Philly Doper Pasta Dinner

For the next Philly Doper Dinner, I’d like to schedule a trip to Olive Garden on City Ave, for Sunday May 1.

Why that day? Because that’s the end of Passover, and a traditional time to go out and eat pizza and/or pasta.

(It’s also a good evening for me to hold a birthday party, my birthday being May 2.)

Who’s in? DocCathode? twickster? The other usual suspects?

Well, I don’t observe Passover – but I’m always up for Italian. I’m in.

bump for the mid-week crowd.

What time were you considering?

7 PM or so. What works for you?

You know, I could so go for a Dope dinner right now, but we’re utterly broke, so it’ll have to wait. I’ll have to keep an eye on when y’all get together over the next few months - hopefully I’ll actually have some cash by then.

Hmm…let me talk to supervenusfreak…we’ll be going through or right by Philly about that time on May 1, coming back from Bear Trek weekend in Connecticut.

Come to our 'fest May 21. It’s not such a long drive, and dinner’s on us.

We’d join you, but we’ve got to joinlisabethnyc for her Avon Walk for the Cure (breast cancer) in DC that day.

That works fine. I get off of work at 5.

Count me out. Everything I’ve ever had at Olive Garden has tasted the same. Plus, the last time I was there a member of the party asked if they could have extra shrimp with their dish. Our server explained that wasn’t possible because all meals were made offsite, frozen, sealed and shipped to the restaurant. There was no supply of shrimp in the restaurant. The only way to get extra would be to open one of the other meals and leave it shrimpless.

Instead, I’ll just walk to the Wawa and gorge myself on leavened TastyKakes (nobody bakes a cake as tasty as a TastyKake!) and the many candies sweetened with high fructose corn syrup.

Ginger, now that’s an enticing prospect! I’ll jot it down on the calander and see if’n we can keep it open. If so, I’ll shoot you an e-mail so we can keep in touch (I don’t check the boards nearly as often as I should anymore, so email would be fine).

Be good to see you again.

Happy Passover!

Just a reminder, this dinner will be at 7 PM, Sunday May 1, at Olive Garden on City Ave. at Belmont Ave. Please check in by Friday morning to say that you’ll be at dinner. As usual, if a reservation is needed, it will be under the name “Cecil Adams.”

I have some relatives in University City, and I invited them to join us at dinner. I think they’ll fit right in.

We need to bow out, unfortunately. The trip home is going to be hectic enough without deliberately driving into the city, I’m afraid.

:frowning:

We’re possibles, depending on Dave’s finals schedule.

If nothing else, I can go.

In case it wasn’t clear – I’m in. The lovely M, who often accompanies me on these occasions, will not be joining us, however.

Hiya, twickster. I figured you were in.

Ginger, I appreciate your taking part in the Walk for the Cure. It’s a very worthy cause.

Head count so far:

Damn, I hate to do this – but I’m looking really iffy. Sunday I’m going to help a friend rototill his garden, which is going to take all day. Plus he lives up in Mercer County, so there’s an hour ride home after. Clean and presentable on City Line at 7:00 – I’m not sure it’s doable. I’ll try, but assume not.

Last call…

I’m out. Airman is working, and I still have a paper to write.

Robin

Sorry, but I’m going to have to cancel as well.
