FYI: Its Willard Mitt Romney. (Hopefully today is the last day he’ll be important enough for me to remember his full name.)

But I haven’t seen any convincing reason to distrust the poll averages, and they give a decent sized advantage to Obama, so I suspect he will win.

Obama is ahead in more than enough swing states to win, so unless there is a huge surge of apathy in going out to vote or major issues with the polling sites, it’s reasonable to expect him to get it.

On a personal level, I have listened very carefully for quite some time to the speechmaking of Mr. Romney, and I remain thoroughly confused as to what his positions actually are on several economic and social issues that are important to me.

Mr. Mitt’s view that magic can save the economy would be trouble, and people see that. Mitt:

It depends, of course, which markets you’re talking about, which types of commodities and so forth, but my own view is, if we win on November 6th there will be a great deal of optimism about the future of this country. We’ll see capital come back, and we’ll see—without actually doing anything—we’ll actually get a boost in the economy. If the president gets reelected, I don’t know what will happen. I can never predict what the markets will do. Sometimes it does the exact opposite of what I would have expected. But my own view is that if we get the—the “Taxageddon,” as they call it, January 1st, with this president, and with a Congress that can’t work together, it really is frightening, really frightening in my view.
