Actually, this matter was settled quite decisively on this board some time ago. None other than esteemed administrator Arnold Winkelried (or maybe his previous incarnation Jacques Raymond Kilchoer) posted a fascinating link that not only got to the bottom of the Ramsey mystery–but also showed how it was linked to the Nicole Simpson/Ronald Goldman murders.
I’ve tried searching with every key word I can think of, and I just can not find it, though.

I dont thnk it was the parents. I read about the case at crimelibrary.com, and it pretty much convinced me it was a 3rd party.

This case was oversaturating the media to the point that it became really annoying.

I live in Joensuu, Finland, and know about this case. I’d know about it without the Net, too - there’s been at least one documentary about it.
America’s glurge is the world’s glurge. Of course, one possibility is that it confirms to the America stereotype by highlighting those twisted child beauty contests.

The parents did it, as a sacrifice to me.
My theory:
John was molesting Jon-Benet. Patsy discovered them that night. She went into a fit of rage and killed Jon-Benet–she blamed her daughter for “tempting” her husband. John and Patsy conspired to cover it up. (If John reported that Patsy was the actual killer, then she would have told police about the molestation. They pretty much had to cooperate.)
My other theory:
The older brother molested and killed her. The parents found the body, knew what happened and conspired to cover it up.

I suspect that the Trilateral Commission, the CIA, the KGB, the Council of Foreign Relations, the OMB, AT&T, C. Hirsch Barris, the Milwaukee and Syracuse Common Councils, the PBA, the WPA, six old men in Newark, all 59 people involved in the JFK assasination, everyone who’s ever eaten flan, all the Presidents of the United States of America (including both the band members and the dead ones), and Joe from my car wash did it.
Creepy mom probably did it and Dad helped cover it up. But I give 30% odds it was the other way around.
BTW what gives with the creepy publicity photo they kept showing of JonBenet? The full facial showing her smiling, blond hair, etc - I swear my brain does this half-flip because #1 she’s hot, and #2 JESUS CHRIST look at the underdeveloped skull, the tiny primary teeth, this is a BABY she’s barely ready for elementary school - how the hell did they get her to look hot? What’s the matter with them? Is it just my imagination she’s hot? No, no, it’s some weird kind of trick photography - she can’t be hot - they warped her or something - what’s the matter with them? How’d they do that? How COULD they? I swear I’m not attracted to little kids - this is some kind of warped and twisted trick - it’s like they mixed their poor little girl up with a hooker somehow - if I can’t even figure out what’s going on, how could she make an informed consent to get tarted up like that???

I regularly visit crimelibrary.com, so I read their feature on the case a while ago. I too think a third party was the culprit.
I used to think that the JonBenet Ramsey case would be resolved quickly, and we’d find out that the parent(s) were responsible, as they were in the Susan Smith and Darlie Routier cases. I never thought that nearly seven years later the case would still be mostly unsolved.

Actually, I’m working on a theory that it was Elizabeth Smart. I for one haven’t heard an alibi from her.
