There was a record I used to love to play as a small child, about a railroad locomotive who befriends a tugboat (named Tuggley?). For fun, they decide to change places one day. All I can remember is that it was sung by a male/female duo, and a few lines as well as the melody:
“Let’s see how he floats!”
“But being a train, he went down down down down down”
“Instead of being an engine, he wished he were a fish”
Google is not helping. Can anyone else?
I’m going to guess that the song is Trains from the 1962 album Dance, Sing & Listen by Miss Nelson and Bruce (Haack), on Dimension 5 Records. The song also appeared on subsequent releases by the label.
ETA: I can’t find the song online atm, or the lyrics. I’ll keep looking tho.
When were you a kid? It helps to know what years can be eliminated from the search.
You totally fucking rock, Elmer! There’s no way that isn’t it!
That’s it! Thanks, to both of you!
