Predict how long Paris & Paris will stay married.

The correct answer is “who gives a shit?”.

The reason that people give a shit is that we like the idea of an “aristocracy” (just not one that actually runs things) - a class of society that proves that there is in fact a lifestyle that’s somehow better than ours (even if it is impossible to achieve). We are facinated by and at the same time intensely jealous of super-wealthy people who basically can do whatever they choose to and they choose to live like hedonist simpltons.

I actually give Paris Hilton credit. At least she’s working. Sure it’s inane, self-indulgant work that’s high-paying and most people could only dream of doing but she could just as easily do NOTHING.

It’s a facinating thought really. How would you live your life if you never had to worry about money? If you could not even concieve of the idea of having to worry about how you were going to pay for something? Most of us can’t really because our entire lives pretty much have to revolve around finding a career to support us. That’s one of the reason a lot of “rich kids” seem like spoiled douchebags to us regular folk. We have to worry about keeping a job. For them it’s an amusing distraction. We have to worry about consequences for our actions. For them, short of killing someone or committing a major crime (and sometimes even then), what consequences? If you are worth 10s of millions of dollars, what’s the worst that can happen if you smash an $80000 car (once again assuming you don’t injure anyone)? You buy a new car? Money affords people the luxury of not having a lot of common sense.

Anyhow, it’s my understanding this guys some shipping tycoons son or something so it’s likely a quasi-arranged marriage anyhow.

I heard somewhere that the Wedding and reception will be closed to all press and photographers. However the Honeymoon will soon be available on DVD.

an aside, but I’m fascinated that threads like these always attract “caring about this is a stupid waste of time” posts. The irony of taking time to comment on other people taking the time to comment on something you think isn’t worth the time taken to comment is amusing to me.

carry on…

p.s. I don’t give 'em long.
