Basically all bulletin boards give users the ability to turn of avatars. I’ll bet it’s the same at that board. You just go into your User CP and there will be a control to disable them. Simple.
Yes, it has that feature. UserCP > Board preferences tab > Edit display options, if anyone’s interested.
That is bullshit on the both parts and you should know it.
You don’t have to pay to avoid ads, if we wanted to avoid ads it would be fairly simple to do. Assuming that **Baldwin **is paying to keep his charter member title is just an assumption and not a fact. You do not and cannot know that unless he has said he does.
As to possible reasons people pay: More PM storage, the ability to have a profile picture, to keep their title, to display their location and/or number of posts, the fact they don’t want the ads but are more than willing to contribute the small yearly fee to help keep the board running.
Why don’t you dial back the snark when you are posting opinions about other posters. You have honestly come across the last week as someone very judgmental and as you are supporting the administration of the board you have been allowed to get away with snide remarks and junior modding that few others could get away with.

As I made clear with my second post, which you helpfully supplied, but you didn’t address, I’m not saying anything about the motivation of the people who paid. I’m saying that they aren’t paying for the privilege of posting, because that’s a right anyone who registers with the forum has, paying member or not. This is important only in the context of assertions that they have purchased some sort of right, as was done by Baldwin when he said:

Wrong. I pay to post here. The fact that others post w/o paying does not change that fact. If I pay to post because I don’t want to see ads, I’m still paying to post at the boardin the way I wish to participate, ditto if it’s cause I want to support the board, ditto for any other reason. You may wish to point out an irrelevant piece of data, but it does not change anything.

My motives in paying had nothing to do with avoiding ads, which I could already do, or with what title was under my name. I, and I’m sure many others, paid because WE VALUED, AND WANTED TO SUPPORT, THE BOARD WE HELPED CREATE. That should mean something.

There’s a load of bull if I’ve ever seen one. The fact is, we’ve been pretty lenient with virtually everyone who’s posted in these threads, meaning we’ve overlooked quite a few insults and other behavior that’s crossed the “don’t be a jerk” line, and it doesn’t matter on which side of the argument the poster(s) have fallen.

Hi, thank you for making it a note and not a warning. Considering the fact that what I said was pretty mild and barely an insult (coming across as very judgmental is insulting I guess) I can only assume my post was reported for some reason.
I will not violate your note, but as you quoted me in your post I do need a small clarification. Did anything in my post actually come close to the “don’t be a jerk” line? I did not use the terms “brown-noser” or “ass-kisser”. My post went into a detailed refutation of DS’s post to Baldwin.
Does saying someone junior mods now constitute a problem?
Or was my post sufficiently mild that is was convenient to use to ask the participant in the thread to tone it down?
