Just wondering if there is a way to include a .jpg or other file into a post without using a weblink? Every pic I’ve seen in a post is actually a weblink and not just a pic. I did a quick search and didn’t find anything.
This feature is disabled. You may only link to images, you cannot embed them in a post.
Is it just too difficult to moderate the content?
How much difference is there when someone who has a website can simply link to that website?
I’m not trying to be difficult-- that just comes naturally. I am curious though.
Also, is there an accepted way to link to a single image that is not on a website?
Administering the posted pictures is a nightmare.
If we’re supposed to limit our sig lines to three lines, and only use them once per thread, the bandwidth & storage space for .jpg’s would probably kill the poor hamsters.
If you go to photobucket, you can create a one-shot account for hosting individual pictures.
IANAM, but IMHO, it’s probably a bandwidth and/or hamster issue.

Yes. We’ve tried allowing people to post images. People kept posting copyrighted and/or obnoxious images.
We ask that the sig lines be small and only used once per page not because of bandwidth (though I’m sure that’s a factor) but because large and/or repeated sigs are annoying. That’s also why we have “don’t show sig” as the default setting.
I have no experience with photobucket, but I see lots of other people use it.
