In other news, Manhunt ends with property owner holding escaped inmate at gunpoint

According to Dale County Chief Deputy Mason Bynum, the owner of a hunting cabin on County Road 141, which is near the Coffee-Dale county line, went to check on his property Friday night and found Scott inside.

The property owner held Scott at gunpoint until deputies arrived.

Bynum said the owner of the cabin fired shots when Scott wouldn’t comply, but no one was injured.

DGU with no injuries. Escaped inmate picked the wrong cabin to hide out in.

In other news, POLICE: ROBBERY SUSPECT SHOT BY VICTIM IN WYNNEFIELD

When he got to his car, he realized he forgot his coffee inside, and quickly ran back in.

The man was sitting in his minivan when he returned.

“He was sitting in my backseat pointing a gun at me. He told me to get in. I’m not getting in. No way I’m getting in. So I ran back in and called the police,” said Eason.

Rabito Ahiatr, a neighbor said, “That was when I saw the guy run, and then I heard the gunshots.”

But it was not the suspect who fired. Police say he had come across another man and attempted to rob him.

Turns out, the intended victim had a license to carry and pulled out his own gun.

Philadelphia police Captain Drew Techner said, “This male pulled out his own weapon and fired what we believe to be three shots.”

The suspect was hit multiple times and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

DGU with no deaths. Robbing people indiscriminately in an armed society can eventually lead someone who does not intend to be a victim. 3 shots and 3 hits apparently.

In other news, Police: Man shoots way out of attempted carjacking

When the Impala pulled up to the man on the 16800 block of Rutherford, the armed man allegedly pulled out his gun and told the victim to exit his vehicle, Kirkwood said.

The victim complied, but had a gun of his own. The alleged victim, who Kirkwood said has a concealed pistol license, and the other man exchanged gunfire, and the suspect took a gunshot wound to the body. He got back in the Impala and was taken to an area hospital.

That’s where police found him minutes later and arrested the 28-year-old male about midnight, Kirkwood said.

DGU with no deaths. 2v1 and the one prevailed. Another case where an attacker had a gun drawn and the victim was able to come out ahead. Depending on the fact pattern, it may be better to simply drive away, but I won’t second guess a regular person in a crisis situation like that.

In other news,Man arrested in connection to Amelia home invasion

Amelia Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home along the 19000 block of Harrisons Road at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

“One male suspect was injured when he and the homeowner exchanged gun fire. That suspect was transported to VCU Medical Center by Med-flight. The homeowner and his family were not injured in this incident,” a Amelia County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said. “The second suspect immediately fled the scene in an unknown vehicle prior to the Sheriff’s Office arrival.”

DGU with no deaths. 2v1 and the one homeowner prevailed. The robber who was injured was a felon in possession of a firearm, among other crimes he was charged with. That didn’t seem to prevent him from acquiring a firearm.

In other news, Man attempting to break into home shot and killed, sheriff’s office says

Gary Peterson had been skulking around Traylor’s home, witnesses told police, and attempted to break in at 3:30 a.m… He was dressed in black clothing, a dark mask and carrying a paintball rifle.

But Traylor fought off Peterson in a violent struggle, retrieved his own firearm, and delivered a fatal shot at 530 NW 30th Terrace, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

DGU with one death. Intruder brought a paintball gun to a gunfight. The intruder was released from prison 5 months earlier and had a history of robbery with firearms.

The store seems so big in that video. A lot of wasted square footage and businesses pay a premium for it. They are robbing themselves with their commercial lease.

I’m not sure how the clerk missed that guy so many times. Unless it was adrenaline and excitement.

In other news,Pregnant woman shoots home intruder

Two days ago, Turner said she heard somebody breaking into her house at the same spot. Early Friday morning, she said she heard somebody take the air conditioner out of her window and climb inside.

“I grabbed my gun when I woke up. And I walked out of the door and I saw them, the guy in the hallway … he was kind of close to me so I shot and he fell. And from that point, I went and turned on the lights and I called the police,” Turner said.

She said she shot two or three times, hitting the intruder once.

DGU with no deaths. Shot placement is critical and the intruder is expected to recover. Apparently after the fourth break in the resident is moving. I think after the 1st or 2nd I’d be gone.

In other news, Burglary suspect killed in Gwinnett home invasion

“The husband called 911 and reported that he and his wife were asleep this morning when they were awoken to sounds of someone trying to get into their home,” Washington said.

The husband got his gun, investigated the sounds and found a man climbing through the bathroom window of the master bathroom.

“The husband fired one shot but was not sure if he had struck the male,” Washington said.

Police later searched the home and found the man dead on the back roof of the home with a gunshot wound to the face.

DGU with one death. Intruder used a ladder to climb in through the 2nd story master bathroom window at 4am. I can’t expect that he was there for simple robbery, but it’s going to be hard to tell since he received a gunshot to the face.

In other news, Sheriff: Burglar shot dead at Dallas County home

Sheriff Rackley said dispatch got a call about a break-in in progress Monday evening around 5 or 5:15. When they arrived, he said deputies found this man, the would-be burglar, dead.

You are about eight miles from town and Swigert said people in Dallas County solve their own problems.

“It takes the sheriffs a little while to get out here. You kinda have to fend for yourself out here,” Swigert said.

She was not surprised to hear police say a homeowner shot the man breaking into his home.

“If I was in their place I would’ve done the same thing,” declared Swigert.“That’s why it’s a good thing to have a gun to where you can protect yourself.”

DGU with one death. I can’t quite tell from the story but it seems like the sheriff upon receiving the call arrived by helicopter? Sounds like a remote place and a good idea to be able to protect yourself.

In other news, Sheriff: Man wanted in fatal Union home invasion arrested

Investigators identified Kiser as the masked armed robber who ran from the scene of an early-morning home invasion at a Beard Valley Road home after the homeowner shot and killed his partner, James Dilbert Teague, 39, of Athens, Tenn., the release said.

Deputies responded at 4 a.m. on Thursday to a report of two armed men breaking into the caller’s home. Authorities said the homeowner fought the intruders and shot Teague, who was dead when deputies arrived.

DGU with one death. Apparently there was a grandmother and 4 grown grandchildren in the home when the two masked men broke in.

Y’know, there are roughly one firearm per person in the USA, meaning it averages out to more than one firearm per household. You’d think they would at least be able to figure out those odds…

( seriously, occupied-dwelling burglary has always been considered a more serious offense, and has been a rarer event, because of the likelihood of violent confrontation gun or no gun).

In other news, NC Teen Scares Off Intruders With Rifle

Kirk Puckett, a spokesperson for the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, said two sisters, 12 and 13, were inside the home when they heard knocking on the front door.

Puckett said when they looked outside, they saw three unfamiliar men. He said the older sister grabbed her dad’s rifle.

The suspects then broke in through the back door. Puckett said the 13-year-old pointed the rifle at them, causing them to run away without taking anything.

Neighbors praise the teen for her quick thinking.
