Pass the salt in the MMP

There’s a Jersey Mikes about 15 miles from our old house and I always meant to stop in and try their Chicken Philly (#14) And their regular Philly (#17) but never got a round tuit.
I have been to Firehouse Subs and can report that their version of a Chicken Philly (you have to tell them how to make it) is excellent., if somewhat spendy. Also a bit too gooey. Tell them to hold the mayo, the cheese is sufficient.

Glad your bump was benign, Nellie.

Sorry about your ice maker, Taters. Ours peed all over the floor earlier this year and I had to shut off the water supply to it. I don’t think we can fix it however, the fridge is too old. (It’s an Admiral) The really annoying thing is, the new fridges are bigger and we’ll need to replace our side door with a bigger door to get one into the house. That’s a whole 'nother story.

There’s more, but I forget, so Hugs, yays, boos, etc. Happy Firday!

My little brother is 49. My family never used “baby” or “kid,” but he’s always my little bro. No matter how much (ok, because) he doesn’t like it.

Much like salt and pepper, I’ve never had ice cubes in my house. Never needed 'em. Whenever I move somewhere new, I take the ice cube trays out of the freezer and store them until it’s time to move out. It just occurred to me that I have no idea if my current fridge even has an ice maker. Huh.

Somehow I knew you would understand!

I still haven’t showered or put “real” clothes on (it’s just after 2:30pm), but I failed at the “total sloth” part when I woke to find an email from my volunteer committee chairman announcing that he’s decided to hold an orientation for new members this coming Sunday. It’s the first time in two years that we’ve had any critical newbie mass. About a year ago I put together a quick guide to using the committee’s Google Drive, and I saw that our summer intern put something together about how to get started with the stuff we do, so I offered to consolidate those two things and create more of a general orientation/member guide. His exact response was “NO. YOU CANNOT MAKE MY LIFE EASIER.” He mentioned needing a PowerPoint for Sunday and I offered to draft that, too. I sent both docs to him about an hour ago.

That’s how I’ve spent my day so far. I didn’t mind, though, and these days I don’t do much with my committee so I was happy to be useful (and I had time to kill).

This morning’s weather was nice enough that I could have finally sat out on the new patio for a while, but there was some construction noise from the next block and I knew it would irk me sooner rather than later. So instead I just opened some windows, and decided to make the committee-related offer. I had to close them and turn the a/c back on a little while ago (probably around the same time FCM did  ). I’m hoping tomorrow morning’s weather will be suitable! Later today I might try to assemble the Coolaroo I bought for Bailey a couple of years ago, but which stymied me at the time (and quickly stopped being worth the effort due to the uneven patio).

YAY!!! :tada: :tada:

Taters, I thought of you earlier today: I got an email from Samsung about a customer data breach. Heh (and boooo). I don’t think I own anything Samsung anymore, though several years ago my cell phone and smartwatch were both from them. Clearly my info is still in their database, but I decided long ago not to worry about these breaches.

At Mike’s my go-to is #56, which is the #17 plus jalapenos and mushrooms. But I usually hit a local spot that is close to my house for a 12" Beef, Bacon & Provolone with everything. That’s good for 2 meals and I’m supporting local business.

About a year ago one of my cats (Havoc) started yowling at the shower door whenever I took a shower. When I’d slide the door open a bit to inquire as to her difficulties, she’d stick her head in and lap up shower water. Now she’s got Caelan doing it, only he steps into the shower to do so. Well, half-in. He stays away from the spray but drinks like he has just crossed the desert. Cats is weird.

California is on fire again. Sigh.

Wifey, RN came home between patients. (Not physically between two patients. That would be weird.) I expected to find a Dungeness crab scuttling around the kitchen, but she said Barlean’s didn’t have any. I called the Lummi Seafood Market, and they have some. She’ll go get one after she’s done with her next patient. LSM is very proud of their crabs. They’re $20.99/pound. :astonished:

Howdy Y’all! I(we) did all the things today. Today has been waaaaaay to peopley for me. I have not had a chance to sloth very much at all. This shall be corrected tomorrow. Anywho, we got shorn, I did candle duth and met with IP for a little bit. We made the executive decision to go have a late N.O.L.before goin’ to wish Doris a happy bday. We went to Newk’s, which we like a lot and had hyuuuuuuuuuge grilled chikin sallits. They put a lot of nummy things in their sallits so we were both stuffded. Then we went by to wish Doris a happy bday. Now we are home. I have had enough of bein’ amongst the great unwashed to last me a few days. However, we shall be out and about over the weekend so I shall have to tolerate even more of the general public.

JtC congarats to mom on her win! May hubs win the war with the clover.

MOOOOOOM I hate it when sump’n in the freezer goes off. Glad you found some ground beast to make you skettie sauce.

Taters hope the ice maker gets repaired.

red it is always OK to give yourself some sloth time.

MetalMouse I recommend Firehouse Subs.

WetOne I second what Boo said about findin’ assistance with payin’ for the med. You will be surprised what Medicare can do sometimes.

Oopsie if you desloth to do good, then you get extra sloth karma points. This means, there will be a time you want to sloth, but feel you’re too busy. Then you remember you earned the extra karma sloth points by doin’ good and don’t feel guilty.

flyboy hope you get the crabs. HAH! I crack me up!

The platelet donation went off without a hitch today!
They avoided the left arm vein that gave them all the trouble last week. Took the blood out of my right arm and put it back into my left hand. Two quick sticks and they were in.
There was a TV with Netflix; I watched Dumb and Dumber and an episode of Seinfeld and then it was over. The hardest part was not moving my arms for two-plus hours.

So I’ve done my good deed for the day. They wanted to schedule me again for next Friday. I’m sure I’ll donate again, but no, this is not going to be a weekly thing. I urge all of you to donate platelets if you can, so maybe they won’t have to beg so much.

Taking a break. I had no idea it was so time-consuming to juice a watermelon. The juice is for cocktails I think my daughter will like. Lacking a juicer, I cut off the pulp, whirled it around in the food processor, then strained it. I had to work in batches. And it was a small melon! Also, now my kitchen is sticky.

Then I had a major butter blowout in the microwave. I don’t know what made it go all Krakatoa on me. I rested a lid on the bowl, and there was no water involved. Almost the entire interior of the microwave was coated. It took quite awhile to clean.

This cracked me up.

No swampy slot for TWO DAYS?! I thought I felt the earth slip off its axis.

I like your views and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Wheelie, glad the donation went smoothly today! I wonder if I could donate platelets. I’ll have to ask.

I do. I’m at 45 gallons and counting. Literally hundreds of platelet donations over the years.

I enjoy it. Nice little social outing, visiting with the techs, watching cable tv and then snacks! Really missed it during the locked down part of Covid.

Yes, they do bug you a lot because platelets last only a few days and there is no substitute m. Check it out, mumpers, I find it a very satisfying volunteer activity.

The crab is dead and cleaned, but the water isn’t boiling yet. I’ve sliced some tuna for sashimi.

Listening to the T-boomers outside. I had a day of mostly sloth. The shot yesterday is beginning to do its thing.

silenus, Nelson always feels the need to escort me to the shower. Even when he’s in the bedroom, he can hear when I finish brushing my teeth and take the three steps toward the tub enclosure.

Now for more sloth and watching some comedy.

Boo I sent you a PM to discuss Trelegy.

oof Halffa crab, corn onna cob, and some tuna sashimi. I also used the rest of the rye to make a double Vieux Carré. Good dinner. (Yeah, I did the killing and cooking; but cooking didn’t take any talent.) CWO2 Wifey got a 15% veteran’s discount on the crab.

Um, DUH!

“Found” for $8.99 for a 2# pack of 80/20! YOIKS!! But I won’t buy 73/27 - too fatty.

With my crappy veins, it takes for-freekin-ever to get the 2 tubes for bloodwork. So, nope on any sort of donation. Plus I have only 1 decent vein in my arm. If it craps out, I don’t know where they’ll go… :open_mouth:

It took way more effort than I expected to get the Tobester down, plus 12 oz of formula. But he’s out and Roxy’s out, and I hope I don’t disturb her when I go to bed. I let her sleep on FCD’s side of the bed so I could leave the pack-n-play in the guest room. I also hope she doesn’t sleep like her mama did - all over the place. I made the mistake of trying to nap with my daughter eons ago - holy crap was she a restless sleeper!

Anyway, the house is quiet and shortly I’ll mosey back in search of dreamland. I didn’t get nearly as much done today as I’d hoped, but there’s always tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, then the next tomorrow, I get the babby back for the day… But now, sleepy time!

MWAH!!

Evening all. 30 posts since this morning so if I miss something my apologies. Swimmin’ was swum and sauna was sweated and soccer has been coached, and I managed to get a 45-minute nap worked in there, so a successful afternoon. Games tomorrow start at 8:30am, so I’ll be up early again, coach at 8:30 and 11:00 and referee at 1:00pm. Just hope it’s not as burning hot as last week.

Never donated platelets and my veins are come-and-go, sometimes easy to find, sometimes a real pain. Will consider it if I can bring my own reading material with me.

Nice to see many folks also enjoy a trip to Jersey Mike’s; decided to eat out tonight and should have gone to try out Firehouse subs, but instead went to Wendys and was reminded why I don’t care for Wendy’s (stale tasting fries and rapidly cooling burger). Maybe I’ll remember next time.

To all my fellow MMP’ers, hugs, hopes sweets dreams and positive waves from N. Ali-bama. Catch you tomorrow post-soccer.

It is good you didn’t complain to them about it…https://www.abc15.com/news/crime/wendys-worker-charged-with-murder-after-punching-customer-in-prescott-valley

And we gots interwebz again! We had a nice storm come through an dit seems the damage to the tower hasn’t been repaired yet.

The clover patch appreciated the rain, I could see little white flowers poking their heads up. My plan for the clover patch was white clover, it only grows about three inches tall so wouldn’t need to be mowed. Hubs thought it was taking too long to grow, so bought some red clover seeds and over seeded everything. Red clover is what ranchers plant for their cattle to eat because it grows knee high. It has to be mowed.

Neither of us considered the idea that we would have issues keeping the grass out of our clover, but it does make sense. Clover fixes nitrogen to the dirt and grass likes nitrogen in their dirt.

Hurray, your arm looked kinda sore. I can’t donate anymore so I appreciate folks who donate blood products even more! Thank you for doing that, you could have saved a life today.

Thanks to everyone who congratulated her, I need to call her tomorrow and tell her. She will appreciate knowing that she is being though of kindly. Honestly though…you guys have seen my work. I don’t think its much of a brag to say that I do expert work because of course I should be doing expert work considering how long I’ve been doing it. (@LH75 's amazing quilt block is also what I would call expert work, which is seriously great because its his first time with a new tool.)

Mom is the one who taught me everything I know. If she had come in second, I would have complained about stolen elections and payoffs!

Ours got much less demanding when we bought them their fountains. Of course, GG’s fountain is out in the catio because the jerkface will NOT stop playing in water. I think running water smells better for them and slave flavored water is the best!

I survived Friday night closing shift on a holiday weekend. Only one customer had the cojones to ask why there was a long wait time.

Now Monkey has the zoomies. I can assure you fine folks: I do not.

Had scrambled eggs at 3:45 a.m. Ah, the joys of working odd hours. Hell, some of y’all are getting up by now, ya weirdos.

Off to bed, to snuggle with my Monkeyshines and assimilate these eggies.

We got a fountain because Taz was such a pain in the butt about wanting running water to drink. It hasn’t completely stopped him from following us into the bathroom, but since he’s unable to jump like he used to, he doesn’t even bother trying in the guest bathroom. But sometimes when I shower, he’ll come in, use the terlit as a stepstool, then stand on the sink and yell at me! Cats! Sheesh… :smile_cat:

I’m up, for realsies this time. I’ve been waking on and off all night, partly for whatever, partly because Roxy sleeps all over the place. She’d go from being properly aligned with her head on the pillow to turning 90° with her head butted up against my thigh. No wonder her bed looks like it does!!

Getting them down to sleep last night was a real adventure. Roxy was actually the easier one - she asked if she could “relax” which is her code word for either tablet time or TV time. I let her lay in our bed and put her requested show on our TV (Blaze and the Monster Machines) while I tended to the other little monster. I was a little concerned because SIL forgot Violet - Roxy’s dog that plays lullabies - it’s her sleep routine. But she was happy with the teddy bear I had, so she was good.

Tobias, on the other hand, was a royal pain in the patootie. I gave him an 8oz bottle, which he fell asleep drinking, then rocked him till I was sure he was out. But as soon as I lay him down, the crying started. So I took him back out and rocked him again… and again… so I finally texted my daughter for suggestions. I gave him 4 more oz (Holy crap, can that kid pack the food/formula away!!) and realized that when I lay him down, he went immediately from the warmth of being next to me to the cold of nothing. So I covered him, then lay my hand on his chest so he felt that I was there, and within a few minutes, he was out. That was a bit after 8 - it’s now just after 6 and I haven’t heard a peep from him, so huzzah!!

Meanwhile, my kitchen looks like a disaster area. I luckily saw the pot of sauce on the stove and immediately put it in the fridge right after I got the Tobester settled. I’d hate to have left it out all night. I’ll bag it today after the kids are gone. But there are dirty dishes everywhere!!

Supper was “veggie” rotini ( yanno, tri-color) with sauce, and broccoli on the side. Tobester got his usual cereal and fruit, but he wanted pasta, so I cut the twisties in half and sauced them lightly… THREE TIMES!! Granted they weren’t normal sized servings, but I swear, that boy just kept eating! Then after, he snarfed down applesauce! I don’t know how my daughter will afford to feed him as a teen if this keeps going!

Roxy ate three servings of broccoli and two of pasta and sauce, plus applesauce for dessert. She’s so fickle - sometimes she barely touches supper, sometimes she’s a little vacuum cleaner. I’m so glad she likes so many veggies - then again, she has from the start, altho we’re in her I-don’t-like-tomatoes phase right now.

After such a messy supper, I filled the tub and they played for a while, with a side benefit of cleanliness. Tobias will stand up and look at me when he’s done with the bath - kid cracks me up! It was a rasslin’ match getting him into his footie jammies. But soon they both were clean and bedded, and I had a few minutes to text with my sweetie before crashing.

He’s having such a hard time with his folks. He wants to be a good son, but they frustrate him, then he feels guilty for being upset with them. And it doesn’t help that he can only vent to me via text or an occasional phone call. C’mon Tues/Weds!!! (They’re taking parts of both days to drive here.)

So, to today’s plans. Empty and refill the dishwasher, and clean the mess that is my kitchen - that’s first. I’ve got to break out the sewing machine and alter the display cover that I made much too big, then I’ll take it to the boat and install it. I’ll probably also get out the pressure washer and do some more cleaning. Or maybe I’ll sort the life jackets and bring the older/rattier ones home. And who knows what else will need doing there - I’ll figure it out. I may or may not futz in the yard - it’s supposed to be very warm and humid today. I do have a couple of mums to plant - I got them at Aldi and I have 2 half-empty planters in front that need filling.

Enough to keep me out of trouble, I think. And I’m going to thaw another mahi-mahi fillet for supper - the one I made the other day was really good!

Are you bored yet? I am. Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 with rain later this afternoon. We shall see. After I posted yestiddy I continued to be productive. Chikin boobs and thighs got boiled so’s they can be turned into chikin sallit this mornin’, and I made an Eyetalian cream cheese sheet cake. I even deboned all the chikin after it cooled. On the plus side I have some nice chikin broth in da fridge. I shall portion it out today and freeze the broth. So, today, I shall make chikin sallit (early tomorrow mornin’ sammiches shall be made) plus a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea. All this is for first Sunday brunch after deheathenization tomorrow. JDD and Partner are comin’ over later this mornin’ as well. The plan is to hang out at the cee-mint pond for a while and then have burgers ‘n fixin’s with chips mid to late afternoon. They are bringin’ all the ingredients to make homemade strawberry ice cream, as well. So, we shall all eat good.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, business must commence! I gave up bein’ a productive member of society when I retired. Where is all this comin’ from!

Happy Sattidy Y’all!
