Pass the salt in the MMP

Kidlets are up, fed and dressed. Just waiting for their mom to claim them. Then I can shower.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not much slated for today but messing around in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Mom has reclaimed her spawn and I’m about to hop into the shower. This is why menopause exists - no one my age should have babbies!!!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 59 degrees with an expected high of 73 and mostly cloudy skies. It was actually misting a bit when I went outside at 5:30 this morning to give Polar his pills. He likes to lie on the back porch in the wee hours of the morning, so that’s where I often find him.

I was awake at 2:15 this morning but tried to sleep longer. I was unsuccessful and rolled out of bed at 3:30 am.

I had quite the spurt of productivity yesterday; vacuuming, dusting, floor washing, laundry and yard tending.

The Samsung repair technician showed up…at 4:00 pm. Damn it, it would be nice if they could give like a two-hour window, and then I could have used the afternoon to take care of some errands. Oh well. He replaced the whole icemaking unit, including the bin. The old unit was good and blocked up with ice. He said it should start producing ice within 4 hours of installation, so we’ll see if it actually did. It didn’t cost me a dime, thank goodness because after finding out how expensive it would have been to do this on my own, I would have just bought a new fridge. Seriously. A non-warranty repair would have cost over $700.00. That’s half the cost of my fridge! I just checked, and the icemaker produced ice! Yay! I like to put ice and water in my insulated water bottle, so this makes me happy. Polar also really likes ice water.

I need to clean up and head to the store this morning. I need a couple more items for Zoe’s birthday.

I hope you all have a most pleasant day!

Not sure what Buddy’s deal is, but he’s been indoors for over 48 hours now. At one point last night, I staggered out to open the patio door for him (he was fussing like he wanted out). He walked out to the patio, strolled around briefly, then came back in of his own free will.

Now if we could just get him to quit the middle-of-the-night fussing and let us sleep… DH has a theory that Buddy somehow finds it distressing to not have at least one human up.

He’s also taken to hanging out on my desk and seems to have a grudge against a book I have on there, because he’s pushed it off or tried to several times, including when I’m sitting right there.

Now that the kids are gone, productivity has taken over. While I showered, I scrubbed the shower doors and floor, so lots of clean in there! Then I gathered all the dirty towels and washcloths (both bathrooms and the kitchen) and flang them downstairs to be laundered later. I planted the two mums I bought yesterday and watered all the planters out front. I modified the display cover for the boat, and I just finished cleaning the critter fountain.

So, taking a little break before heading to the marina for a bit. I’d like to futz in the yard, but it’s so freekin’ humid already. Maybe little doses of weeding? We shall see. And I’m thinking of stopping at Aldi for a couple more mums - they’re really nice.

And in the yay me department, I’ve gotten back on my old eating plan and I’ve shed 5 of the lbs I regained. 35 more to break even… I’ve kept the fridge stocked with fruit and that helps, even tho it takes determination of steel to walk past the ice cream in the grocery store. :ice_cream: But I refuse to buy bigger clothes again. Speaking of food - I need to plan for the next week anna half. Time to inventory the meat freezer.

Sounds like a cat to me.

Onward!!

Daughter arrived last night. We each had a watermelon cocktail. We talked about L. and his great family and how weird it is to see photos of him on major news sites. The Luke we mourn is the kid we knew, the one we can still see in his eyes in more recent photos.

I’ve realized I also need to be more careful about what I post if I don’t want to face the possibility of getting doxxed. I never thought anyone would figure out who he was, which was foolish of me, and from there…I hope nobody forgets Luke, but I hope everyone forgets my posts.

Onward. I woke up to RAIN! Hooray! Daughter will be thrilled, too. She’s still sleeping. After a full, busy work day and a loooong drive, she was exhausted. It’s a lot of driving to spend just 36 hours with me, but I SO appreciate it. Today’s plans include walking and eating. She’s lost a lot of weight due to health issues and needs fattening up. Oh, and her brother is going to call today. He can’t make it in person, so we three will at least talk.

Taters, yay on the new ice maker!

Maybe he just wanted to be reassured he could get out and be free if he wanted to?

I don’t know, but it has to stop. <Puts on imaginary spectacles and peers sternly over them> Young man, where is your slothwork? You’ll never pass Advanced Retirement at this rate, you know.

I finally sat out on my new patio for a little while this morning! It was fairly comfy weather-wise, and I was all set with my iPad, Kindle, phone, my morning coffee protein shake, and my feet up, but I wasn’t happy out there for long. Can’t quite put my finger on why. Bailey seemed to feel the same: at first she loved having access to the whole yard (it’s a big yard and normally she’s on a 25’ retractable leash), but when I was ready to go back inside – after about an hour – she came right in as soon as I called her. Usually I have to bribe her with food to get her back inside. Oh well. It’s not even fall yet, so there should be several more opportunities to spend quality time out there before it gets too cold!

Today might be the day-o-sloth I’d originally planned for yesterday (which also wound up including trips to two grocery stores, because they all carry different things and I was feeling picky about my snacks and frozen sausage-and-cheese thingies, dammit). I was supposed to go to my best friends’ place later for dinner, to celebrate their son’s 21st birthday (which was Wednesday) and give him the awesome presents I bought, but just cancelled. :frowning:

I’m kinda congested/sinus-y, with what could become a sore throat. It started yesterday, after I had the windows open all morning…maybe some kind of allergy? I have two negative rapid tests in the trash, one from last night and one from about an hour ago; I don’t think it’s that. But I don’t feel better after a night’s sleep, and my BFF is immunocompromised: while I almost definitely don’t have COVID, I don’t want to risk giving her even just a cold or something. I do want to give my “nephew” his gifts, and see him and my friends, but would definitely rather be safe than sorry.

Seconded.

I think I would have just replaced the microwave…

While I agree that the patties tend to cool pretty quickly, a Wendy’s single with mayo, ketchup, and pickle is just about my favorite fast-food burger. I also agree about the fries, but getting a Frosty to dip them in greatly offets that issue.

Talking about burgers and fries makes me realize that it’s time for lunch (just after 12:30pm)! I seem to be on a frozen-sausage-and-cheese-thingy kick these days: time to nuke one of those and have a banana and some strawberries. Which means it’s also time to decamp from the home office to the living room. Yesterday I finally started watching S3 of For All Mankind, so my entertainment for the rest of the long weekend is pretty set!

Woo hoo!!! :tada:

I understand being careful, but I’m not sure I see where there’s a problem acknowledging you know someone. I met Cliff Robertson in San Diego in the mid-70s - should I not post that? I’m not trying to be snarky - I just don’t get it. Then again, people never cease to surprise me with how nasty they can be…

Back from the marina. The display cover is a tad tight around the bottom, but it’ll do what it’s supposed to do - protect an expensive piece of electronics. I sorted thru the life jackets and left the 10 best aboard, brought the 6 ickiest home along with the assorted uninstalled pieces that were all over the flybridge. I also got them to change the email address on our account - the bills were going to FCD but since I pay them, I want them coming to me. It was nice down there, and crowded, but I’ve got stuff to do at home.

On a happy note, FCD finally got the new router working for his folks. For some reason, he was having an issue downloading the netgear app that was needed to get it connected, but after a visit to a wifi hotspot to download it and some other futzing around, he’s got them on line. Now he’s trying to connect their Alexa. I had to give him my account info because I purchased it on my account. Anyway, with luck, he’ll have them up and running shortly. It’s been a hellacious struggle. And we’ll go thru it again after they move. Always something.

Update - Alexa is back! And the peasants rejoiced!

I need to clean up my sewing stuff. And I need something to eat - my lunch was much too small. So maybe an orange, or some melon?? Something… Off to forage.

I was in the Mez doing corrections. The SSLAW was having a bad day, because there were a lot of no reads, that scanned just fine. Also:
Body, doing damage/fallouts:
empty
plastic envelope
torn
My brain:

I was working by then.

You sound like one of my ex-girlfriends.

@Taters

I am retired, but I worked as an electrical service technician. The company grew and became very successful. One reason for the success: If you requested a service tech to be at your business at 4.00pm, you could look out your door and see the tech pull up five minutes before. It doesn’t take a miracle to schedule like that, just a commitment to excellent service.

Just back from a trip up the lake to the gift shop to drop off some new pieces. He oddly priced the worse one higher than the better one. But the better one is supposed to be for a restaurant to give out bread on, so they may be asking for like 30 of them, which would be a nice chunk of change in my pocket.

doggio Snerk, fcm sounds like one of my exes too.

Now I am aggressively not mowing. Cuz I donwanna. Thinking about starting a batch of chili soon, I gots all the spices arranged on the counter, like some weirdo who prepares for things.

Afternoon all. Soccer has been coached and refereed, the game I refereed got interrupted at the 3/4 mark by lightning and thunder, so that shut us down real quickly. Kids did OK (U12 boys tied 2-2, U10 boys lost 3-6) but I had to referee my U10 game and while it wasn’t as burning hot as last week (clouds and a nice breeze and temps in the low 80’s), it still took some starch out of me. Still, slowly but surely Fall is coming…

VanGo, maybe gift shop guy knows what the market wants (besides quality). Hope the 30-oiece order comes though.

FCM, sounds (and seeing at the pictures on your FB, looks) like it was quite a night with the littles…

nellie, sounds like a nice day with the daughter.

Taters, at least be glad you have a functioning ice maker and all your money…

Hopefully they won’t find the body…

OK, have had a sammich and a banana with Pepsi and feel slightly more aware of my surroundings. Take care all.

Having a big salad while my mahi-mahi broils. After I got back from the marina, I went into full slug mode, except for helping FCD with a few passwords and such. I did bag the sketty sauce, including one big bag that will go into a lasagna when the inlaws are here. So, a little bit of productivity.

We have YouTube TV, Netflix, Paramount+, Peacock, and a few other streaming platforms, and I couldn’t find anything I wanted to watch. That’s pretty pathetic. I’m not that picky, really - it’s just that there’s a lot of crap on TV. Maybe I’ll just read…

Howdy Y’all! The four of us had some quality cee-mint pond time before the rain started around two. We grilled and et burgers and made and et strawberry ice cream. YUM! JDD and Partner have gone home and I am semi-watchin’ the Jawja-Oregon football game even as I post. All in all a good day and I have upped my sloth game so nellie does not have to peer at me over her glasses now. :eyeglasses: Sloth shall remain in effect except for the makin’ of a buncha chikin sallit sammiches at some point this evenin’.

nellie glad daughter and you are havin’ a good time.

nettie obviously that book has greatly offended Buddy and must be removed.

Taters yay for fixed ice maker. I have two fridges with ice makers and am very fond of both ice makers.

MOOOOOOM hooray for the weight loss and for FCD figurin’ out the router woes.

VanGo hope the order for the thirty piece one comes through. Sounds like gift shop guy knows what he’s doin’ and has your back. I have determined to aggressively not mow until at least Tuesday.

Get Britbox. There’s lots of stuff on there worth watching.
We just finished watching an Irish police procedural called Hidden Assets, which was a spin-off from another Irish mystery, Acceptable Risk.
And then there’s a strange sort of quiz show we watch called QI, which is in turns, and sometimes simultaneously, hilarious and incomprehensible.
There’s lots else too, but those are what I remember just now.

Just had a fight with the dumbest flies in the world. Find the window, ya little bastards.

fcm New tricks on multiple places, I think all of it is on Hulu… Retired guys solving crime. Quite fun.

I’m sorry Mom, Acceptable Risk is on Acorn. Hidden Assets might be too. We get to them through Amazon Prime, so I’m confused. Mea culpa.

oopsie, ragweed is in full bloom in my neck of the woods, which is just about straight west of you. Benedryl at night (or the daytime if you’re not irking) and Claritin during the day seem to work for me until it gets bad enough for a shot.

Got a project kicked off in the studio, surfed the net and napped for most of the day. The hedgehog fixed supper.

Who knew waxing a car would make me sweat more than my walks? Mr. Miyagi would make me do it again, but he’s not here.

Nobody has had any sugar-free tonic (or regular tonic, or club soda) in a month or so. The warehouse/distributor doesn’t have any.

Shrimp alfredo for dinner. I guess I should start peeling the shrimp so I can star the sauce.
