Very little, it’s the dry areas: not only do they get little rainfall but rivers are kind of scarce as well (where there is a river in the Meseta there is a valley or canyon, so by definition that bit is not part of the plains). The northern plains grow mostly cereal, the southern ones have more grape but still lots of cereal. I’m afraid rain tends to fall mostly on the northern seaboard and on the mountains along the northern and eastern edges, but that doesn’t rhyme.

Well, he’s gone, but FXM always was on about nuclear energy…until his global warming kick. He’d bring up either, randomly, in any thread he was in, even if it had zero to do with the topic. Just sort of work it in somehow.
