In case you missed last night’s episode, it’s being re-run, again, Friday at 9pm on FOX.
Hey guys. Still taping strong. And by “strong” I of course mean “quite possibly may have screwed last night up”. Are they reshowing it on Friday again? I buy 4 six hour tapes. That’s 24 hours right? The show is 24 hours in 24 hour long installments. Makes sense to me.
How long does my tape last? That’s right - 2 1/2 hours. WTF? I can’t record on Super Long Play unless I program my VCR, and I can’t get near perfect continuity if I don’t manually do it. But at this rate, I’m going to need 10 tapes, and that’s just excessive.
So, Friday? Anyone?
Yes indeed. I am suspecting they will be playing the entire series on both Tuesdays and Fridays.
Montfort, you know, I thought I had everything under control. I double-checked my VCR and my cable box at about 8:00 to make sure both were set up correctly, after last week’s SNAFU. Then this morning, while I’m waiting for my shower to heat up, I turn on the VCR to see for sure and … the counter’s at 0:00, right where I reset it to last night. Consarn it! Friday night, here I come!
Munch, buddy, though it doesn’t seem to working for me 100%, here’s what I’m doing: I have to set my cable box to change itself to the right channel. You may not (probably don’t) have to do that. That’s what goofed up last week, among other things. On the VCR, I set it to start taping at 8:57 and stop at 10:15. This gives me some leeway in case my clock and the local affiliate’s clock don’t agree (a common thing with the local Fox affiliate especially). Then, as part of making sure everything taped right, I go back after it tapes and make sure I see the clock on the show move forward and the credits rolling, then I cue it up for the next week. And yes, 4 6-hour tapes is what I’m planning to devote to this show. I had thought about buying some 8-hour tapes, but I had the 6-hours sitting around since I’ve stopped taping The Sopranos[sup]*[/sup].
erislover, don’t forget Sunday nights at midnight on FX, for those so equipped.
Hey, you know this my-thread-goes-away-and-comes-back-again-every-week thing is kind of a trip!
[sup]*[/sup] Yes, I finally got a DVD player.
You know, I hoping that they’ll put this out on DVD. That’d be, what, 3 CDs? It would make my life a WHOLE lot easier.
Then I’d have a reason to get a DVD player!
More like six DVDs for the whole season. All the X-Files seasons that have been released on DVD have four eps per disc, six discs for all 24 eps. And I have them all. (Well, all the ones that have been released, seasons one through four.)
KneadToKnow, mi loco, just give it up. You are not good at this. Hint: if you double-checked and it still didn’t get taped then you don’t know how your VCR works. I hated the idea in the first place, so I’ll be cheerful when you fail. It was a noble experiment I don’t think.
BTW I’m only fooling around. Keep on truckin’!
Spy tales:
<bauer>Who are you working for!!??!!!<bauer>
<powers>Who does Number Two work for!!??!!!<powers>
They’re actually re-running last night’s episode on Saturday this week, because FOX is showing Big Daddy on Friday night.
Gracias, malboeuf! And great name - are you sure that 22 other bad beefs tried to sign up before you?
Damn! I was hoping no one would get what malboeuf means. For your information when I finally get married bad
beef(malboeuf) will be my last name. Lucky, lucky me. Oh, and 23 was my age when I registered in January.
Sorry, malboeuf, but I believe at least every Canadian doper would have gotten it, and a significant number of French-speaking Americans, too. (It’s amazing what you can learn when everything you buy comes with two languages on it.)
You know what would be funny? If they re-aired all 24 episodes in one marathon session after the show finished.
Provided Fox stays with the series for all 24 episodes, a “24” marathon on FX a few months after the series is over wouldn’t be too surprising.
Fox is already running the shows two and sometimes three times a week because it isn’t getting great ratings (Frasier, Smallville are competitors) and they need to make some money out of it.
You guys really need TiVo.
Another excellent reason to tape them all and watch them later … if they cancel it, I can just never watch it, never get involved.
Hey! I’m reasonably sure everything worked right on the first try last night! Whoo-hoo!
[sub]I’m such a loser. [/sub]
Well, my VCR hates me. I had it all programmed and ready to go (programming it is the only way to get it to tape at the Super Long setting), and it decided not to work. Apparently, there’s some sort of magical button you need to press, as there is no “enter” button. I’ll fiddle with it tonight (I lost my instructions).
TiVo?!? Those commercials crack me up - “finally there’s a way to watch the shows you miss!” Granted, my VCR is on the blink, but it cost $40. As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing TiVo can do that my VCR couldn’t do if it had that “enter” button.
$40?
Umm, I think “but” might be the wrong conjunction in that sentence, buddy.
KneadToKnow, you’re gonna love it, ya nutball. Kiefer has all the gravitas of his dad, without all the ugliness. He kicked ASS last night. Oh, but that’s discussion, isn’t it? Mea culpa.
Well slap my ass and call me a moron. I just checked my tape. The last thing it recorded was “2:59:58, 2:59:59…”
It didn’t tape last week. My stupid, stupid VCR. I’m going to continue taping, but I’ll be missing 3:00-4:00. And from the subjects of the “24” threads, it looks like that was a doozy. Knead, you don’t by chance have an extra VCR that you could tape that episode, do you?
Crapity crap crap crap.
In other news, Munch is nearly done with his semester, which makes him very happy.
