This. While I agree with the OP, liberals aren’t above it either. When I was living in San Jose I attended a town meeting held by my then-congressman Don Edwards. This was three years after Reagan had left office but every time the crowd would get restive about something the Democrats had done, he’d figuratively open his briefcase, take out the Reagan voodoo doll, and shake it at them. Worked every time. Mind you, this is when George H W Bush was in office but his name was never brought up.
Hell, it’s been nearly thirty since he left office and despite Donny Two-scoops being an incredible target I still hear Reagan being grumbled about once in a while. Excoriating your opponents even after they’ve left office is part of every politician’s tool kit, right next to dodge blame for failure/take credit for success.
But, with Reagan, at least he actually was in office. There was actually something you might not like about what he did to show to everyone. With Clinton, we have nothing but this weird vague sense of not liking her and then pinning a bunch of stuff on her as an excuse.
Every time I hear someone whining about Clinton, I point out that you can’t blame someone who never actually did anything.
Does anyone know if there is a master list of all the Hillary investigations? Not just “scandals”, like Travelgate, but investigations… like the 5 investigations which lead from Travelgate.
As near as I could tell, the whole scandal from “Travelgate” was that the Clinton’s go rid of people who’d been doing the job under the (3) prior Republican administrations and replaced them with…gasp…Democrats. These days don’t they call that “draining the swamp”?
The difference here is HRC was never president. These other guys were and we can point to their policies and make a case that those policies are still causing problems today.
By comparison what did HRC ever do to them?
There’s a much, *much *shorter list of investigations that *found *anything wrong, and the travel office thing wasn’t one of them. The list is shorter by far, in fact, than the list of ones that got repeated multiple times for the political purpose of saying she was under investigation.
Yeah, this is like Democrats complaining about Bob Dole or Romney, not like complaining about Reagan.
