Pitting Brett Favre

Right before the pass, I said a little prayer, “Please, God, let Golden Brett throw an interception now, please?” And lo and behold… So you can thank me, or God I guess.

Also, it was fun watching the boneheads trying to call for a second timeout in a row resulting in them all milling around during the game winning play rather than attempting a block. Now that’s what I call destiny.

Philly certainly has nothing to be proud of from that game. It was ugly football, all around, and they just played less crappy than the Pack.

In any case, neither of these teams (PHI or CAR) wil be able to hang with NE or Indy.

Sorry, as an NFL fan that is neutral to the whole NFC rivalries, it seems to me that the Vikes choked wayyyy worse to close out the season than the Pack did yesterday.

I think that one was intended for his Dad.

Dad, go high!

Ahem.

Sigh poor Pack.

It was the 4th and 26th that killed them, but wtf was up with that lame duck pass attempt…oh well, at least he’s coming back next season.

Heh, I said it came down to who played a better game, not who played a good game.

There’s a difference.

Nothing to be proud of? Their QB threw for almost 250 yards with 2 TDs and ran for 100 additional yards. Which, by the way, was an NFL record.

Philly should be - and is - very, very proud of how well McNabb played. He played to the best of his ability and inspired his teammates to do the same. How else to explain Freddie Mitchell’s catch? Pinkston’s TD catch?

Thank G-d, I was really getting sick of all the mush mouth sentimentality. Football is football, kick, grunt, slam, y’know.

I promised Pack fans this morning that I’d give them a little time to heal…

but I feel it’s been long enough

Truly one of the happiest days of my dreary, sucky football season yesterday, and watching your hero, your ‘stand up guy’, your ‘role model’, your ‘angel’ Brett Favre REFUSE TO SPEAK AT THE POST GAME PRESS CONFERENCE just sealed the deal.

Can’t own up to your mistakes, eh my boy? Life must be rough when no one’s sucking your cock.

In my defense, I was counting this year. And you mean that you’ve only choked twice so far.

Cmon… the Panthers? Cmonnnnnnnn!

Already beat them once. They don’t scare me. Okay, they scare me a little, but not as much as St. Louis or Green Bay.

Workman standing by broken water main to Favre: “I think I’d have looked before I threw the ball.”

I’d have read the coverage and looked for the receiver first.

But that’s just me.

He didn’t have time to read the coverage, he was getting chased and he just wheeled and threw without looking. Mike Sherman said that Favre thought that his receiver was going to adjust to the blitz by breaking to the post so that’s where he threw. Walker stayed home on the pattern and it was like a punt return for the Eagles.

It sounds like an attempt to subtly blame Walker for the interception without really blaming him. He ran the right pattern he just didn’t break to the post after seeing the blitz. I don’t really buy it, though. The bottom line is you don’t just lob the ball up like that without looking. Favre was reckless, as he is wont to be, and it bit him in the ass. He should have just thrown it out of bounds or even taken the sack. It was only first down and the clock is not an issue in OT. A sack would have put GB in second and long but Favre gets out of those holes all the time. Even if the Pack had been forced to punt, that still would have been better than giving up a pick and an open field return. Favre made the worst decision possible. I know he’s a first ballot HoFer but he can still be spectacularly undisciplined at times.

It makes him fun to watch, though.

It really isn’t Favre’s fault. He threw the ball where he was supposed to.

The angel ran the wrong route.

Record for the playoffs…I remember Vick running for 174 in the regular season last year. Less than 250 yards passing isn’t exactly lighting it up. At least Pinkston posted respectable WR numbers; one of the precious few games all year a Philly WR has done that. 2 for 37 is not what you want out of your WRs.

Next week will be interesting. I hope for Carolina, but it could go either way. I think it will come down to a question of McFlabb’s confidence; does he believe he can throw a pass to a WR, who is defended by a CB, or will he continue to be a gutless wonder and dump off every pass to a RB matched up against safeties and linebackers. Or even worse, have no confidence in his arm (head) at all and pull the ball down and run.

I have zero respect for the Eagles as a team. Then again, my Giants were guilty of all of those complaints, and instead of being in the NFC Championship game, we have the #4 overall pick. So sad.

“I would have thrown it out of bounds”

or

“I would have taken the sack”

The reason the numbers are down is that so many different players get receptions each week. I’m sure you understand that, but your post makes it seem like the WRs are awful, which is simply not the case.

Huh? If there’s a problem with his confidence, I haven’t seen it this year. You do realize they’re 13-4, right? You don’t win 13 games with a QB lacking confidence. McNabb has poise and can read defenses pretty well, although he certainly takes too many sacks. Still, to suggest he’s a “gutless wonder” is ludicrous at best.

Sad is not having respect for a team that’s 13-4 and playing in the NFC Championship Game. That’s a puzzler. I mean, I can understand not being a fan of a team, but how could you not have respect for a successful team, at least on some level?

Remember, the Eagles are the NEW team of destiny and if you’re not on their side then you’re not on Gods side.

How can you have no respect for such a consistant team? I don’t get it.
