Post counts and questions

One thing I’ve noticed about the new board is that our post counts are rounded: 22.4K, for example. Then I noticed that I could get an exact count by hovering over the “22.4K” in my profile. Fine, but that figure for me (displayed as 22,027 posts) is not only wrong, but is far from being the “22.4K” I apparently have. In fact, I have at least 22,335 posts, according to the old board (not including the posts I made during the Winter of Our Missed Content, where all our posts were lost and not counted). Yes, I checked and recorded the number before the switchover.

Is it possible to carry exact counts from the old board to the new? Not that it really matters, but post counts are something I find interesting. Can we get, and display, correct and precise post counts for each poster, with each post?

Yeah, baby.
I worked hard to get my post count up there🙄
I want exact numbers!

Damn, I just looked up my exact post count, and it’s at least 50 posts short! At last a thing about the new board to be worth complaining about.

(not really, just a little annoyance I can totally live with. All in all the experience on this board has improved dramatically with this move)

As of now, when I go to your profile, I see 22.2k (22,177) posts, which is at least internally consistent. I’m not sure why some of your posts from vB might not be getting counted.

My post count is reasonably accurate - though I wish posts I create would show it.
But I don’t get what Posts Viewed means. Mine is just a few thousand more than posts created (49K vs. 47K) - and I’ve viewed a lot more posts than I wrote.

I agree with EinsteinsHund: it’s a minor annoyance, and not worth worrying about. I did the math, and figured out what I need to add to this board’s post figure to get my true post count. So, it’s a little arithmetic, and in the end, it’s all good.
