Pitting TMWTGG for stealing thread ideas

I’m glad The Man With the Golden Gun is a Straight Doper and a goon too, but he really needs to stop taking threads on the SA forums and posting them here. It’s just silly.

Links?

SA forums?

My guess…

SA = Something Awful

Curse words?

You know, there are those of us who don’t ever read other message boards. If a thread is interesting, I’m glad to have it here. If not, it’ll die soon enough on its own. (With the exception of those interminable, pointless game/flirt threads, of course.)

Well said (both parts).

If he cross-posts, agiantdwarf – so what? If you’re laying accusations of plagarism – be more specific, why don’t ya?

What do you mean by cross-posting? He doesn’t come up with the threads, but he does post them on SD. Is that cross-posting?

I assume you are referring to the “Worst books you ever read” thread on SA. I started that one there too. My sn on SA is ArcticBanana, and I often post the same threads both here and there. That explains it.

Again, please. What are the SA forums?

Zev Steinhardt

The forums for the site Something Awful.

No, there was a thread on SA on naming books by a line in them.

Ah, thanks. I thought Gangster Octopus was kidding…

Zev Steinhardt

Actually, the “name the book by the line” is an old idea which I’ve posted here several times. The first one was way back in April or May.

Er, even if he did take inspiration from that thread, what’s the point of pitting him? It’s not as if the threads are anything but a simple variation of a game. Not some profound or mind shattering thing that could only come from one person.

So, we have one person, posting threads on two boards, with the same idea. That’s cross-posting. Again, I say: “So what??”

If he isn’t plagarising, who cares? Especially when it’s a game thread.

“Something Awful”, huh? Hmmmm.

Yeah, today I saw that my folks got a George S. Patton Xmas carld. Celebrating the birth of the Lord and the Battle of Bastogne. I shit thee not.

What’s the big deal, anyone?
