One thing nobody mentioned: If Obama loses, his daughter will be happy to have Dad back. (He’ll be more available to be part of their lives)

Exactly. The analogy I would draw is to a baseball team that loses on a umpire’s bad call in the ninth inning. The solution to bad luck is to be winning by so much that a run or two still doesn’t make a difference.
Romney ran a bad campaign: he got away with not disclosing his taxes, not disclosing his economic plan, not having supported the auto industry bailout, not having consistent policies on women’s issues over the years (or even from the primaries to the general), not differering from the President on foriegn policy in a substantive way, and about a dozen other ways that were entirely a matter of his choosing. It seems very petty to blame his loss on a natural disaster that occured in the last two weeks of the campaign–a good candidate would have built up enough support by that point to overcome any last minute snags.
But GOP seems not to want to learn that lesson, and so not learn it, they will.
