Poster names you got wrong...

Kilt-wearin’ man, I like your sig. This female pronounces brachyrhynchos as: brach-ee-rink-os (as kiffa notes, brach sounds like rat and an equal emphasis on all syllables).

evilbeth, I too saw Rundgren for rundogrun. I am definitely getting a bigger monitor (that’s my disclaimer and I’m sticking with it).

Why, thank you Brachy. It used to be “A man in a kilt is a man and a half” but on reflection that sounded a little too insecure. I was greatly amused when I saw it on a kiltmaker’s sign at a Scottish Festival a few years ago.

My current sig I came up with on my own, because I’ve had to answer the question a few times and it took two or three before I came up with a witty answer.

I got sk8rixtx’s name wrong. In my head, it was “sk8rtrix”, as in “skater tricks”. Oops. So sorry, sk8rixtx.

I too thought rundogrun was “rundo grun” and that mangeorge was “mange orange”. Also, racinchikki has always been “rain chikki” to me and I wondered what that meant.

Another one: Drain Bead. I get that it’s a play on Brain Dead, but do I read it as “Drain Bed” or “Drain Beed”?

And if sk8rtrix isn’t “skater tricks”, than what is it?

Also, I’m very happy to know I’m not alone here.

Yow! Count me in as one who didn’t get the Sue Duhnym gag.

I pronounce canthearya as “Can-Theeria” and I always think of her as an exotic plant (though I know the real meaning).

Drain Bead frequently comes out “Drain Beard” in my brain.

I suspect G. Nome is short for “Gee, there’s nobody home!”

You can pronounce my name any damn way you please - as long as it’s not followed by “is a big fathead.”

I always say your name as “Ah-sah-mai-oh”, aseymayo.

Yeah, what in the hell is sk8rxtx’s name anyway?
I thought G.nome was genome?

Count me in as another poster who is completely confused about the pronunciation of “iampunha”. I read it as “I am pun. Ha!”

As far as my own name: The irony is that that nickname is a running joke used by my best friend to make fun of my last name, which has ambiguous pronunciation possibilities.
aseymayo: I’m glad you said that, becasue I really had no idea how to pronounce it. It just kind of slides through my head as “Japenese Mayo”.

A couple of others I have trouble with are Nickrz (He’s gone now, I assume), racinchikki (Makes me think of a mongoose :)), struuter,…and Fretful Porpentine. I had to not only read Kyla’s post here twice, I had to do my own name search to verify that that was how to spell his/her name. How embarrasing!

Whew! That’s a relief, Assy Mayo. I was afraid to speak to you!

Jaime. Not donald.

I always pronounced your name as one one word… Thespos. I figured it was your whacky form of “Thespian”.

“I was ACTing!” - J. Lovetz

I’m totally dyslexic on this one. I guess I’m the only one that pronounces it like: I am Humpina.

I never got Sue’s until this thread.

Now that you mention it, that’s what I thought the fist time I saw it.

sk8rixtx= skate-riks-tex

** Ike ** count me in on the ones who read the one thread as “Designated Hitler”. Imagine my surprise when I opened to find baseball stats.

Go figure.

I got confused by all the “bunny” names (missbunny, 3bunnymama and there’s at least one or two others). I was back and forthing on two different threads with 2 of 'em and kept thinking that it was only one. OF course, bunnies, ** do ** multiply tho…

This just killed me.That is one of the funniest things I have ever read. I was laughing so hard my kids came up to me scared cuz Mommy was choking on her tea and spitting on the keyboard. Just had to let that be known
But, I always have problems with the names around here. I guess half the time I don’t really pay attention and just peek so I see Fretful Porcupine, Seal-E-Man ( which I thought had something to do with seals and electronics for some reason) Iampunha to me is I am Punhama…I add the M all by myself but it flows so well. So I guess my problem is not paying enough attention…forgive me. BTW MamaHen is pronounced…I WANT YOU SO BAD!

It was always Seal A(long a) Mon, as in a pokemon…

My name is pronounced Speaker for the Dead, if any of you mixed it up…

Oh yeah, and I’m a guy…

Guilty:

Sealemon - Never had a clue til now
Fretful porcupine
Designated Hitler
iampunha

and MamaHen, for one fleeting instant, you became our beloved moderator manhatten:D

But Sue Dunhym… COME ON, people!!

Yes, I’m in the group that didn’t get Sue Dunhym’s name until now. I also read racinchikki as rain chikki. What’s worse is that I have a tendency to sometimes misread my own name as Serenity. And sometimes I’ll see the word “serenity” written somewhere else and will read it as “serendipity.” Bizarre.

How am I supposed to pronounce Esprix? I always hear it in my head as “esprit,” but I’m pretty sure that’s not how it’s intended to sound.

Truthfully, the first time i read it, i thought it was “impahuna”… which makes no sense either.

then it turned into “iamphuna”…

finally got the damn name right three weeks ago.

Well Kilt-wearin’ man, I don’t know about the rest but mine is an acronym,

Idiot
Making
Tasteless
Humorous(?)
Juvenile
Comments
Kausing (sumtines i dun spel 2 gid)

As for its pronuncian, you say just as you see it;
I’m the jackass.

Probably a smart-ass who took French in school:D. In French, the “x” in prix (price) is silent and the word is pronounced as the “pri” in esprit.
