I very much want him back but the show is called “The Mandalorian” and not “Grogu.” On the other hand, Disney loves its money and Grogu merchandising has to be a cash cow for them.

I’m voting yes to both.

I don’t see how they could do it without have Luke Skywalker also being a main character, and I don’t think they can deepfake that much content. There’s been fan-talk of getting Sebastian Stan to play the role, which I’d be fine with.

I hate Grogu. Easily the worst thing about the show.

I think the show is moving on to the taking over Mandalore and there will be no room for Grogu aside from maybe an episode or two to check on him before Kylo Ren cuts his head off.

Who the hell is Grogu? It’s Baby Yoda, nickname Cutiest Maximus
And no, that story is done.

I’m glad that the title clarified that it was about Grogu in The Mandalorian–otherwise I would have thought it was about Grogu in Cobra Kai and as I write this I realise that I want Grogu in Cobra Kai.

I’d say no. I think that was wise to wrap up that story and move on. Mando is cool enough without the Grogu storyline.

Season 3 will be about ruling Mandalore, dealing with the conflict of Bo-Katan wanting to secure the DarkSabre formally via combat. Grogu will return at the end to set up season 4.

Before then we have the Book of Boba Fett show, where Din Djarin will also be appearing. So he’s got plenty of non-Grogu-related story yet to tell.

As for “will he”, in everything Disney does, money trumps all. Grogu is worth a heck of a lot of money, and there’s no way they’ll give that up. How he’ll appear, I have no idea: Maybe the Mandalorian goes to visit him sometime, maybe we’ll see flashbacks, maybe Grogu will use the Force to manifest astrally; whatever.

For “should he”, I’m less sure, but I think also yes. All of the remaining conflicts in the show are things that the Mandalorian (and hence the audience identifying with him) just doesn’t care about. His attitude towards the Darksaber is “OK, it’s yours”. His attitude towards Mandalore is “It’s destroyed”. If Bo Katan does try to come after him and kill him, I’m sure he’ll defend himself, but that’s boring. They need something to make the show compelling, and for the first two seasons, that was Grogu, and it’s not clear what they could replace him with.

Money-wise and for the widest audience, yes Grogu should be in every episode. But I’m hoping Filoni and Favreau can keep that from happening. Best case, he’s gone for most of the season and comes in dramatically towards the end.

I think that’s exactly what’s going to happen. Grogu is just as much a part of the show as Din is, so they aren’t going to cut him out entirely. But they need to have him away for a while otherwise there’s no impact from the Season 2 finale.

So like Giles with Dark Willow?

“Like to test that theory, I would.”

Then you create some new conflicts. He didn’t care about helping his bounty targets at one point, either.

Returning to the well of “protect the child” would just be a terrible idea. Move on, tell another story.

You need something that a person could very quickly decide, without prior history, is high priority, and you need something that would be an escalation from what you’ve already had. I don’t think anything other than “protect the child” can do that.

I guess we have our answer.

Wasn’t this already settled by Mandalorian Season 2.5, AKA those couple of episodes of Book of Boba Fett?
