Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema Suck

Why do they have to release The Two Towers in December? What, just to win some Oscars? This is my busiest time of the year and I can’t take today off work to go see the movie. Damn you Peter Jackson. I’ll have to go tonight.
Also, how can I watch the 3 1/2 extended edition right before I see the movie? If I get home by 6:30 the EE will run until 11:00. The last show is at 10:40. You screwed me again, Jackson.

It’s on again tomorrow, there BZ00000. As well as all weekend…

I gotta wait till freekin Friday when I get paid to go see it. Damn it, the film will be all scratchy by then.

:frowning:

Blame New Line. They’ve been a bargain-basement outfit for so long they’re eager to get to the top, now that they have a hit, not to mention a guaranteed three-movie franchise, not to mention a sure seller THREE YEARS IN A ROW!!!

Only logical that they’d wanna maximize their profit potential from it. Releasing it around Christmas is plainly part of that.

I sincerely doubt that Peter Jackson had a say in precisely when the films would be made available for public viewing…

Don’t sweat it. I’m sure it’ll be playing in the theaters for all of January, if not into Feb. Hopefully, you can squeeze it into your busy schedule by the time it closes.

I’ll be waiting until the end of January just because I can’t stand massive crowds.

What? Not one rolleyes-- what has happened to the Pit.

Fine, I will do it then.

[clears throat]

I see Peter Jackson’s orcs got to you, too.

But my coupon expires at the end of the year.

And I want to see it NOW.

Well, BZ, obviously Peter Jackson, the actors, stuntmen, production crew, post-production staff, marketing people, and the remainder of the crew involved in making these movies for the past three freaking years failed to get the memo that it would inconvenience you if they brought out the movies at a time when they would recoup their costs and make them a reasonable sum beyond that. You should immediately write to them and make them aware that the world revolves around you and your convenience, and hold your breath waiting for their reply. The fact that you have a coupon that will expire before you can free up the time to go see it should be a telling factor. When you write, you might mention that my wife and I are juggling the question of whether we can free up the money to see it, even though it’s something we’ve been waiting for for years, or whether we need to save the cost of the two admissions for when we run completely out of money. But I’m sure that your problems will move them to change their operations for your convenience.

Sheesh!

I’d personally blame New Line too. These are the same morons who release the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy some time back in the mid to late 80’s.

IDBB

Yeah, that bastard should have shrank each movie down to 90 minutes! Heck, why couldn’t they shrink the trilogy down to two hours?

We can clearly see that Peter Jackson is an uncaring bastard. They should have retained Bruckheimer to direct this … Tom Cruise could have been Frodo, Sean Connery cast as Gandalf, and Val Kilmer would be Samwise Gamgee “You can be in my fellowship anytime, Frodo.”

What elf6c said.

Poly -

I wish you and Mrs. Poly were closer.

My roommate and I would take you. Our treat.

Of course, you’d have to wait until after the first, when she gets paid, but hey…

We should dig up Tolkien and rebury him in contempt of writing such a long book.

Yeah god forbid a movie studio release one of the most anticipated movies of the year during a time of year when most of the population will be having time off from work and can go see it.

Well, I have a ticket for tonight but it’s the 9:50 show and frankly I’d rather just wait and see it later. I’m going to be whipped on Thursday with such a late bedtime.

Who wants to drive to Ann Arbor and use my ticket?

Is this really a rant against Jackson and Newline, or just some frustration about having trouble getting to see the movie?

If the former, it is a crock and it does stinketh. I can hardly blame Newline for slating the release during one of two of the years busiest movie seasons; considering they invested US$300MM and committed to a full three movies right up front. It was a huuuuge risk. I applaud them for it, and hope they take home bags of money. Originally I took issue with the year lapse between books, but honestly a year is the life cycle of a release when you factor in rentals, sales etc. They can’t be blamed for not eroding their own market.

W. - who hopes to see an movie adaptatoin of The Silmarillion in his lifetime.

You should call Jackson and ask him what the hell he was thinking, sheduling the last showing at your theater for 10:40. There’s no excuse for that.

I’ll do that. Do you have his number.
Jeez, this was just a lame rant about not being able to see the movie the first day. No need to take it so serious everybody.

Actually, no. If you start watching at 6:30, the extended edition will be over by 10:00 p.m., leaving you plenty of time to get to the theater for a 10:40 screening, especially if you bought your tickets on line at fandango.

Happy Holidays!

Now there is a bad precident. Imagine diging up every dead person that ever pissed you off just to rebury them “in contempt”(most likely upside down to really show them). Mind you Stalin did pretty much the same thing to Hitler over the space of a few years.

Darkrabbit: They should have retained Bruckheimer to direct this … Tom Cruise could have been Frodo, Sean Connery cast as Gandalf, and Val Kilmer would be Samwise Gamgee “You can be in my fellowship anytime, Frodo.”

EEEEEWWWWWW!!! (barf smilie) Darkrabbit, you are a sick, sick, filthy twisted individual. I feel all dirty just reading that.
