@Der_Trihs posted to 4 threads on Aug 25. Which, along with a host of other history on the guy, caused the mods to take action as described in this ATMB thread:
There is no evidence I can find that the mods took further action against the guy. And so to my knowledge, the suspension ended on Aug 28 as stated.
But his Summary page says he’s not been back even to read since that date. At least not logged in; there’s no tracking we can access of non-logged in visitors. The Mods or more likely Admins probably could track that if they cared to.
Anyhow, the early returns here 40-ish days after he was suspended is that he has flounced.
In keeping with the spirit of the rule to not beat dead horses, I offer no comment on the merits or lack thereof of the decision he’s seemingly made.
I wouldn’t call it a flounce if someone just leaves.
I will confirm that there is no current suspension or software based restrictions on his posting here. His choices remain his of course.
This is par for his course, isn’t it? I seem to recall the last time he was suspended he was gone for years.

My purpose was to unjudgmentally report the fact he seems to have left us of his own volition. In a way that other interested Dopers would notice. Nothing more and nothing less. I believe I have done that.
His suspension notice thread is, as always, locked. This news doesn’t fit the intent of the “What were you THINKING?” thread. Neither was/is he a troll so the various troll callout threads are also wrong choices. There are no other threads on point. It doesn’t seem worthy of a dedicated thread. So there is no best place.
This thread is plenty long enough and plenty dormant enough that the OP and many posts from yesteryear aren’t really the point anymore. Saying something negative here now would have been beating a dead horse and against the rules. Taking this thread as the “About Der_Trihs” thread, that is in fact the least bad place to nonjudgementally take note of his departure. All the others I mentioned above would have been worse choices. Leaving this as the least bad.
As long as later folks who stop by here can avoid the temptation to say something nasty to / about him, this will IMO have worked well.

He was not banned. He is not serving a long suspension. He has chosen not to return for now.
This was a reasonable place to post the observation. Unless he was being missed, we do have a general thread for that.

I also agree, flounce was the wrong term.
For some reason, this brought to mind the song by Racing Cars, They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, which is a commentary on a marathon dance, set in the Great Depression. (I believe it comes from a movie of the same name)
Basically the main premise, and relevance to our absent friend, are the lyrics:
Naah, I kind of agree with him, this bump had a kind of small-minded curtain-twitchy “Oooh, you’ll never believe who flounced, dearie!” vibe to it.
Those of us who give a toss have no doubt already noticed his absence all on our lonesomes (I know I did). Bring him up when it’s relevant to a thread - this one should be for when he inevitably pisses someone off after returning, whenever that is.
