“bible-bashing” and “bible-thumping” are different ways of saying the same thing.
The reason Shodan gets on my wick is because a majority of his posts seem to be about how mean liberals are, or contain a little snide remark about liberals or anti-liberal so-called ‘humour’, or be about how conservatives are so hard done by etc etc.

I always took bible thumpers to mean those who, as they vehemently espouse their views, thump on the bible as if to say “What I’m talking about is in here.” I guess the bashers do so to the point of breaking it.
Actually, I don’t want to give a misleadingly Pollyannic impression. There are some. I just don’t think anything good can come from naming them publicly. So I’ll settle for airing petty grievances.

Assuming you’re serious, you’re wrong - According to both Wikipedia and Urban Dictionary, bible-basher is a synonym of bible-thumper. It doesn’t mean antitheist.
