Please Help Me Find this 80s French Song [Solved!]

I wish it was, but no, she didn’t remake that song and I’ve definitely heard that one before. It’s not the female band either. I get close to hearing the words to the song in my head from time to time. I know one day I will remember something in the lyrics.

I’ve been trying to work with the clues in the OP, googling French lyrics and the word “mouche” (meaning “fly”), under the assumption that the fly noises also correspond to something in the lyrics, but I haven’t been able to find anything yet. I’ve also been trying to google with the word “paroles,” which means “lyrics” in French, to narrow down the search, but no luck so far.

To the OP: Do you know anything else about the arrangement/orchestration beyond the cowbell and fly noises? Are we talking a down tempo or up-tempo song? A “chanson” style song? Something synth-poppy with a beat or guitar-based? Sultry singing or a quirky delivery? Highly produced or something more stripped-down and bare? Just some idea of the character of the song.

It’s definitely a pop song, “dancy” and upbeat. Nothing club-like, but something you’d hear on a mainstream pop radio station back in the 80s. If I recall, I looked into the singer back then and it seemed like she had been performing for years before that, so her 80s music was an evolution in her career.

I thought I found it yesterday while browsing YouTube for the millionth time this week, but it wasn’t. The girl, however, kinda looked like her. Her name was Christine Jaquelin, and she sang a song called “Fou de vous”…

Totally not her I don’t think, but she has a similar look. Could be her and I can’t find the song? But maybe not. :smack:

Maybe Sylvie Vartan? She started in the 60s but has continued to record into the 2000s. She had a bunch of singles in the 80s and is blonde.

Also thought of Mylene Farmer, though she’s a redhead. But a number of her videos are in black and white and she could pass for blonde in them.

Nah, it’s not either of those two women. I remember something about the song. In her first lyrics, she says something like dommage… or tommage or something like that. It’s not Desireless’ Voyage. It might not even be that word, could be something that sounds like it.

It’s not a rock song. It’s pop/dancy. The video is in color, not black and white. The blond is goofy looking during the video. I’m starting to think the video is no longer online and will be much harder for me to find, unless I can find some French people who listened to a lot of 80s music back then and may know what I’m talking about.

I don’t know how to edit my thread to say Solved, but it sure is! After looking forever, I pretty much gave up. Today, I was looking at another video and tried to find a better version when I stumbled on another French playlist. And there it was. Her name is Claudia Phillips. From what I can tell from Google Translate, she’s a French singer but of American Origin… so she’s American but sings French. Anyway, thanks all for your help, and here’s a link to the video for those who may be purely interested.

Fuck me, that is one dire excuse of a song! The French lost their way a bit, but hell, you didn’t half manage to find la merde de la merde!

A chacun son goût.

The song and video reminds me of the song by French and English international-level footballers Basile Boli and Chris Waddle, “We’ve Got a Feeling”.

What. The. Fuck.

I guess I can see why that song and video stuck in your brain, but I’d have been doing everything possible to not ever see it again.

Kudos on an accurate description. Usually people’s memories are pretty unreliable in “help me find this ___” threads, but you nailed it.

Haha thanks all, and yes, it’s a video and song that shouldn’t be remembered but for some reason I can’t erase it from my memory. It’s the type of bat-sh!t crazy I can appreciate

Well, looks like I was on the right track here, but the fly/mouche was a mosquito/moustique in the lyrics. (And, sure enough, when I google "80s moustique paroles ‘oh no’ " Claudia Philips shows up #1 & #2 in my search. Shoulda thought of that, but glad you found it!)

No kidding! When I saw the mosquito part, I was like “oh if only I had known.” Thanks for all the help! Enjoy the song…if you can/dare :stuck_out_tongue:

That video is *aggressively *80s.
