“Why, oh why, is this Creature in My Home? – Reassure me, please!”
Poor, dear Luna, ever faithful, and having done nothing wrong, looks so sad and confused about this albino invader thing that’s about the size of a paramecium. I hope she got extra treats and scritches and comforting attention while said paramecium was on site, and I trust it’s now gone.
If anyone should get the impression from the above that I dislike yappy small dogs and don’t actually consider them to be dogs at all, well, with all respect to well-meaning and I’m sure loving owners of such dogs, you would be right. I think my impressions are partly coloured by the fact that I had one such dog living next door for a while, yapping away at random passing air molecules with boundless energy. It’s not there any more, I presume because the owners themselves couldn’t stand it any more.
But this post was supposed to be about dear Luna. I trust she survived the visit without too much trauma, and is now happily back to normal!
Actually I think Selah looks anxious too. I would volunteer to cuddle her.
I’d snuggle them both, at the same time or taking turns.
This post goes back a long way, but I just wanted to add that I happened to come across this picture of a border collie, and although the colouring is completely different from Luna, that adorable blend of intelligence and goofiness, plus the fuzzy ears, are very reminiscent of Luna (for example, the very first picture in your OP). I bet she has some border collie in her, or at least some similar DNA:
Is Linden wearing cat press on nails in the second pic? If so, how are they working out for you? Also, beautiful cat, very regal looking.
You know there are dogs that weigh less than 80 pounds, right? You don’t have to hoard all the bigger ones.
Well, they’re nail caps, not Lee Press-On Nails ( ), but they work out fairly well. Both of the boys let me put them on without much of a fuss, but I started when they were both very young. If your older cat will let you handle its paws, you might also have some luck - my parents had a cat who was older than 10 years when they started capping her because she enjoyed drawing blood while kneeding and she was well used to people grabbing her paws to stop her.
Yeah, I vaguely remember a time when we were looking for one dog…the rest just sort of happened!
Oh, a funny story about the first time Linden got caps on -
I started Poe with nail caps first, because even though he was a 6lb 3.5 month old, he was still a clumsy baby and accidentally scratching me pretty badly when he fell off my lap. Linden had to wait another couple of weeks until he was seen by a vet for their shots and the vet could confirm that his extra toes were firmly attached to his paws at 4 months-ish. They are nicely attached, so we didn’t have to worry about the nails catching on something and tearing his toes, which can happen in some double-pawed kittens who then have the nail but not the toe removed.
So that night after the vet’s, I had him folded up comfortably on my lap and I began. Even with a few weeks delay he was still very small at the time. He was such a good boy - maybe because I’d been playing with his paws to get him used to it for 6 weeks - and let me put on all 12 caps for his little front feet. But when I looked again, some of the caps were missing, so I must’ve miscounted or the glue didn’t work, right? I didn’t want to upset him by getting up, so I shrugged and decided to look for the ones that fell off later. I put another 2 caps on and before I realized when they were all “missing” from the paw I was working on that he’d pretzeled himself so well the “missing” caps were on a back paw and now he had a grand total of 14 nail caps on 3 feet
Okay, I’ll try this. I recently got a Blue Heeler puppy. My husband named him Crocodile, which is perfect as he is currently teething. He’s four months old today. https://www.instagram.com/p/COqLWcxglS0/?utm_medium=copy_link
He’s adorable! Skritches!!
Oh, that looks like a trouble-dog! Sweet thing!
Thanks! He’s a handful but I need the exercise.
What a cutie! Needs many skritches!
Cute! Skritches and belly rubs!

Luna needed a bath. Waking up in a good mood, I had this shit done by 730am:
Luna dries, gets in the house. She needs to go out, let her out while on the phone.
5 minutes later, I call my freshly-cleaned dog, only to find that she comforted herself by rolling in dirt.
2 baths, 2 hours, 1 dog:
She is definitely sulking in that second picture. She no doubt feels it is grossly unfair to subject one innocent pup to two baths in one day.
Looks like your waking up in a good mood put her in a bad mood!
– she clearly doesn’t want to smell the way you want her to smell.
