Podcast: Turn on Streaming

I updated my podcast app. for my iphone 4S a couple days ago, and now I am constantly being asked to turn on cellular streaming. I almost never got that message before. Why is it suddenly popping up, and is there a way I can stop it?

What app are you using?

It is the apple podcast app.

Hmm. I use RSS Radio on my iPad and in “settings” I can select whether to stream or download. Does Apples’ app have something similar?

You probably have “auto-download” enabled but cellular streaming disabled.

Under the iPhone’s general Settings app, scroll down to the section with iTunes, Photos, etc. listed, pick Podcasts, and look at the options linked there.

That is exactly the setting I have. But it is also the way it has always been and it seems to be acting differently now. To wit: Before if there was a gray down pointing arrow i would press that to download. If there was not, then the podcast was saved in memory I could listen anywhere. Now, many of the pods without arrows throw up the cellular data message. I really don’t want to enable cellular data because it would eat up my 3 Gig monthly allotment in no time (I listen to lots of podcasts).

I think it’s the App. I’m using the Apple Podcast app too and have recently been getting the cellular data message on playback.
