Pass The Turkey, Eh? A (Canadian)Thanksgiving MMP

I don’t think BIL could deal with it. We’re going back tomorrow and I’m going to take him out and show him the two main places he’ll want to go. FCD isn’t the best with directions and he and his bro have, um, history, so better for me to take him (and MIL) while FCD stays with his dad. I know BIL navigates by landmarks and I can give him good landmarks, I think.

We’ll mess with the firewood on Sunday.

Supper was grilled cheese and summer sausage for FCD, and I had a bowl of cornflakes and a piece of peanut butter toast. And I have enough daily calories left for an apple later. That’s always a bonus.

Howdy Y’all! I did the peoply stuff and we did the geezer N.O.L. at the hog trough Golden Corral. Then sloth ensued. Thus was the day in swampland.

Yanker I see you got your question answered. I use N.O.S. when talkin’ about the weather cause I wouldn’t want anyone to think our Sunny was hangin’ around in the sky above da cave.

Yay for all you gettin’ shot up!

Flyboy glad Abbey is better.

Taters hop Mr. Taters and you are better soonest.

Hippie that quilt is way cool! Somebody or somebodies had some patience to do that.

shoe hope the long shift is uneventful and you make lots of tips.

sari I’m with the fix the fence then we’ll take the dog camp.

cookie hope the knee is better today and that you can get some long term relief soonest.

JtC I am glad GG has excepted the recliner. You know, of course, it now officially belongs to GG and VBC, right?

MOOOOOOM glad they didn’t get too lost. The SS fairy did not visit my bank account.

teela I am not sure about SS, but I do know with Medicare if your bday is on the 1st of the month, Medicare goes into effect the month before.

Bailey did the aqua treadmill again at PT yesterday. It’s so fun to watch her do that. After talking with the rehab vet, yesterday’s visit wound up being the last one: we agreed there wasn’t much to gain from her having one more appointment two weeks from now. The vet also confirmed that Bailey’s arthritis is currently pretty mild, and that she’s experiencing some stiffness but no actual pain. So, we’ll see what the next few months bring. Meanwhile, her annual exam and (other) vaccinations will happen on Saturday morning.

I’m glad I went out last night, but the show ended a half hour later than it was supposed to…which normally isn’t a big deal, but it was a weeknight and I was feeling those 30 minutes! LOL! Plus the Uber driver my friend and I got at the end of the night went at least 10 mph under the speed limit the whole time – on an interstate – so it took longer to get home than it should have (but he was better than the first driver we had, who got my first less-than-five-stars rating). And I had to watch TV for a little while, to decompress. It was after 1am by the time I fell asleep, which is late for me on a schoolnight!

I’m planning to go out again Saturday night, then Sunday I’m going to Baltimore for lunch with my dad and brother. Dad’s birthday was Wednesday: it’s exactly three weeks after mine, so we usually all get together around this time of year for a combined birthday thing.

In the meantime, I’m very glad that I have no plans tonight! And, even though the Yankees lost today, I’m glad there’s no ballgame on that I’ll feel compelled to watch. Between watching baseball Tuesday night and being out last night, I’m behind on my TiVo. Though I could see possibly catching the end of the Dodgers/Padres game later…

Oooo, interesting! I’m pretty sure I’m eating enough fat, but it could be that I’m craving dairy…thinking about your comment made me realize that I haven’t really been getting any otherwise.

TIC HERE!

My dad would pick out the mushrooms.

:woman_facepalming:

I did just have a cawfee protein shake…

I only used glue to help stop fraying. I have some small nails, and I tacked down the back every 10th loop. Goo jumped up onto the top of the tree a couple of time before I was finished, when the tree was sitting atop an ottoman (with the cushion off), but I haven’t seen anyone scratching yet. I was just in the catio, and Abbey was watching a bunny.

I picked up a bunch of carpet bits, and then vacuumed the front room and the kitchen before bringing the tree in and putting it by the French doors. I emptied the canister because I know SWMBO is going to ask. (And it’s what you do.)

I went on my 3.1 mile walk before I did the cat tree. An elderly couple in a car asked me where a certain street was. I didn’t know, but I had my phone. (Unfortunately, not my reading glasses.) I found the street, and it was a mile or so away. I told them to go to the stop sign, make a left (the only way you can turn; otherwise you go into the bay) and told them it was about a mile up that road, on the right. I told them I’m not really sure where their street is, and I hope I don’t get them lost. They said that’s OK. After they left, it occurred to me that they may have had to turn right onto another road before making a left on the road they want. The way I told them, they’d be taking a road whose name I don’t recall to get to it. At lease I got them closer.

The Spousal Unit just texted from Deming, about 30 miles away. She says she’s on her way home from her patient’s place. I’ll have time to get a shower.

Then I’ll have to make dinner. I’m very hungry. All I’ve eaten today was that cold fried chicken leg over the sink.

That quilt is quite impressive.
I wish I had that kind of patience.

I talked with Niece1’s husband. He is coming up Thursday morning to fix the fence, and he will bring Cerby with him.
That gives me a few more days to prepare, and we won’t have to go outside with him to guard the fence.

I wonder if anybody would get upset if I changed his name, Cerberlicious is just so…

As of Thursday, he will be your dog. You can call your dog whatever you want, he will get used to it.

I am so exhausted, I adulted really hard today. I dealt with my upcoming Medicare enrollment AND I voted. I like to sit at home with my comp and ballot education materials and take my time to research things, I’ve been working on both things but today I got it done!

I think I’m going to go through my kits and pick a new piece to start as a reward. Using my decision making skillz yet again will probably make me unable to make any choices about dinner but that’s fine. Hubs just wants a big slab of some sort of meat, he’s easy.

Sis should be here any time now.

I grew up with tuna noodle casserole in regular rotation on Fridays and during Lent.

That is one gorgeous quilt hippy!

Right now, I think I’ll harness Nelson up and go out to the patio to surf.

The result of an experiment proves that farro is not a sub for barley in soup. I made a nice chicken soup, did the whole brown off a leg, toss in some garlic and onion, de-glaze with some stock, etc, etc. Tossed in some farro and let it go for 30 min, still too toothsome, is I believe the foodie word for it. Kinda crunchy and it sank to the bottom of the bowl. So, on the search for barley on the morrow. Or maybe I’ll do N.O.T instead.

The soup was still darn tasty, if I do say so myself.

My bro is coming through on his way to Ohio sunday, gotta do the put the booze out of sight again. He says he’s gonna do the return trip in one go. Cincinnati to southern Maine. Dumbass. I’ve told him he’s always welcome to use my spot here in upstate NY, yanno, halfway, as a resting spot.

No use arguing with the stubborn.

Anyway. Be well, all!

Evening all. Soccer has been coached and Jack’s (not Jack in the Box, this is a local burger chain) provided the evening sustenance. Early bedtime as I coach at 8:30 and 11:00am tomorrow and referee at 12:30 and 1:45pm, so it’ll be a full day. Hardly got started on my Sudoku and Jumbles today–something left over for tomorrow.

VanGo, so he plans on driving, oh, 1000 miles or so in one trip? I concur with your opinion. Dumbass. Hope he comes to his senses and stops over.

Sari, Cerberlicious is a name worth changing…now, if it had been Cerberus…

Oopsie, glad Bailey is doing better, and staying out late once in a while won’t kill you (now Uber drivers, they might kill you…  )

FCM, my Mom was a landmark driver, get her out of her neck of the woods and you’d better have good directions, such as “at the second light, next to the McDonalds, turn left”.

Ok, need to finsih a few items and head off to bed. All y’all take care.

True confessions: I have shin splints, probably from cranking up the treadmill to Max all this time. So I reduced the incline somewhat and am sitting here with my feet up, icing my shins to heal the shinjury. Stoopit shins.

Awful? Change that name! Tell the fam the pooch told you the old name made him miss Niece2 too much. You’re doing them a HUGE favor, and they know it, so they won’t gripe.

That’s enough to give anyone a headache. I’m trying to find out if the Halloween surgery is covered by Medicare, and it’s so freakin’ difficult, it’s made me cranky. Medicare enrollment is even worse.

VanGo, my now-ex and I used to drive from Chicago to Massachusetts in one go. We were in our twenties. It’s stupid but doable in your twenties. Anything older than that is asking for trouble. I hope he changes his mind.

Your mom and I have a lot in common. If you really want to mess me up, tell me to turn north. On a cloudy day.

How are you NW Washington folks doing? It looks like you’re getting a lot of wildfire smoke, too.

I am also a landmark driver with no sense of direction. Hubs and I made an agreement decades ago…if we are going somewhere and I am giving directions and we get lost…it is HIS fault because he knows better than to listen to me.

The spare bed is in my hobby room and I also have a rolly desk chair (plus desk, which is not rolly). VBC and GG like occupying the bed and getting rubs every time I roll my chair around, or when I am frustrated, or when hubs comes in to say something, etc.

While they think my recliner is pretty comfy, they do not like me sitting there because there aren’t any good snoozing spots close to hand. I’m ashamed to say that I hadn’t realized this would be an issue until now. The living room is going to be changed yet again.

Outta there and home before 2 a.m. which is pretty damn good for a Friday. It was oddly quiet, too - I mean, we had customers, sure, but not the ridiculous lines we sometimes “enjoy” on Fri/Sat nights.

Dinner - and lunch for tomorrow - are sorted, too. Someone ordered a half slab of ribs & a ham’n’chz sub, and never showed up.
Guess who took them home at the end of the night?

On a side note, shit like that (placing orders & then abandoning them) drives up restaurant food costs and is directly responsible for increasing prices.
So don’t do that, m’kay?

Side table, possibly topped with something soft?

I have tentative plans with a guy I’ve been texting with for a while but it just never worked out for one reason or another.
But with me finally having a weekend day off (Sunday) and also me being a bit more, ah, forward lately about meeting in person rather than just endlessly texting, I might just finally give y’all something to clutch your pearls about again.

p, caffei nd sheveld. Off to heave. It’s my Firday!

: polishes pearls, and pulls throw pillows off fainting couch >

It still blows my mind that you’re leaving for work when I’m getting home.
That’s what makes a 24/7 world, I guess.

You sure you got enough caffeine there, buddy?

I blame Alex Catt for teabagging my mouse again.

{ clutches pearls }

As one who has done 800 miles in a day, I concur - adding 3-4 more hours to that trek would have been murder, even with 2 drivers! But, well, some people…

Yeah, this doesn’t work with me, unless you’re saying “I-95 North”, in which case there’s a sign or 3 labeled thus. I prefer road names, but significant landmarks help, like “Take a right at the giant purple chicken statue” as opposed to “Turn just past where the ice cream shop used to be…” yeah…

Really? My critters find the recliner plenty comfy when I’m sitting on it. Usually it’s Higgs between my feet on the raised footrest and Taz on my leg, tucked against the arm of the chair. Heaven help me if I need to get up to pee - the looks I get!!!

Hussy!!! :open_mouth:

Up at 5 because my stupid internal clock won’t let me sleep in. I’ve tended the critters and fed my face, plus the ice maker is making ice. When I finish reading, I’ll load yesterday’s dirty dishes into the dishwasher, then load myself into the shower. We’ll make a quick-ish run to the apartment with some stuff for them - including a box of kitchen stuff, a bag of pillows and blankets, some soup, and the cookies. I’ll take BIL driving to learn his way, and we need to be back home by 12:30 to beat my sister here.

I’ll make sketty sauce this afternoon. And today is clean-the-critter-fountain day. So I have that to look forward to.

Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and N.O.S. for the day. Today is a stay at home day as the local college is havin’ its homecomin’, which messes with traffic, so best to stay in. Not that that is a problem for us. We shall sloth, nap, day drink, watch tackleball, and be generally useless all day. Any need to feed will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s, chips, and so forth.

shoe I look forward to havin’ a good swoon.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Back, showered and dressed for going out into the world. I’ve loaded the dishwasher and hand-washed the stuff that’s too big to fit in there, I divided the big pot o’soup into 5 bags plus one container (tonight’s supper) - 2 bags going to the inlaws and the other 3 for the freezer - and I’m waiting for FCD to be up and presentable so we can head out. I should have enough time to clean the critter fountain - it only takes about 15-20 minutes. I also remembered to stick a note on the door so we don’t forget all the stuff we need to take.

I forgot to mention earlier (since I know everyone cares) that today, Tobias is 11 months old! Guess it’s time to start planning his first b-day party!! Daughter’s MIL posted a photo of Roxy taken 3 years ago, so slightly older than Tobias is right now, and I hardly recognized her. In fact, I recognized the furniture first! So many changes here in the last 4 years…

OK, back to chores.
