Pins and needles

So. I’ve given notice here at work, and have a sort of yes on a new position doing something I would like very much. The problem is, that whether or not I actually get the job is not directly in the hands of the folks I would work for. As far as they are concerned, the job is mine. The job would involve the development of a new software product which won’t be read to market for a couple of years. For this reason, the company needs external financing. When they get the financing nailed down, then the official hiring notices go out and I’ll have my new job.
At the end of December, I was told that the financing should be taken care of by the end of January, and that I should call back then. Today I called, and the person who could actually tell me yes or no was not there - he’ll be back in the office on Monday. I got connected with another higher up, who told me that the finances are all nailed down and finalized, and that he had seen the personnel guy going through the applications yesterday - but couldn’t tell me if notification was sent out or if I was among those to be notified.
I’ve got a tentative (depending on the finances) oral approval of my application, and verification that the finances are taken care of, but no positive “yes, come work for us.”
I’m on pins and needles waiting for mail tomorrow, or a chance to call in again on Monday. I’m dying to know, and can’t find out for another couple of days.
