Pass The Turkey, Eh? A (Canadian)Thanksgiving MMP

I’m so sorry, that’s a typo from my end! “N.O” is Not Our  Does that make more sense?

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and waiting for Sis to wake up before taking Nelson (and she her dogs) out (Nelson is sleeping in too) outside. We plan on going out junking today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Apologies for double-posting, I wanted to try unconfusing Yankers before I read everything you lot have been up to!

It’s 14c/57f out there and likely to stay the same all day, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a great day for naps. Followed by more fucking naps” which would be great except I have a busy day in store! I was up just before 7am, tended to the needs of the mogs, had a cuppa and a banana, then went to the gym. Threw myself through bootcamp, spin and dumbell hustle before coming home for a cuppa and a shower. Now waiting for 'im indoors to get himself sorted out so we can go into town.

Lunch at the Good Chinese Place, errands and then I’ll probably drop him off at home, and drive myself over to my friends’ house to feed and poop-scoop the ferrets. They will have been in their hutch for a few days so I’ll put them in the living room and let them have a good run about while I’m dealing with stuff outside. Home again, to wait for a friend to arrive - we have tickets for some bands tonight, rescheduled from about 2yrs ago so we are going for a curry first, then off to KK’s to see Collateral, Mason Hill and H.E.A.T. It’s going to be a fab night, a bunch of other friends are going so it’ll be a little reunion for us all.

Mooom I am also a landmark driver, I often download driving directions or check them out on google maps so I can see the area I’m going to. Over here, since we are blessed with numerous hostelries, we often navigate by pubs. Directions to my friend’s house mean we go down to the end of the street to turn left, then go past the Summer House, turn right at the very end of the road, go past the Newbridge, turn left where the Mitre used to be, carry on past the Swan, and the Claregate, then turn right at Hail to the Ale

I am also guilty of using pub names that aren’t current…when I’m in Nottingham, I usually tell friends I’ll meet them in Fagin’s. Except Fagin’s hasn’t had that name for years, it’s been the Spread Eagle and the Hand & Heart since then, but everyone knows where Fagins used to be

Short message this morning, need to start getting ready soon. Leave home for the soccer fields at 8:00am and I’ll be there until after 3pm, so a pretty full day. At least it’s cool right now (50F), but heading for the mid-80’s, so taking plenty of water.

FCM, that first B-day party ought to be something. Have a good day.

OK, need to gather coaching and refereeing stuff and get prepared. All y’all have a good day.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 46 degrees with an expected high of 80 and sunny skies. We’ll see how that pans out; the smoke has returned and is predicted to be bad over the next couple of days. I don’t imagine the skies will be exactly clear, but there will be some amazing sunsets.

Still feeling like utter crap. Yesterday, I tried to get through the day without taking cold meds because I wanted this crap to flow out of my system and away. This stupid plan did not work. Sleep has been intermittent. I gave up and got up at 5:00 am. I took some Nyquil in the hopes that it’ll knock me out and I can get some sleep. So far, that’s been a no-go. Sneezing, coughing, and constantly blowing my nose. Still have no fever, but I must have had a bit of a mild fever because I broke out in a bit of sweat earlier this morning. It’s passed now.

I hope your meet-up with potential Gentlemen Caller works out, shoe.

I need a second cup of coffee. I hope you all have a terrific day.

I haven’t really noticed it, though yesterday it did seem a little hazy in the distance. I smelled a campfire, but didn’t see one or any people that might have one. This happens more often when there are more people at the beach. Once a properly-built fire is going, there’s not a lot of smoke. Also, I don’t slacken my pace so I don’t spend a lot of time looking. It occurred to me that I might have been smelling the wildfires; but if that was the case I’d have been smelling it all the time instead of just one spot.

GrandmaBoo has a busy road trip! adventure weekend starting~going along as a au pair helper with my daughter and two grandbabbies to Kansas City for a Saturday afternoon wedding-SIL/papa of said grandbabies is away in DC on professor business.

About a 4 hour drive. My backpack is stuffed with kidlet surprises. Books, puzzle books, little stuffies. Mama was in charge of road snacks.

See you later!

Having relatives over for brunch today. I’m making a very large frittata-type dish with sausage, potatoes, peppers, onions, etc. Also made cornbread yesterday and the wife made her black bean and mango salad. Should be fun and exhausting at the same time.

Many errands to run today. Groceries, Trader Joe’s, booze store, take some things I made to the gift store. I posted these over in the “stuff you made thread”, but I’ll stick them here, too.

All y’all have a great weekend. Sounds like erry’body’s busy.

Trader Joe’s has a good selection of sauce. I like their Juniper 8 gin. They also have name brands.

Sadly, here in NY, due to byzantine liquor laws, Trader Joe’s, and all grocery stores, can’t sell booze. No 2-buck Chuck for me.

Today is shopping day. This means separate trips to one store to get Command strips–one of my pictures fell down–and to the grocery store. I’m getting stuff to make lunch for eight my son and me for Monday. Tomorrow I’ll cook and bake. Oh, and I have to go to the gym. Our forecast is about the same as Taters.

flyboy, I think you must have been smelling forest fire smoke. Maybe the smoke is better in some spots than others? I check the air quality index every morning, and it’s all yellow and orange by you–no green. There’s a fire to your east. At least none of us are in Idaho…it looks like they’re going to be harvesting baked potatoes.

Taters, that sounds simply horrid. Do you use a neti bottle? It really helps clear out the sinus crud and soothe the membranes. Just a suggestion.

I can’t fathom any of us doing that. Must be the same crowd that calls bars asking for Anita Bath or Jacques Strapp. (Oh, that Bart!)

shoe, hope tomorrow is Sunday Funday for you and gentleman caller! Our pearls need clutching.

FCM, it doesn’t seem like a year since the stork dropped off Tobias. Planning a party will be so much fun!

BooFae, sounds like a WONDERFUL day–well, maybe not scooping ferret poop, but the rest of it!

Boo, you sound so happy! This trip was just what you’ve needed. Have fun!

MetalMouse, sounds like you won’t need to go to the gym today!

Love the wine bottle stand! And I know what the trays are showing, but on first look, it looks like spilled paint! Still, you do really nice work!

Home again. I took BIL and MIL on a tour of their shopping areas, and I picked out landmarks for BIL. I suggested he go out tomorrow, since traffic tends to be light on Sunday, and I put my number in his phone so he can call me if he gets twisted around. So we shall see how it goes.

MIL and FIL liked the oatmeal cookie bars, and they liked the bean soup I gave them the other day. I’m glad I can make mealtimes easier for them. FCD used some stickers to mark her stove and microwave, since she can’t make out any of the markings on the black controls. And he got them to sign some papers for the Dr so they can get established as new patients.

Just finished lunch - time to clean the critter fountain, then make some sketty sauce! ONWARD!!!

Thanks to a certain FT supervisor not turning off the containerization mode on the SSLAWS, a big heap of stuff kept circulation on the belts, and got left behind. Let’s Go Brandon!(That’s his actual name). Whatever, I make money when people screw up. And I’m not to blame.

Sounds like my kind of place!

Feel better, Taters!

I thought you had posted them here, too. But they still look good.

Nothing beats the Jack Daniels distillery being in a dry county.

I  certain British ways of expressing things.

… also, I used to have 3 ferrets and, while I don’t miss the poop - dear gods, the poop - their funny little “ook! ook!” war dance never got old. If they’ve been cooped up for a couple of days, they’ll have energy to burn. So fun!

You’re a great GrandmaBoo. I bet you’ll come home happily worn out, with lots of fun new memories.

That sounds really good. May I ask what else goes into it?

As others have already said, you make beautiful objects.

Heh, me too. We were supposed to meet up { looks back over texts } back in February?!? Dang. Anyway, him popping back up was quite a surprise, and vaguely … flattering?

I dunno. But I do know that, yeah it’s a youngish guy & yeah he’s not gonna be paying attention to the decor, but damn, I gotta do at least some minimal cleanup around this place.
But I gotta be at work in an hour and there’s no telling when I’ll be home, so, uh, let’s hope Tomorrow Shoe has more energy & ambition than today’s version. Cuz Today Shoe is tahhhred.

1 can Black beans, drained and rinsed
1 Ripe mango, peeled and cut into ½ inch pieces
¼ cup Red onion, minced
1-2 T Rice wine vinegar
1 tsp Olive oil, extra virgin
2 tsp Ground cumin
¼ cup Fresh cilantro, chopped

Mix all ingredients, adding cilantro at the end. Chill.

Happy Saturday!

It was a chilly morning at the park, 43 degrees.
Not too many of us today. I wish I could have stayed longer though, but I was getting cold and my son was getting antsy. Just as we were leaving, Lucy2 pulled up. She texted me that Stitch and Ginger showed up, and then Ziggy. I haven’t seen Ziggy, the corgi, in ages. He is the most fun dog, always happy.
There was a detour on the way there, no idea why the street was closed.
Echo flipped out when I turned off the route. Right in my ear, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? THAT’S NOT THE WAY! WHAT THE HELL MOM! YOU’RE GOING THE WRONG WAY! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?
I don’t know how she missed the memo that Shar Pei are stoic and unemotional. She is such a whiney baby.

I thought about renaming Cerby either Kirby or Herbie, if it rhymes it will be easier for him. I don’t like either of those names for him though. Also, Urban gets called Urbie a lot, and may be confusing. Echo and Coco sound alike and sometimes the wrong one comes. One friend suggested Mick.
I don’t know, he’s a handsome dog that deserves a handsome name.
I think Cerberus is not his style. Cerberus should be a Great Dane, or an Italian Mastiff, or a Boerboel.
I hope he works out. He really is a sweet dog when he’s not so hyper.

There’s more to what is going on, nobody tells me anything. I’m not supposed to know but Niece1 and her husband have separated. That is why they are having trouble caring for him, she left and can’t take him with her, and he works long hours and can’t deal with a high energy dog by himself. So, in addition to taking the dog, I have to pretend I know nothing.
I’m sure my sister is dancing with joy; she has been trying to break up their marriage since day one.
No good reason other than that she is hateful.

I need to take some pics of the fence so Niece1 husband has an idea of what needs to be done.
The spot is where my deck adjoins the neighbor’s patio, all there is between us is a railing. About 3 feet of the patio is mine, as that is where the entrance to the bilco doors is. The bilco doors are butted up against each other, so you can’t run a fence between them. There’s about 2 inches between the railing and the side of the bilco door.
I’m not even sure how to fix it other than having a very tall railing, and putting in a new taller gate.
Lawn Guy had a fix, but I don’t know what it was.
Might be easier to hang some outdoor curtains and hide the railing. That would also give me some privacy when I’m sitting on the deck and maybe cut the wind a little in the winter.

I ordered groceries, and good thing I checked the email, because the order is messed up. I don’t know if I ordered wrong or they screwed up. I hope it gets fixed when we go to get it at 4.
I ordered some extra dog treats from da jungle. My dogs have their favorite and there’s not enough of those to last until the next S&S day if they have to share with Cerby.

The neighbor is cutting the grass and Ripple is acting the fool.

I need to do some house cleaning and such, respond to an irk email, and pack up what we need to take tomorrow. I have a feeling we are going to have some stuff dumped on us to get it out of the house, I’m going to take lots of grocery bags. We get nice ones here, so they can probably use them too. The Ring needs to be charged.

I got plenty of sleep last night I thought, but I dozed off halfway through this post.

Cool stuff VanGo

Enjoy bruhch Cookie

I once asked for directions in WV.
Well, you head down this road and turn into the woods where the big oak tree is. Then you take the path down in the holler until you come to the run. Follow the run …
and that is when I stopped listening.

Frustrating bill-paying day.

First, I try to register for the physical therapy place so I can pay my bill. As soo as I enter my email address, it tells me my password is blank. Well, no shit. It won’t let me fill in the password, apparently because the password isn’t filled. I’ll have to pay over the phone Monday.

Next, I try to register for the imaging clinic. I get as far as the verification email, but when I click the link I’m told I have to allow cookies. I started a FQ thread for that, because I can’t figure out how to do it.

Then I try to pay property taxes to the house in San Diego. The payment is declined. After a call to the credit card company, I realise that the auto-filled credit card information is out of date. I did get that bill paid.

The Spousal Unit only wanted scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast, so that’s what I made for her. I made myself an omelette with leftover (ground beef) taco meat, Trader Joe’s hot sauce, and cheddar cheese, topped with some sour cream.

Ugh, I’m exhausted. Back from a trip downtown to drop off my pieces at the gift shop, had to go to the main pedestrian street in the center of town. Have people gotten dumber since the lockdown? Nobody had any awareness of space, where they were walking, other people. Just sort of zombies slooowly strolling around in their own little world. Then a trip to Trader Joe’s at 3 PM. Bad choice. Jeebus, look around and be aware of your surroundings, you inconsiderate dumb a-holes.

DONE! I’ve got 3 bags of sketty sauce in the freezer and a container in the fridge, probably for tomorrow. Or I may make a pasta bake for the in-laws. We shall see.

Visitors have come and gone, so it’s quiet here again. I just ran to the dollar store for the time-release melatonin that FCD likes. I also filled my car since WaWa is right there. FCD went to his folks’ place for something, and as soon as he gets back, I’ll heat up some soup for supper. That should wrap up the day.

Busy tomorrow, but chillage tonight.
