Pet pictures!

Is he a polydactyl? Looks kind of like he has a “thumb”.

He’s polydactyl like the sun is kinda warm.

His front “mittens” look like that b.c each paw has an extra thumb, and then each thumb also has its own extra thumb coming out the side of it. All fully clawed.

Each back foot has an extra toe as well.

One of my favorites to say about him is, “I moved to the Mitten State, and got a mitten cat!”

Here’s a good idea of what I meant.

Note that not a single pointy is even touching my skin.

Got home yesterday afternoon and found my sweet donkey had died. He hadn’t been sick, and it appears he just lay down in the pasture and went peacefully to sleep.
This is a picture I took of him a couple of weeks ago. The vet had come out to see our horse, but Joey wanted to get in there and express his concerns as well. He was always very attached to the other animals. In fact, he was always empathetic with everyone, a loving little Eeyore.

How terribly sad. What a sweet-looking creature he was, too!

I’m sorry, @Dung_Beetle. He does look like a fine, loyal sweet companion. At least there is some comfort to know his passing was peaceful. I lost my first llama the same way. Went down to the barn one morning and just… dead. He was old, though, so it wasn’t too much of a surprise. Still hurts, no matter how they go.

Hugs to you on a difficult day.

@Gatopescado, happy to oblige. I’ll see what I can do about more Ollie pics after I recover from my COVID jab. Today I feel like Ollie shit.

Thanks, y’all. I can’t complain too much, we all gotta go sometime and I’m glad it was easy for him. But dang, it’s been a rough year.

@Dung_Beetle, I’m so sorry. A hard day in a hard year. I’m glad he went easy; but easy for the ones who go, while it helps some, doesn’t make it easy for the survivors.

I’m so sorry. I hope when it’s my time I can just lay down in the pasture and go peacefully to sleep.

I grieve for the loss of a loved one, furred or not. Glad that they left in peace, and not confusion and pain.

@purplehorseshoe - I wished my cats showed as much consideration with their claws. One is careful, but so paw shy that trimming them is a no-go even for my vet, so accidents happen. My other cat is … nuts, so he loses it without warning to crazy and rabbit kicks, thankfully his claws are trimmable!

And @Aspenglow, feel better soon. I know the pain, and it’ll be upon me in (checks calendar) 2.5 weeks when I get both my seasonal flu and COVID booster.

Thanks, @ParallelLines. I appreciate your kind thoughts. After lots of sleep, coffee, tea, water and soup, I’m feeling better. I expect to be mostly back in the saddle by tomorrow. I hope it goes easier for you!

I have the flu vax a week from today, but that one doesn’t bother me unless I get the high dose. Which I won’t.

It’s great when we get them out of the way, isn’t it?

I miss my Mauser. Your Ollie is adorable.

Truth right there.

Harry taking a nap out in a hammock on an unseasonably hot day.

Never seen a pet opossum before. How are they as pets? I wouldn’t have thought they’d take well to humans.

Harry says he’s offended by that mischaracterization. He’s a rat, not an opossum. A sweet, mischievous, adorable rat.

Huh, something about that picture is making him look a lot bigger than a rat.

Fluffy too! I would smooch him on the head if he’d let me.

Harry would let you smooch him. But he’d expect a Cheerio in return.

Don’t we all?
