Pass The Turkey, Eh? A (Canadian)Thanksgiving MMP

Isn’t this just called “work” here in the US?

Congratulations to CGD! (Cookie Grand Daughter)

Sari Turbo looks like a sweet boy, I hope he settles in smoothly.

We had a scary movie marathon yesterday. The kids like The Blair Witch project. The household split males v females on the question of Sinister. My daughter and I were not impressed. It may be a movie that has to be seen in a theater. Today I get to pick… decisions, decisions.

Only a few days left before the house is ours, ours, ours. We’ve done everything including giving them an unholy amount of money and sign all the docs. Hopefully it’s fine. I’ve knocked on wood. Everyone else feel free to do the same.

Happy Sunday all.

Wow! You folks have been busy, whereas I have been rivaling Swampy in my slothiness.
I’ve got this retired drain on society gig down pat.

The weather here is starting to turn, finally. Soon it’ll be too cool to do the things I’ve been putting off, like getting the new basement doors ready to paint and then painting them. That’s what I should be putting my time into today. We’ll see f I actually do that.

The daughter unit and her pup left to go home yesterday afternoon and all is quiet here again. We loves 'em, we does, but one does get tired of hearing “Archie, NO!” every few minutes.

We finally got in to see the dentist(s) last week, but they’re new kids fresh out of dentist school and want us to come back this week and get our teeth ‘deep cleaned’. I think that means root planing. :scream:
I’m considering cancelling. Especially as we don’t know what they will want to charge us for this ‘service’.

Enuff.

Busy busy here. Went to a client’s house and talked through a new built-in bench/coat locker thingie. That’ll keep the wolves from the door for a couple of months. Then downtown to meet up with the gift shop owner–she wasn’t in yesterday. Then I just finished up with house tasks. Swept the leaves off of the back deck so it’ll, hopefully, dry out a bit before it gets covered with snow. And did a patch on the ceiling where the stack vent was leaking. I’d forgotten how much I dislike drywalling. Especially overhead.

Cute pup, sahi, as others have said, he does look smart.

I cook the same way. Drove a few people in my life nuts. “How’d you make this?” { shrug } “Dunno. Just did.”

I would have laughed till I peed myself.

I used to play the violin. Letting friends “try” it resulted in … well, a multi-cat squall would be melodic by comparison.

IKR you should always do like waiters in fancy restaurants: “Excellent choice, sir/madam” no matter what cheap slop you ordered.

That’s mean.
… and also hilarious.

I laughed way harder than I should have.

Knock knock
(Who’s there?)

Okay, I have accomplished the washing of the hair, so it’s now laundry time, along with { sigh } the scrubbing of the bathroom.

Ack! Mustn’t forget the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash bin in all the excitement. Have rounded up some trash, in my attempts to make my home slightly more welcoming in case this “date” thing works out. (I haven’t heard from him yet, and haven’t felt like reaching out myself yet since I am nowhere near ready to receive a guest.)

But I kinda just wanna get outta the house for a bit. A quick spin out to get a cheap tray of sushi’n’soup might be on the agenda.

I sent my application to Fannie May. I read employee reviews. A few stated you can’t get more than 20 hours a week and there is no room for advancement. I certainly don’t want to work more than 20 hours and Og forbid, I don’t want to do more than fill boxes of candy. @Misnomer Hallmark is number 2 on my list for potential seasonal irk.

Plants filter smoke from the air by absorbing the little particles. This stops the plant from being able to “breath” as easily, but is good for humans. I’d think that as long as you wash the plants often, they will be OK.

I’m \so glad it is almost over! Have a good move

It stormed and boomed all night long, I woke up to rain and the forecast says there is a good chance we will get some more rain today. It would be so nice to be able to get out of severe drought conditions for a while.

You already work more than any of us who have jobs!

Operation Change Sheets was a success, along with Operation Scrub Bathroom.

As my reward, I am enjoying some sushi (a completely different order from my usual standard - YOLO and such) and some cross-stitch time outside in the cloudy light, perfect lighting for me.

Finally texted Operation Potential New Guy, now that I’m all fed & settled. Haven’t heard back.

Dude, don’t blow your chance - I work all next weekend. I mean, I could ask for a weekend day off, but we haven’t actually met; why would I murk up my paying schedule for someone who hasn’t actually entered my, uh, life?

Really sounds like what H.R. peeps everywhere like to call “a good fit.”

Afternoon all. Olive Garden has been visited and dinner consumed, the fourth load of laundry is in the spin cycle (1 or 2 more to do), and in the contest between sloth vs gym it is sloth by a wide margin. Cloudy and 76F outside, so not much reason to be out.

Slight laundry disaster; a paperback I was reading got funneled in with the underwear and it took some picking out and frequent changes of the dryer filter to get clean stuff that was not full of old paperback. Ah well, I can order it via Amazon if I’m inclined to.

Wet one, good luck. You sound like your lack of ambition at this stage equals their needs, so I think your a cinch for the job.

Cookie, very nicely played.

Sari, like others, Cerby is a very handsome dog and I’m sure he’ll fit in fine with the others.

Sunny, knocking on wood, plastic, metal and anything else that won’t knock me back.

OK, need to empty the dryer and refill the machines. All y’all take care.

That’s absolutely perfect for me!

So. Many. Inappropriate. Jokes. Can’t. Decide.

{ falls over }

Congrats on the granddaughter’s band success cookie!

sari, Cerby / Turbie is a handsome dog. <3

nellie, what JtC said about the plants.

Got the Sunday chores done, prescriptions picked up and supper made / et (Basque chicken over brown rice and fried cabbage). Now to play around until bed time.

If you don’t have gum disease, you don’t need deep cleaning. At least, that’s what I’ve been told by a dentist who hates how some dentists push expensive and unnecessary procedures. So unless you have bleeding gums or nasty, foul breath, this may be a total waste of time and money. Not that I have any dental training or anything, but I did read an article about dentists who, for want of a better word, scam their patients.

I am so with you there. I watch the pros do drywall and it looks so easy. Then I try it, and OMG what a mess!!! We hates it, we do!

Salad and sketties were good, tho the sauce was a tad bland. Dishes are done. Chillage shall ensue. Thus endeth the weekend.

Howdy Y’all! Dang, y’all are a chatty bunch today. We deheathenated, had a McN.O.L., achieved nappage, and day drank. The biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow, and all is well in swampland.

Sari he’s a handsome doggo! Also, I like Turbo for his name.

Sunny wood knocked and appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.

WetOne appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the part-time gig.

Cookie gigglin’ old midwestern women is the equivalent of pee in your pants laughin’ everywhere else.

shoe if he doesn’t show, well, his loss.

VanGo yay for the gig. May many more lucrative ones come your way soonest. I have never done drywall. I intend to keep that on my never have done list.

MOOOOOOM the best soup recipes are the ones where stuff gets thrown in a pot and voila soup!

Back when I was young, Dad thought he should stucco the underside of the small front porch roof. I was 13 or 14, in my prime asshole teenage years so I didn’t help. I went to a friend’s place, got stoned and then came home and hid around the side of the house so I could laugh while listening to Dad swear.

Fingers crossed. My fainting couch is feeling very neglected lately.

There is a charm of Lesser Goldfinches living in the area, so I started putting thistle out for them. The sock almost always has at least 4 of them hanging out and getting a snack with lots of movement and song.

I’ve noticed that several of them seem to be feeding others so I suspect they clutched again during our second spring. While they are super cute, they are the messiest bathers ever. They get their little wings going like hummingbird wings and splash a 5 inch nimbus of water around them. After the charm is done bathing, the flagstones under the bath are wet for a couple of feet out, so very entertaining to watch, GG likes to go out in the catio and splash around in his fountain when he sees them bathing because monkey see, monkey do I guess.

Currently GG’s favorite toy is a small rabbit fur ball, he chases it around all over the place. I also bought the Grumpy Old Man cat one and he doesn’t seem to like it that much. Grumpy’s fur ball ended up in the area between our bedroom door and the baby gate, juuusssst out of GG’s reach.

There are several things I could do about this…I could push the ball closer to GG so he has both of them. I could move the ball into the bedroom where GG knows he has no chance of getting it OR I could memorize the spot so I can be sure that the ball doesn’t get kicked out of the way because watching GG try to get the ball without Grumpy seeing him is hysterical.

As it is 7 p.m. and I haven’t heard diddly-squat back, I suspect this is another case of “big hat / no cattle.”

Your kitteh saga stories are so entertaining.

And so ends an uninspring weekend for handegg at all levels. Glad hockey is back. Also the apartment is clean, the litter is changed, and the trash and recycling are out. Time to reward myself with a Wisconsin Old Fashioned. :tumbler_glass:

Yeah, but being crushed by a sports billionaire is my escape from being crushed by a work billionaire.

Pretty puppy. And I like Turbo, in honor of hockey player Teuvo “Turbo” Teravainen. :finland:

So much for his chance to get blown.

Evening all. Last and final item to be washed is in the dryer and now I need to do 4-5 other things tonight since I wasted the afternoon on crosswords and Sudoku. Started the day with a 50% chance of rain tonight, the estimate is now down to 15%, so dryness will probably continue.

shoe, sorry about the no-show, but you did provide me a Randy Newman song, so I for one am grateful, even if you’re having inappropriate thoughts about a 40’s detective (book was “Fer-de-Lance” by Rex Stout about his heavyweight private eye Nero Wolfe).

OK, better get to work and get things done…or not (the sloth is great in this one). Have a good night/morning and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Thanks for the laugh.

In retail terms, he’s twice no-call-no-show.
$%@! though, he was damn hot in the pics.

So was I! I thought.
… the hell?

{ grumble } imma eat this entire roasted chicken m’damn self, instead of sharing like I’d hoped.

At least my home is clean. All for me.
And Monkey, who does not care.

I may be an old married guy, but I still have vague recollections of my single years. And any time a woman asked me to come to her house - I went to her house! I mean, jeez, Dude.

If I were single, and lived in western Mitten State, and maybe 20 years younger… you would not be having this problem.
