I don’t know if that was really the intent; if you look at it as a whole with the plunger inserted, it looks a LOT more like a syringe than a dong.
If you take it out of context, so to speak, it looks very sex toy like. At any rate, kids who play with play-doh aren’t going to realize what it looks like, so who cares?
It looks nothing like a penis. For one thing, it is way too small.
I’m pretty sure that kids who play with play-doh will immediately realize what it looks like. At the same thing they will be figuring out that anything vaguely cylindrical looks like a dick. That’s why we call adults who see dicks in everything “immature”.
To be fair, those look like they’d be total shit for decorating a pretend cake. You’d have to extrude your decoration, pick it up and manually apply it to the cake, smashing it up in the process. I would have called bullshit on that immediately as a child. Like I said to my husband when we first saw this, I don’t know that you could substantially change the general design without compromising the intended function. Things like the Fun Factory don’t really work as cake decorating implements, narrowing the tip both makes the Play Doh not flow well and makes it look like a syringe, making it shorter and fatter will make it harder for little hands to hold and manipulate while still looking fairly dong-ish…it’s a hard one to solve.
I do think they could have done without the beading around the extrusion tip, though.
