PlayStation Move: Who will get it?

Out of curiousity, where are you getting your sales figures? Also, it’s worth noting that the PS3 had serious supply issues at the beginning of the year, so “selling out” wasn’t much of a feat.

Here’s a good source.

As you can see the PS3 outsold the 360 worldwide last year and looks like it probably will this year as well. Interestingly, sales of the PS3 worldwide in 2010 have been about 3/4 of sales of the Wii. That’s a huge shift, probably caused by the Wii reaching market saturation. And, indeed, if you just look at Japan, the PS3 does indeed seem to have a slight lead over the Wii in sales this year. Sales of the 360 in Japan this year were, of course, atrocious as always.

By the way, I do think the 360 will continue to do well and probably outsell the PS3 again by a fair margin over the next months in the U.S.

Here’s an interesting tech article, by the way with some nice illustrative videos (and a bit of criticism on calibration screens  ):

Picked up a couple of move wands since I already had the camera and the sports game. I have to say I’m impressed. The movement is almost 1:1 with very little lag, and multiplayer is a blast. I thought the ball thing on the end looked stupid, but in action they can change and pulse with colors and the effect is kind of cool. It’s essentially a Wii that works like everyone hoped the Wii would.

The big question as pointed out before is how will the software pan out for it and how well it works for non sports games.

But so far, I’m digging it.

Played a lot of SC now, made it to the Champions cup in table tennis and gold or silver everywhere else. I suck at Archery, will take a long time before I’ll
even be able to beat silver. Using just one Move doesn’t help much. The AI for Table Tennis at Champion Cup level is such a tease … Boomer is playing high balls on purpose but still very hard to beat.

Looks like I am liking this game even more than some of you as I’m 1st or 2nd in my friends list for most events (twelve people with scores in this game on my list).

Also played Tumble mp with my mother, who really likes it and keeps up really well, and some more Flight Control (171 on a 2 star level my best so far)

I’m having trouble going back to none Move games. Will take a while before that passes I think - maybe even until 3 November …

1.5 million sold in Europe in the launch month, Sony considering increasing production … no figures for U.S., but apparently doing well.

And Kinect has apparently sold out every preorder in the UK and it doesn’t even come out for a month.

There’s hype. The question is really “where will this stuff be once people have gotten a chance to actually play with it a bit”.

Well, today I bought myself the Move bundle and a copy of EyePet. I still need to get a second controller and maybe the d-pad ones as well. Anyway, I’m hoping for being able to play the sports games with my fiancee and, quite frankly, I really wanted to try EyePet after seeing the reviews and the Penny Arcade comic. So I’ll give an opinion later once the controller is actually charged.
