I sure wish she were less hawkish, and less conservative, and less clearly beholden to moneyed interests. But it would take exceptional R and D candidates for me to not vote for the D. This time around, it is a no-brainer - and would have been against the entire R crop.
I’m thrilled with the potential prospect of having a black Pres followed by a woman.
I’m not thrilled with Clinton – I think she’s too clearly a political animal, and this seems to drive some odd, questionable, probably-less-than-ethical choices (such as the private email server).
But, the very idea of Trump as president scares me to death. At best, the man is an epic-level narcissist, a highly unethical businessman, and a tremendous misogynist – he may well also be a bigot and anti-Semite, though it’s hard to tell if he really feels that way, or if he’s just saying these things to appeal to his newfound base.
I consider myself to be a liberal on most issues. Had the GOP been able to put forward anything approaching a moderate candidate (though I don’t think that’s possible for the GOP any longer), this could well have been the first election since '88 in which I would vote against a Democrat. But, holy shit, I gotta vote for Clinton here.
I see no distinction between voting for one candidate or voting against the other. In any election, I have two options, and I have to choose which of them is preferable. I can think of a large number of people whom I would rather vote for than for Clinton, but I can think of a much larger number of people whom I would rather vote for than for Trump.
I despise Hillary as a candidate and a human being in general. However, for all her flaws she is still a centrist Democrat and will continue policies that I agree with. Every Republican candidate promised to undo those same policies, so I was not likely to vote for any Republican to begin with. The fact that Trump is a goddamned monster and a lunatic just makes it all the better.
The current Republic Party is a racist, sexist hate group. Especially here in The south. I would never vote for any Republic. Look at that bag of garbage that ran in the primaries for that parties nomination.
I like Clinton fine and am very pleased to vote for her. Think it’s not too fair to prefer someone who didn’t go through the rigors of the primaries though like Biden, too.
I am hard-pressed to imagine any GOP candidate that I would support over a Democratic one. HRC may not be my favorite choice, but I’m voting for her because I agree with her more than I disagree. That she’s up against Trump only heightens the urgency behind her need to win; it doesn’t alter my vote at all.
Yeah, like some others, I’ll vote for ____ (D) over _____ ®, fill in the blanks as you will. (Assuming we’re talking current Democrats over current Republicans; no fair slipping Lincoln into that “R” slot!)
Clinton wasn’t my first choice; I too was hoping Biden would run. (Fuck, I still wish Gore would’ve taken a shot at it.) But I’d vote for her no matter who the Republican is. Being a New Yorker, I probably have the luxury to write someone’s name in or vote for Jill Stein, but I’m not willing to risk it.
I think this says more about the some people who are Trump supporters than it does about either Hillary or Trump. These are people who tend to check “against the other guy” in any election.
I’m happily voting for Hillary. I would have liked Biden - but I’m glad he’s retiring - he deserves it, his life hasn’t been easy or stress free and I don’t think he needs the job. I look forward to him becoming a Clinton adviser.
I would have held my nose and voted for Bernie.
I would not have voted for anyone in the GOP clown car this year. I might have voted for the Romney who was governor, but not the Romney that ran. The GOP primaries push everyone too far right, and I sincerely hope the Democrats don’t follow suit.
The way to defeat them is to take the term for ourself. Really, there’s nothing wrong with “Democrat”- i am a Democrat. The term Democrat Party is not really bad- only the GOP use of it like that- and our overreaction makes it so. Embrace it.
Saying “hey, quit being a jerk” isn’t an overreaction. I’m not inclined to embrace something meant as a slur. If it was only directed at me, then maybe, but it’s directed at a big group, trying to change the way we refer to ourselves. I choose not to go along with that, and I choose to criticize those who do.
Not a huge deal, and not a huge deal to say that I think it’s shitty.
