Post your WoW character info

I figured I’d start this thread to have people list what characters they have on what servers, so if we happen to be sharing the same servers, or are branching out to new ones, we could get together.

I only have one character now but I’m thinking about creating a new one for a PVP server.

Erandan (auto name generator picked it, I like it)
Night Elf Rogue (level 15)
Server Durotar (EST, normal)

Can someone explain to me the rule difference in regards to PVP for normal and PVP servers? It appears normal has some voluntary PVP under certain circumstances but it’s not entirely clear how it works.

I don’t want to be only questing and killing monsters indefinitely, it’d be cool to join up with raiding parties and raid enemy cities for some PVP fights (at least I hope that’s what PVP fighting is like in WoW, I’m new), so I’m probably going to start a new character on a pvp server.

Any recommendations? I like fun classes with a lot of stuff to manage so you don’t get too bored. Warrior doesn’t look too appealing because there doesn’t seem to be that much to do, but then again, rogue is pretty busy/fun due to the combo system. I’m thinking about a human mage or undead warlock, but tell me about your experiences.

Etheamyr, Dwarven Paladin, Argent Dawn server - picked a roleplay server, turns out to be the one most of my old buddies from Dark Age of Camelot are playing on. Paladin is a great class, but then I’m biased toward hybrid healers- plenty of stuff to manage so far, and I’m just level 11. You can fight a bit, heal a bit, buff a bit, debuff, cure poison/disease, well, I love it. But then, let me reiterate, I LOVE hybrid healers. Many people don’t.

On normal servers, if I understand it right, you go into PvP mode if you attack an NPC. You can also type /pvp to go into PvP mode. It wears off after a while and you go back into non-pvp mode. I’m sure someone will be around shortly to correct me.

As for my char–
Ashirlendy
Gnome Mage, level 9
Blackhand Server (Central Time, normal)

Don’t expect to see me on much though–I’m leeching off my roommates account until I can get my own (which requires me to have enough money for not only the game and an account, but a second harddrive as well–probably won’t happen for a while, plus I have to get a new RAM stick), and I can only play when he’s not, and he plays most of the time that I’m here.

Stephi - undead priest on Archimonde. I play with my guild most of the time.

Is it fun being a mage? Can you solo effectively?

Elune server- east coast server, alliance characters…as of today all level 11.

Aruvqan - Paladin, dwarf, mining and smithing, cooking
Kuscheliger - Hunter, dwarf, skinning and leatherworking, first aid. Owl pet
Sonnenschein - Warlock, gnome, engineering and enchanting, first aid
Margali - Druid, dark elf, herbalism and alchemy, cooking

<stands up> Hi I am Aru, and I am an altoholic…

All classes are good solo or grouped, and the skill sets let me be mostly self sufficient. Only thing I am missing is a tailor, but I know several people who are doing the tailor thing, but I have never had much problem cranking out the cash to buy bags or items in auction=) The names are all character names I have from Everquest or society for creative anachronism.

PVP server - you have no choice but have to be player vs player, which means they dont have to actually challenge you to a duel, they can walk up and kill you. PvE you have to accept a duel to kill someone in your group [alliance or horde] but you get automatically turned into PVP when you go into a disputed area like wetlands, so you can be killed by anubody there.

I hate PVP games, as the asshats tend to go there because they can just walk up and kill you, and their camping your corpse is valid game play in this game [abhorrent practice]

Thankfully on my server almost all the b-net babies have left for the PvP servers, or are not wanting to pay for the game and have left for some other beta test game [HUZZAH - let them go and bother THEM now and leave us serious players in peace!!!]

I like my 4 classes. Paladin is seriously great as you can heal yourself in mid fight, BUT you have no way to pull from a distance unless you get lucky and get a bag of marbles or certain candles that cast a short distance single mob spell, and unless you consistantly fight groups of mobs 4 levels or so under you, breaking a camp can be difficult as you cant nuke or shoot a single mob to cut it out of a group.

Hunter addresses this sort of, you get a gun [happy dance] and eventually a pet, but you cant heal yourself so are dependant on first aid and bought/dropped healing potions. Pet downside is you need to feed them or they can get nasty and try to kill you.

Druids get spells, and healing, but arent the best tanks, but after level 10 you get a damage shield that helps in the tanking part…and you can still heal yourself in combat.

Warlock is a pet class, and gets some nice nukes and can do some serious damage, but has no healing spells at all like the hunter. Not the best tank, but surprisingly effective because if it looks bad you leave the sacrificial pet and run to save your own life because you can always summon another pet. pet downside, the voidwalker pet requires a component to summon, but the component is easy to get if you use an imp[lowest type of pet] and can get a very low level mob to die for you=)

As aruvqan said, any class can solo or group well. As with most games, spellcasters have to be more careful, because you don’t take damage well. Mages have some powerful spells though, as well as the ability to conjure food or drink to replenish HP & MP. I can usually get a creature down to 1/4 health or lower before they even reach me, if I’m lucky it’ll only take a couple swings of my staff to kill them after that.

The major downside is armor. I’m limited to cloth armor, so I don’t have good defense. But proper spell use keeps that from being a problem. Mages also start off with a buff which often slows a creature that hits you–making running away easier if it’s necessary.

And yeah, it’s fun. I prefer launching spells to hack and slash anyways.

I have two characters currently. Asmirand, a level 15 Night Elf Rogue on Eonar (EST PvE or normal server) and Meris, a level 12 Human Rogue on Argent Dawn (EST RP server), member of the Blackwater Seawolves guild. Yep, both are rogues but it was the class I had the most fun with while in Beta so I just stuck with it. Eventually I might actually branch out and start a Paladin somewhere but for now, I’m just trying to work on professions and take my time leveling. In Beta, we all knew there’d probably be a character wipe (even though Blizzard kind of teased us about it up until the very end but that’s another story), so I did the level grind thing, ending up with a level 47 rogue. This time, I’m just taking my time, enjoying the game, exploring and building up a stockpile of coin and leather. Oh, and dying a lot.

WoW?

Wizard of Wor?
Wombats of Wisconsin?
White on White?
Walter o’Weilly?

Mr. Blue Sky: World of Warcraft.

Gurtok, 13th level Tauren Shaman, on Hyjal (West coast, normal). Shamans are a good general class. They can handle a fight (being a Tauren helps that a lot), plus they have good offensive spells, good combat buffs, and a few healing spells. I just got Ancestral Spirit, which allows me to resurect team mates. Can’t wear any heavier armor than leather until fortieth, and weapons are restricted, but you can still do a lot of damage with a mace.

Tiriole, 9th level Night Elf Hunter, on Earthen Ring (East coast, RP). Archery is a blast, tracking works great and is a huge time-saver, and I still haven’t started training pets yet!

I’ve also got two characters on Cenarion Ring (West coast, RP) that are around second or third level: Declan, a human warrior, and Balthazar, and undead warlock. Haven’t played either enough to really get a handle on their classes.

Lotharno - 13th level Tauren Hunter, Doomhammer (mountain time, PVE)
Lankester - 9th level Undead Priest, Kel’Thuzad (mountain, PVP) (shared with Ardred, group play only character).

I’ll have an alliance character on IceCrown eventually (when Arded goes to bed). I’ve tried several other characters in retail and beta. I have a low level Dwarf Rogue named Lor on some central server. He’s getting wiped for an alliance on Icecrown.

Pets are going to be the best thing that ever happened to your character, Miller.

(i’ll show my sig, just for you!)

So far I’ve just got
SolGrundy, undead rogue (natch) on the Hyjal server.

Pacific Coast
RP
Feathermoon so far it’s pretty empty so little lag and few morons.

Darkhold lvl 12 Orc Warlock. I started the character for role playing reasons (I have a back-story for him written out) playing him is getting a little boring though. My only strat is to nail a target with all my drain spells from a distance then finish him off with my imp and my dagger or if they stay back hit it with shadow bolts. If two of just about anything closes with me though I’m done for.

ColdBurn lvl 6 Dwarven Hunter. Second character I’ve started and except for the fun of using guns I’m not liking the character much. He might just get deleted if I don’t like him past lvl 15 or so.

Corpsefire (yes I know repetitive names but I didn’t really feel like being creative) lvl 8 undead warrior. So far I’m liking him. I usually like warrior classes to begin with and I just love the rage bar.

So who’s going to start the first Straight Dope Guild already?

Layne
13 Dwarf Priest
Uther (pacific time)

Having lots of fun with my priest. Especially since I found out the new talents. I’m going to gear him towards a Shadow priest.

Thanks.

For people who are starting new characters, any interest in all joining up in a common server and creating a guild? I’d like to create a second account on a PVP server, preferably eastern time. If we get enough people interested in that, we can pick one, and go meet up…

I’d definetly be interested.

So would I. Though my hours would be weird because I work at night.

I think we should choose one on Pacific or Mountain time though. They have many ‘low’ PVP servers where all the eastern time servers seem to be medium or higher.

Well I’m off to bed now. I’ll check this thread sometime in the morning to see if you guys have decided anything yet.

Nieroda - Shadowsong server. I have a troll hunter with a “best friends” raptor pet. I’m having entirely too much fun. If you need leather armor, look me up!
