I’m officially giving up on a hand count at this point.
We’ll just show up and take our chances on tables – shouldn’t be a problem as long as we aren’t worried about a view – we’ll just sit in the back with the player piano. The view there is still good, and the beers just as cold.
Scotti, of course its on rain or shine! What’s a little rain in the Northwest? It’ll just keep the dust down. It’ll also keep the tourist count low, all the better for us.
Huh, guess this means that we’re not tourists anymore? Yay, go us!
Well, a wonderful time was had by all. Or at least by me.
We met in front of The Dog House Tavern, which wasn’t open yet. Hit some charming shops and then had a terrific lunch at The Dog House. Chit chatted a bunch. I didn’t hit Danalan even when he deserved it…mostly because I like his lovely wife so much.
Visited some more charming shops and galleries. (Langley appears to be LOADED with them) Went to an absolutely WONDERFUL park with a sort of shrine. I could have happily vegged out in that park with these wonderful people for a few more hours, but unfortunately I had to head out for an anniversary celebration back home.
It was so terrific to finally meet AudreyK…she and I have been friends for a long time, but had never met in person. She is a darling girl. Wonderful to meet KKB, and so good to see old friends Danalan and MrsDanalan, herownself and Cervaise again. We really have a great group of Dopers here in the PNW. I just wish I lived closer to Seattle so we could hang out more often. I expect that Cervaise would improve my taste in movies tremendously if I didn’t have to drive two hours to go to movies with them.
Also unfortunately, Amarinth didn’t get there until just as I was leaving. But at least I got to hug her, so that was good. She is such a dollface! We got to know each other last summer at the Vancouver DopeFest…sitting in line at the border coming back for two hours really cemented our friendship. You come out of something like THAT either liking a person a GREAT deal or hating their guts. I came out of it loving her dearly. She is intelligent, funny and a very lovely person. Sorry I had to leave just as she got there.
Well, I left then, so you will have to get further notes from someone else.
I had a very good day, thank you all VERY much!
Oh, I forgot…we also walked on the beach and talked to crabs some too. You know, those little bitty ones who live under rocks? They are so CUTE! I got a sunburn. Yes, we DO have sun in WA sometimes. But it was worth it. The sunburn, I mean.
I had a VERY good day.
It was a pleasure meeting you all and touring Langley with you. You folks made KKBattousai and I feel welcome here. Especially you, Scotti.
Meeting you was well worth the wait.
Langley is such a cute little town, and it’s set on such a pretty spot. KKB and I plan to head back up there as soon as finances and time (in that order!) permit.
Cervaise left me in awe of his mad rock identifying skills. I took home two rocks from the beach-- a fist-sized chunk of rose quartz (part of my brain can’t comprehend finding rose quartz on a beach) and a round grape-sized one that vaguely resembles the planet Jupiter.
Thanks for a fun day, everybody. I hope to see you all again soon (like, in three weeks, at the Seattle 'Fest :D).
