I think this one may be un-googlable because I’m so cloudy remembering it. I saw it maybe 30 years ago on TV when I was a kid. It is science fiction, I think about an alien invasion, and in it, the people shrivel up from the feet up (kind of like the Wicked Witch’s feet only more graphic) and are converted (or absorbed) into balls of glowing light that were floating around. I remember nothing else, probably because the shriveling part got to me the most, even though the people didn’t seem to be in pain from it. In the end, we lost and everyone (either in that town or the whole world) got converted (or absorbed). I don’t remember seeing any actual aliens. I seem to recall the end scene just having a lot of glowing balls floating around.
I thought for sure it was Strange Invaders also but since you said that isn’t it, is it possible you are thinking of the episode of the New Twilight Zone called “A small talent for war”?
It has aliens and ends with a bunch of glowing balls of light. Well after rewatching it they are more silvery than glowing but maybe it is it.
Are you sure it isn’t Strange Invaders? That’s the thought I immediately had reading your description – it does feature aliens making people shrivel up and turn into blue balls of light, and the shrivelling of their feet a la Wizard of Ozis graphically shown. And they take over an entire town that way.
I can’t think of another film at all like that (not having seen the new TZ episode). Possibly you’re conflating two things, or confusing them.
Sorry, I came to post that you guys are right. The IMDB description didn’t click for me but the wikipedia did when I checked it. I must have blocked out the aliens completely. I am now looking for a site that supplies the ending because I remember not understanding it. I was very young and it’s still hazy.
