Post #63 of this thread got me thinking of women’s reaction to the kind of porn that’s generally thought to appeal mostly to men: closeup shots of sexual body parts and sexual activities, for example. I was curious about reactions, so poll coming in a sec.
For the purposes of the poll, I’m referring *only * to the kind of porn I’m describing: film or photographic close-up studies of vaginas, breasts, penises, sexual activity (focused on the crotch area), etc. Not porn involving a full-body view of two or more people having sex.
Oh, and if you want to share, does your sexual orientation have any bearing on your opinion? (For example, if you’re gay, do you like closeups of female sexual parts but not male?)
I don’t like porn as you’re defining it (movies of actual people having sex), so that’s what I put, but that particular type of shot/movie is particularly uninteresting to me.
I clicked “disgusting/offputting” but that’s not really it; I just think it’s boring as sin.
Porn is boring as generally made, anyway. Unless there’s charazterization and plot it’s as boring as watching paint dry. I have no interest in watching two random people have sex.
I chose “It depends on the people involved”: if an actor/actress is particularly unappealing, or if the sounds they’re making are particularly annoying, or if there are too many face shots, it won’t work for me. Usually, though, it does.
I’m all for it. I love checking out other people’s junk. Bodies are fascinating to me. One of my favorite porn games is to try to identify in what decade the porn was made just by looking at how the actors groom themselves.
Example:
Full bush, c-section scars, zits, cellulite = probably 70s porn
trimmed bush, breast implant scars, certain color palettes = probably 80s porn
Almost no bush to none, no physical imperfections at all = probably 90s porn
No bush, on anyone, female actors might have had labiaplasty, male actors might have had anal bleaching = 2000s porn
Recently, a friend of mine was showing me a magazine (I think a Playboy) in which she appeared nekkid – she’d participated in Stripperfest and was in one of the candid shots. That wasn’t enough for me, I had to go through the entire magazine, page by page, inspecting people’s junk and trying to decide what modifications the models had. A lot of labiaplasties and surgical alterations aside from boob jobs, seem to be really common now. I also try to decide if people wax or shave depending on how close up the pic/shot is.
It’s nothing more than morbid curiosity; not a turn on at all. I just find Teh Nekkid interesting, mostly because people’s genitals are usually a totally different color from the rest of their skin and that fascinates me. That and nipples. Nipples are interesting too. They could be on the brown side or on the pink side and ethnic heritage/race doesn’t always seem to have all that much to do with it.
I don’t particularly care for that angle, but I’ll put up with it for brief periods in an otherwise-good movie. I wouldn’t turn off the movie unless that’s ALL it was the whole time.
A lot of my enjoyment of porn comes from seeing the actors’ facial expressions, and seeing the “big picture.”
I much prefer a long shot (snicker) to close ups. I like the gestalt more than the details. Like Anaamika, I find too many close ups boring and my mind starts to wander. When my mind starts to wander, I start making lists in my head, and that’s generally the end of sexyfuntime.
Agreed. Watching a penis squelch in and out of a vagina in extreme close up isn’t exactly “disgusting” – but its about as sexy as videos of abdominal surgery.
I think I would like up-close-genital-porn, only everything I usually see is so unappealing. I really DO NOT mean that actually I want emotional-talkie-they’re-having-sex-but-you-see-they’re-faces-porn. Like Hello Again says, penis-vagina, up & down… it’s just boring. Oral sex too, it’s just weird, it doesn’t look at all like what I like. In fact, it doesn’t usually look like real oral sex, more like a lizard testing food and finding it inedible.
I think that’s the problem for me: it doesn’t look like what I like about sex. It just looks fake and slightly uncomfortable. If I found something that looked like sex that I like I would enjoy close-up-on-the-genitals-porn. Sometimes it looks appealing for a split second… and then, no.
Obviously, I haven’t tried very hard with looking.
This. I want to see the whole body, with occasional close-ups of the face. I like to see people’s expressions (unless they’re really fake, in which case… well probably the whole thing is a turn off).
I generally prefer written or drawn stuff, because I can get inside their heads better.
