Barring last-minute unforeseen circumstances, I’m in. I’ll be driving down (and if Reply doesn’t make it, I’ll get the “longest distance traveled” prize) so if anyone needs a ride on Sunday, I’ll be available. I’d also like to see the historical sites if anyone else will be touring them.
One interested visitor is all it takes to kick me into tour guide mode, so I’ll be happy to show you around after lunch, Little Nemo, even if no one else wants to join us. It’s possible olives (and her husband, if he comes) will be up for it – we’d talked about it when they came down last fall. (Last fall? I remember it was cold that day, but not when it was.)
ETA: Nemo, the Chinatown bus, though well this side of luxurious, is only $20 round trip from NYC – I’d be happy to meet you there and walk over to our rendezvous point, which isn’t all that far.
I don’t live in NYC so I’d need to make connections with luggage and everything. Not worth the effort. Besides I’m not going all the way to Philadelphia for a day trip. I figure on driving down Friday and back on Monday.
:smack: Didn’t look at your location. Plus, of course, if you’re coming down for the weekend, it’s a completely different trip.
Oh, I’ll be there. My MiL has agreed to take the sprog so I can enjoy myself. The question is now car or train.
Geobabe and I are newly arrived in this part of our nation (Central NJ), and we will hopefully need a break from unpacking. Put us down as possibles, depending on where the boys are and who can watch them (or if we can bring twin 3 1/2 year olds).
Yikes, Doper royalty! If your kids would be more or less okay keeping themselves amused while a dozen grown-ups … er, adults … er, large people with big vocabularies chatter away, I see no reason why they shouldn’t come – wherever we go will be pretty casual. Regardless, I’d love to meet you and GeoBabe (who’s Anita Vacation’s sister? or am I misremembering that? – if so, I’ve met your SIL).
Maybe Connie Francis is available?
Man, how the hell do I even get that joke, let alone make it?
So I feel like a tool for saying this but… I have absolutely no idea how to find how to get from where I live to Philly by public transportation.
Where are you?
We really need a ROFLMAO smiley.
Heh, she used to be known as my sister.
Penns Grove, NJ
Toss me in as a maybe/probably. I’ll probably be wandering aimlessly around Philly anyway
WomanOfScorn, if you need to go totally via public transit NJ Transit’s bus routes will drop you off right in Center City.
Looks like your best bet would be the 402 bus from Pennsville to Philly which picks up at Broad and Main in Penns Grove and will take you to 6th & Race then Broad & Vine
If you don’t need to use the bus then the closest relatively safe PATCO station would be Collingswood. Ferry Ave might be closer (it’s the station I use, being from Gloucester) but I wouldn’t necessarily call it safe.
How the mighty have fallen …
Updated list – keep 'em coming, gang!

Wow. How did you figure that out?
Meros is very smart, that’s how.
Born, raised, and live in Gloucester City (just south of Camden). The 402 was what I used to take into Philly during a brief period when I didn’t have a working car and I take PATCO every day to get to work.
As far as knowing where the 402 stopped in Penns Grove, i just checked NJ Transit’s site
Bwahahaha ha, snerk. (Sorry, I’ve got a cold.) The GeoBills have a toddler seat on their royal throne!
Add me to the list, and I’ll make sure they bring the twins.
Hey, have a little respect for your little sister!
OK, I got nothin’.
Dayum, this is turning into quite the event!
