat. She worked out in the back yard yesterday and came in with a few bug bites, and she thinks maybe that had something to do with it.
Whatever it was only had her down for a few hours, so I’m keeping my Red Cross appointment tomorrow.
Yay! What a relief. I’m vey glad for you.
Evening all. Calories were pedaled off (and then put right back on) and soccer has been coached. Evening will close with a hot bath and a shave to make myself reasonably presentable again.
nellie, that’s great news!!
Butters, I’m also a fan of the Jersey Mike’s #3; one of these days I’m going to try a #8 just to see if it’s as good as it sounds.
VanGo, well, hopefully you’ll get paid this year, school payment departments being what they are…
FCM, that’s a lot of driving for FCD; he really needs to plan some time off once this parental move is done.
swampy, hooray for the impending great-unclehood. I’ve got a niece and two nephews and none of them seems to be the least bit interested in making me a grand-uncle.
talkie, best wishes to overlyboy and hope he recovers soon.
“All we are saying, is give peace a chance”…
boo fae, having worn glasses nearly all my life, I know how frustrating it can be when they are done wrong. Hope they fix it without trying to charge you anymore.
OK, 10pm here so time to bathe and head off to dreamland. All y’all take care.
Yay!
I swear, you’re the kindest people on the planet. If we really WERE all together, I absolutely would buy the next round. Then I’d feed you all lasagna. I lurves you, each and every one.
Wheelie, glad Mrs. W is feeling better. And let us know how the appointment goes. I’m hoping you say it was a piece of cake. My daughter has donated blood regularly since high school. When someone rants about “Kids these days,” remind them that 16-17-year-olds comprise only 2.8% of the population but donate over 10% of the blood supply. The other 90% is from sterling individuals such as you, wheelie.
metalmouse and butters, what’s a Jersey Mike’s #3 and an #8? Mike is a loooong way from the PNW, and some of us need to live vicariously.
It’s not a tumor! Hurray, we don’t want bad things happening to you!
This is important, they need to feel like they have a choice. Out this way, we have what are called assisted living apartments. The rent pays for housekeeping, meals and alarms in every room to call for help. They don’t provide medical care of any sort, but will help someone get up or call 911.
If they are available where you are, that would mean no stove or garage with power tools.
Good luck, I’ve been down your road a couple of times. No stars, not recommended.
I called my Mother today and all was going on as normal. She likes to enter her work in the county fair, always has, but this time she came home with first place AND the exceptional excellent one.
I should have squeeled more when she told me, but as I said, everything was normal. She has promised to send that piece to me, it’s called Pandemic and she did it in charcoal and blood red floss.
I am going to hang it under a piece of artwork I bought Dad (Korea, Unfinished. It’s a group of armed military guys standing in a swamp…from the chest down. Even the work was unfinished.) I reclaimed that piece a few years ago and hung it where I could see it every day.
Hubs mowed the “pasture” (knee high red clover and grass-we had no idea how hard it would be to keep the grass out of the clover) and I saw many distressed butterflies flittering around looking for their expected clover lunch.
I’m thinking about turning half of the “pasture” into wildflowers but hubs hates any sort of yard work and is taking my clover patch as a challenge. He promised me a clover patch and by gawd, he will give me a clover patch if it kills him and there will be no compromises allowed because that will mean that the clover has won. Or something. At least it keeps him out of the bingo parlors and the bees and butterflies get food on an almost regular basis. They went to my other posies, no butterflies went hungry.
Wait, what? You feed people lasagna? Why don’t I have your address!!!
#3 is ham & provolone
#8 is a Club Sub: provolone, bacon, ham & turkey
Their cold subs are all listed here:
They have hot sandwiches and other stuff, too.
I feel like there’s a "Garfield joke here, somewhere.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
