Peaceful solution?

See I had this neighbor, he was a pain in the ass. He would dump his leaves on my yard, sometimes make a little noise. I spoke with him. He was a bit repentant then things went back to the way they were before. I ignored it, hoping being a good neighbor would be enough.

Years passed by. This neighbor would annoy me to no end. I talked to him, almost invariably, this resulted in a brief sesation of the annoying behavior. Followed by a new streak of even worse.

Then he had kids. His sons would try fighten my kids on the way to school. Most of the time it worked. For a while I just put up with it, I figured thats just the way “it is”. I held my tounge and didn’t call the police the day his kid spray painted my car. I figured a quick word with the dad would solve it.

Wrong I was. The dad did everything but take a swing at me right there in the street.

So I retaliated. Call it foolish or just plain pig-headed but something had to be done. I called the gas company and told them that there was a leak at his house. Of course he was without fuel for awhile and couldn’t use his stove, but I figured tit for tat.

Next day he kicked in my door and shot my dog.

What do I do?

Call the police.

Or was this an analogy?

I’m assuming this is some sort of convuluted metaphor.

If not, the answer seems to be move.

But if I call the police someone may be harmed.

This man may open fire and his chidren could be victims.

I want a PEACEFULL solution.

Call the A-Team!!!

I suppose I could run for my life, but to where?

If this is an actual situation that has really happened to you (wink - wink), then a law has been broken. It is the job of the police to apprehend those suspected of breaking laws so that they may be tried and, if found guilty, punished by society. So call the police.
Otherwise if you’re talking about the situation with the tragedy in New York and Washington as it relates to Usama Bin Laden – just ask the fucking question. We don’t need a story to make sense of the situation.
And that A-Team quip cracked me up.

Jack yeah, me too.

But after reading some of the threads I felt some posters were putting this into almost “I saw it in a movie once context”

I appologise to anyone on the SDMB who feels I insulted their intelligence.

Why, pack your bags and go to France, of course.
