Hehehehe, Doggio! Thanks for the early AM chuckle.
As I am feeling somewhat better this morning, I’m going in to work, but I’m going to have hot lemon water to drink while on the job. Oh I so hope that any sickies will stay at home! LOL Seriously, though, it’s the folks who come to work while sick and pass their sickness on to their co-workers … seriously!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Also turned on the self cleaner for the oven as it needs it and I figure it’s best to do it whilst it’s still cool out and I can open the kitchen windows. I hate that smell!
Scottie (I like that one best) glad you liked the flirt. Nice to know I still got it!
doggio gmta and all that. “The Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator project” was the first thing I thought of too! MOOOOOOM’s going to blow up the Earth!
But the other half of that coin is that the non-sick ones have to do their work… at least in this case for me. Oh well - I’d rather do this than be sick.
It’s going well, and I’m learning a lot. Hopefully I’ll be able to explain back what I’ve learned to the bosses. (It’s really an informal presentation.)
I hope all the sickies get well soon!
And I hope the weight comes off quickly, Rosie. I imagine another bionic knee would be da bomb! Will you be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound?
My job interview in Cedar Rapids has been booked for next Firday. Wish me luck, I think.
Today is the second time I slept without drugs, though it was not painless. And I managed to put on my left sock this morning without a lot of agony, trepidation, or mechanical assist. That was far from painless also, but I guess I can mark recovery progress.
Yesterday, I went to a page for a car fire, and wound up driving the fahr truck. I’ve been bitching that I’ve been there as long as I have, and they won’t let me drive. I get the old standby circular argument, that I can’t drive because I don’t have any experience driving, but I don’t have any experience because they won’t let me drive. So, a 4 PM page happened, when most everyone is at work, and 3 of us show up at the station to take the call. I was senior fahrman, so I drove.
I thought Moooooooom’s project was looking for a replacement for illudium phosdex (the shaving cream atom) because world supplies are dangerously low.
Just a quick posting - I am back home, back at work and back to being irked. Had a lovely break in Brussels but was pleased to get home because I was still feeling grim although I have stopped blowing my nose every five minutes and now I’m just coughing constantly.
Got a heap of emails to wade through from stoopit students who need more clue by fours than I can carry.
Happy Wednesday! Hope all the sickies are feeling better or feel better shortly. NotKai, Carrot Cake - YUM! I shall have to make that next weekend.
I’m hoping to get some work done today. We have two switchboard operators: one has called in sick and the other may need to head to the doc shortly. I’m one of the backups. I’ve got too much of my job to do. It looks as if I dodged a bullet there, though.
Agreed. But… there are an awful lot of churches who think that if you don’t conform to their idea of proper behavior, then God doesn’t love you and you’re going to hell. ::cue ominous music:: It makes me really angry when churches, which should show people God’s love, show hatred instead. So even though it shouldn’t be necessary, I’m glad my church took the step to say that we aren’t going to greet anyone with hate when they come to our door.
mmmmmms, I ended up going with the coconut chicken with mango salsa, and it was really quite good and not hard at all. And I made coconut rice to go with it, which was really good.
The morning has been a little grumpy so far. I still have a sore throat except now I have a headache to go with it and I’m all out of aspirin. Also, I didn’t get any sleep because the poor Bubster was sick and I had to take him out several times during the night. He seems to be feeling fine today, though.
I forgot the joys of having a kitten in the house. If anyone remembers the pics I posted of kittens Klondike and Pancakes, well I did do something stupid and they are living with me. Klondike hides but Pancakes is everywhere. On top of the tv batting at the pull chains for the fan and light, on top of the bookcase batting at the tv antenna, on the windowsill, on the entertainment center, on the table, on me. Then she runs the whole circuit again. And at night I am awakened numerous times with a cold nose on mine and whiskers tickling my face. Last night I was privileged to receive the pointy claws neck massage. Yep, the joys of kittens.
Some days I wonder how anything gets done over here. I’ve got an order I’m supposed to work on. Last I saw it, we were doing designs. Somehow we jumped to we need it printed. But no one knows what clothes and what designs. Or rather everyone thinks the other person knows. sigh
I suck at any game that is strategy-related. Like chess. If there is an element of chance I’m not quite as bad, hence my obsession with poker and my love of blackjack, but if my success is dependent on my ability to plan or think several moves ahead I’m not going to do well.
Good for you, FCM!
This is day three of the new job, and so far so good! I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I can have my Droid here with me (turns out that I’m not sitting in a secure area), that my internet access seems to be unrestricted (I can get to Gmail, Facebook, LJ, the Dope, etc.), and that my desk is in an office with a door and a window (I don’t care that it faces the parking garage: it’s a window!). This is the best office setup I’ve had in years. The commute is averaging 30 minutes each way, which is completely reasonable. Also, everyone seems really nice and down-to-earth, and it turns out that I know two of the guys here from previous companies. Oh, and there are 3-4 lunch places within walking distance, which is awesome because lunchtime traffic around here can be a nightmare. Most places I’ve worked have only had one place within walking distance, so it’s nice to have options close by. So far the work is exactly what I expected from the interviews, which is good, and I’m jumping in with both feet.
In short: new job = yay!
All of that said, I don’t know yet how much time I’ll be able to spend online: I sit with my back to the door, and even though there aren’t a lot of people around I get a little paranoid. And my supervisor’s office is right next to mine. Plus, 2-3 days a week I’ll be sharing the office with the customer POC, and I will definitely want to minimize the web surfing whenever he’s around. Not to mention that I will be legitimately busy between now and the end of the year: there’s a big document deadline in early December that this place is just starting to ramp up for, and I have about 20 docs to update and deliver by then. So, I may not be as regular (around here! :dubious:) as I’d like, but we’ll see how it goes.
I’m glad that the new job is going well,** Missy**!
I took a little nap and it has helped some. And the bonus point is that something that I was trying to figure out while I was awake came to me while I was somewhere in the hazy post or pre-sleep area.
I’m so jealous. You have a window! I have a huge walled cube, one door. That’s it. But with my job, I have to be separate from the rest of the call center floor. I do have a whole lot of privacy, though.
I’m even more jealous. We have nothing in walking distance. NOTHING. But the streets around here are fantastic for walking at lunch: nice and wide, and hardly any traffic. And we have treadmills for when the weather is bad. But I would love to be able to walk somewhere to eat lunch once in a blue moon.
Hey! There’s a good MMP topic: describe your office and the surrounding area!
