doggio Bananas, leg cramps are often caused by a lack of potassium. I started drinking smoothies in the AM to help with that. Like you I am on my feet at work.
Sup tonight was a big ol’ salit, plus garlic bad, I felt greens were needed in my diet. Been having too much brown food lately.
The holiday on monday threw my recycling schedule off, gotta remember to get that out for pickup tomorrow. Doesn’t seem right to me that the dudes get the holiday off, but then have to work on the saturday, hope they get overtime.
Thanks everyone, but that was Hub’s idea. He doesn’t like people and certainly doesn’t want to shop for children so this was his way to do something that nobody around here would know about. Except we both get notifications if the other person has used their card for over 50 bucks. He had to tell me but he got all kinds of grumbly and shit.
Tonight he drove me to the community center to donate the winter clothing (I can’t drive after dark anymore) and he just grabbed stuff out of the trunk, trundled it in, dropped it on the table and walked right back out the door. He looked forward to being a grumpy old man for his entire life and he’s loving it now.
I haven’t settled on where I want my chair to be, so I keep moving things around in the living room. Poor GG is as inflexible as his “dad” all this constant change is intolerable. The funniest part is knowing that tomorrow it will be like nothing ever changed and he’s all sorts of comfortable relaxing on the new chair.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I wonder what insanity today will bring?
When I rearranged the kitchen last year to put in the Freecycle washer and dryer(yeah, I spent my vacation heaving furniture and appliance, instead of heaving furniture and appliance at work ), I put the pantry shelving by the kitchen entrance. Gordie still smacks his snout on the Tupperware 14 months later. He’s not big on change, either.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 82 and N.O.S. for the day. This mornin’ I shall head over to the church house to deal with candle duty. Then I shall take care of a few errands whilst out and about. We have decided to go to the hog trough Golden Corral durin’ geezer time, so that takes care of the need to feed.
JtC that was a good thing of hubs to take care of the propane. Like him, I would not have wanted folks to know I did it, partly because I too am a grumpy old man, and partly because I don’t need to make my good deeds known to the world. Hope GG decides the recliner is his friend today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of all bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life is such toil sometimes!
Morning, mumpers! It’s 14c/57f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s partly cloudy. It’s not so fucking shitty” - I agree, it’s sunny out there and there’s blue sky with not much cloud at all. I have no plans to be outside the house today though, so I could have got away with sitting here in my jammes, but instead I am showered, dressed and somewhat presentable.
JtC I agree with everyone else, it was a good thing Hubs did in paying for someone else’s propane and a great way to do a good deed. I’d be anonymous about it too, I don’t need to publicise my good deeds to the world as they’re only interested in my bad ones! Also, I wouldn’t like anyone to feel beholden to me in any way, and I can’t help feeling that knowing I’d paid for their fuel could make things a bit uncomfortable in the future.
My good deed for the day has been to hasten the exit of Problem Child. She’s now in the hands of our admissions team who should be able to defer her entry to the programme until next year. It’s a one year master’s programme so she’s missed a lot of vital teaching time already, it’s really too late for her to join and she’s still not in the UK. The ninja spiders are disappointed, they were looking forward to a holiday.
Taters I hope you feel better soon, it’s a drag when you feel obliged to work when you’re ill, I have been in the same situation feeling truly grotty but there’s a job that needs to be done and nobody else around to do it.
doggio Gordie sounds very much like our previous cat, Nuke. We moved the food bowls from the kitchen to the hallway as they got in the way too much. He religiously followed us to the kitchen and sat right where the food bowls used to be. Usually I had to pick him up and carry him a few feet to where we moved them. He’d also walked right by them to get to the kitchen!
I cannot procrastinate any longer. I suppose I will have to do the job I don’t really want to do. And it’s Friday, I should have something nice to do on a Friday!
That’s something I hated about most military bases I lived/worked on - heat came on every < date> and was turned off every < other date> regardless of weather. Because…
I need to go to the credit union today to move some money - unfortunately, it has to be done in person rather than on line, dammit. But I’ll try to get there first thing, hoping to get it done quickly. Today’s big chore is taking my carpet cleaner to the apartment. I’ll take the bean soup at the same time, so they’ll have supper tonight or tomorrow.
And I’m going to make up a batch of sketty sauce and a batch of sloppy joes. I kept a list of what the ingredients cost and after I divide it up, I’ll find out what MIL wants and collect from her accordingly. I also want to make a batch of veggie-beef-barley soup - I’m pretty sure there’s a hunk of beef somewhere in the freezer that will work well in soup.
Tomorrow, FCD and I are going to cut up downed branches for the basement fireplace. There are some out front and lots out back, so the wood pile should be well provisioned for the winter. I hope. We also need to run to the marina to check on the boat and pay the whopping $1.47 electric bill for Sept. Guess we turned something on for a few minutes there, tho it’s probably just the trickle current to the battery charger.
And tomorrow, my sister is coming here to meet with Daughter to talk about her will. Sis wanted to go to Daughter’s house, but with all the stuff she’s got going on, she doesn’t have time to clean for a visitor. Plus Roxy has gymnastics class, then a b-day party later in the afternoon, so a visit here works better for them. I know my sister wants to see their house, but Daughter resents her inviting herself over, so I offered the compromise. Plus it’ll save my sis about 40 miles of extra driving. And this isn’t the sister who has friended several of you on FB, in case you’re wondering.
Enough family drama! The rain has stopped, and we’re promised a quite cold week after the weekend, so let’s go enjoy the next few days, shall we?
Sorry to double post, but I’ve got a question for fellow social security recipients - did you get an unexpected deposit? I just looked at my bank account and saw a $99 addition, but I didn’t get any notification or explanation of why they’re giving me more money (or FCD - not sure whose account it was for.) Anyone else visited by the SS Fairy??
It’s 45 degrees and cloudy with an expected high of 72 and sunny skies after about 11:00 am. Still not a drop of rain in sight. Sigh.
I’m still feeling utterly crappy with the added bonus of an off and on again earache. My throat was so sore yesterday that I could barely talk. The sore throat seems to have abated some, but I sound horrible when I do speak. At least it’s Friday!
My husband seems to have caught it now too, which is unfortunate. He just now came downstairs and I told him to dose up on Nyquil and go back to bed. I doubt he’ll listen to me, but we shall see.
Not much but work going on and probably just rest and recuperation for the weekend. I need to go get some Dayquil now.
First snow of the season is falling as I write this. It won’t stick around, of course, but the end is nigh.
My knee has decided to give me trouble. It’s been bothering me for quite some time and my last doctor said he thought it was arthritis setting in. The pain comes and goes and is usually manageable, but yesterday I had a major flare-up and significant pain if I wasn’t careful how I moved. Sleep last night was a challenge, even with two Aleve and a Salonpas patch. I had to grab a pillow from the living room and put it between my knees, but even that only provided a bit of relief. I guess it’s time to see a doctor and get some x-rays and talk options. Crap.
The little carpet muncher threw up five times around 02:30 this morning in Cat Mom’s room and the living room. Cat Mom found carpet in one of the piles. She checked a mostly-liquid puddle for blood, and didn’t find any. Abbey had a nice long drink this morning.
When I got up, the cat tree was gone. Cat Mom took it outside, and outside of the catio. She says my job today is to keep an eye on Abbey, and to remove the carpet from the cat tree and replace it with a wrap of sisal rope. I put the little 12-inch high pillar in its place for the meantime.
That was very kind of your hubs to gift the propane JtC. That’s the kind of stuff that can make a difference.
Up, caffeinating, a load of towels in the dryer, a load of jeans in the wash and a load of clothes on deck. I’m fixing to do KP, then clean house and grocery shop before Sis gets here.
Li’l help here. Still puzzled by this acronym. the MMP FAQ claims it’s “No One Special” and somehow related to nooner and lunch? I thought for a while it might mean: “Nothing On Schedule”, but it doesn’t fit grammatically. We need an MMP word for “Stumped”, cuz that’s what I yam.
We used to have a mumper called “No One Special” who lives in Israel. Due to the time differences, he was often around when it was midday or lunchtime for other people so he got nicknamed Nooner and Lunch. The “N.O” bit is “not out” so Swampy said it actually got sunny this afternoon. We have a mumper nicknamed Sunny, so he says it’s not our Sunny Simple when you know
I haven’t goths my monthly soc. security deposit, FCM, but I’ll check when I do. Boo, the 8% increase goes into effect in 2023, so it can’t be that.
I dreamed I was in Trump Tower and DJT was about to assault me when he noticed something about the floor that indicated the building was about to collapse. Suddenly my daughter was there, and I’m trying to get us both out AND find a fire alarm to warn others. Then we were on a beach in Michigan, and a Trump Airliner was flying crazily before it crashed right next to us. Weird. Help, help, the Deep State has invaded my subconscious.
flyboy, I’m glad Abbeycat is OK. Five messes to clean up, though. Yuck.
Cookie, hope the knee feels better pronto. Maybe there’s a steroid shot in your near future?
Thanks, I didn’t pay attention to when it would happen.
I checked my SS direct deposit and I have only the usual, so whatever is happening for FCM isn’t happening for all of us.
@nelliebly, we have got to stir up cheerier dreams for you!
Two years ago I shredded my left knee. A shot of cortisone was miraculous in ending that agony~sadly, it took a month to convince the Docs that I was neither malingering nor drug seeking.
