This relatively simplistic tower defense game for the PS3 caught me completely by surprise. My wife and I were browsing the PS Online Store looking for more songs for Rock Band, and we just happened to see that this demo was available. We’d heard of the title before, so we decided it was worth a quick download to see what the game was like.
15 minutes later, we were buying the full game (only $10!), and two hours later, we reluctantly set the controllers down and walked away, bitter at our failures but still giddy from the experience. A really fun game for one player or two players working cooperatively – we’ve had a blast! This’ll be $10 well-spent.
So has anyone else played this? Any other opinions out there?
I work with the producer who handles PixelJunk for Sony. (I didn’t work on Monsters itself – she and I are doing two other PSN titles together – but I played the early builds when she got them in.) It’s a great game.
If you like Monsters you should check out their next title when it comes out later this year: PixelJunk Eden. Playing it is kind of like being a jumping spider at a rave.
I love PJ Monsters too - it’s great fun solo and co-op. I’ll be buying PJ Eden and PJ Dungeons on principle alone, as I love the PJ strategy (simple, cheap, 60fps, 1080p games). I’ve cleared all the stages in Monsters except two I think. Only around 10 rainbows though (it’s getting brutally hard now). Pochacco, have you heard anything about a forthcoming expansion?
And BTW I think I’ve mentioned this in the past, but if you ever need a tester with a PS3, I’m your man.
You’ve probably read the rumors on the internet of an expansion in the works. Unfortunately confidentiality precludes me from officially saying one way or another … .
