I’ll say… no wings. If he’s got a cowl like Batman, then the wings are okay. If they’re making this more like a helmet, I don’t think the wings will work. They’d be weird on a helmet. Like goofy decorations.
And I agree with whoever said the A looks a little weird on the helmet, but that’s still works okay. The wingy ears wouldn’t so much, IMHO.
I’ve been a CA fan for decades and always hated the wings.
Yeah, of all the superhero properties out there, Captain America seems like one of the easiest to translate into an effective movie. His super powers aren’t particularly flashy - he doesn’t fly or shoot lasers out of his eyes or teleport, he’s just super-athletic and highly combat trained. Nothing that would be particularly hard to portray on screen. His origin story is one of the more plausible out there, and has a great built in character hook. They can get a lot of mileage out of the “man out of time” angle, plus watching Nazis get the tar beaten out of them never gets old. The biggest surprise here is that it took this long for the movie to get made. I’d have expected this to go into development nine or ten years ago.
In my case, decades of consistently justified pessimism. That and the picture of the stupid-looking suit.
You might have said the same of the Punisher.
The thing about The Punisher is that, outside of his fruity-looking white boots and skull-head shirt in the comics, he’s just another gun-wielding vigilante looking for revenge. I’ve seen about 9,000,000 movies based on that premise. Most of them low budget and shitty.
Admittedly, there’s not a shortage of costumed hero movies either. Captain America is, essentially, a non-psychotic Batman whose motivations come straight out of the Boy Scout manual. One way to play this movie might be to have his old fashioned ethics and patriotism conflict with our modern deeply cynical society. (I understand they’ve already done this in the comics.) There should also be some boobies.

I don’t think the suit looks that bad. Certainly not as bad as it could be. I think a lot will depend on how the movie is handled. I am much more worried about the casting than the suit.
The movie is going to be about his WWII experiences, it’s not set in the modern day.
Awesome. Another guy-in-tights movie. Will wait for cable.

Well, who cares about that? Thoughtful examination of his internal conflict can be replaced on a 1-for-1 basis with scenes of him fighting hot, topless SS bitches and the movie will still be a monstrous success.
If that’s the way they’re rolling, I will definitely not be waiting for it to be shown on cable. Just a data point.

FTR, that suit really does remind me very strongly of The Comedian in his later leather armor. The helmet is disturbingly like the gimp mask he wore.
