Posts where the OP comes back (much) later to update

One subreddit that I enjoy reading is “Best of Redditor Updates.” People share posts from other subreddits where the OP wrote about a problem or asked for advice, and then later came back with an update about how things are going with them. I was thinking, what about a thread that does the same thing for the SDMB? I came across 2 such posts recently, which gave me the idea.

A Pox on Your Dance Recital!
In 2003, Disdale vented about the time and expense involved in children’s dance recitals, which can take away from the goal of simply learning how to dance. In 2013, another Doper resurrected the thread briefly. Then in 2024, Dinsdale posted again, now having just attended their grandkids’ recital, and still feeling the same way about them.

Didn’t want kids and had them anyway? What happened?
In 2004, Interrobang had been talking with his wife about whether to have kids, and was looking for comments from people who didn’t want kids, had them anyway, and how things turned out. The thread was resurrected by another Doper in 2018, asking how things had turned out for the OP. Interrobang, seeing an email notification for the thread, posted that he and his wife ended up having 2 kids and things were going well.

Any other threads here that include interesting updates from the OP many years later? Since this board has been around for over 20 years, I’m sure there are plenty out there.

(I debated posting this in “About this Message Board” but I felt like that’s more for people with issues/questions about the software and policies of how the board is run. Mods, please let me know if this would go better in another section.)

Does this count?

Yes, That’s the kind of thing I was thinking of. How cool to have your question answered 8 years later out of the blue! And how stange that the thread was resurrected by a doper who only ever made that one post, and was never seen again!
