This is so sad, I cry for this 11 year old. I am not only sad because she is so young, but I am sad that she didn’t have someone to talk to when this all began with her uncle.

Just wondering … is 16 or 17 year old boy having sex with a 10 or 11 year old girl technically considered a “pedophile” as he was apparently a minor himself when this occurred.
astro, I’m fairly sure that the term pedophile refers to anyone who has a sexual attraction to prepubescent children. If this little girl is pregnant, though, she’s not prepubescent, even if she is only 11.
Jeez, and I thought it was horrible that a girl I went to school with, who got pregnant at 13, is now about to be a grandmother at the age of 27. This woman and her daughter weren’t being molested, though; they just have an appalling lack of judgement and parental control.
Another ‘story’ of sorts. When I was a kid, my mum would provide care and protection for girls who were in some sort of danger or distress. One of the girls who came to live with us had been the victim of one of her mother’s ‘boyfriends’. Apparently the mother had given the boyfriends/clients free sexual access to her daughter in order to assure her continued business.
Nicky* was just 12 years old when she gave birth to her first child. Her mother denied all knowledge (of course) and blamed Nicky for stealing her boyfriends!!
Some things are just incredibly sad.

Holy mother of God, a grandmother at 27! I’d have to say that something was going on or not going on in her family of origin (not necessarily molestation) to make this possible. That is just sad and wrong. At this rate, she could be a great-grandmother by the time she’s 40! A great-great grandmother before she’s even eligible for a senior citizen’s discount!
Considering that the girl is, as CrazyCatLady said, not prepubescent, he is something the term for which I evidently mislearned. I thought it was ephebophile, but neither dictionary.com nor m-w.com return anything for any sort of spelling of that. At any rate, it indicates love (and such) for pubescent/adolescent people regardless of gender.
What he NEEDS to be is strung up by the damned huevos and beaten with a tire iron.
And he’s 18. Good. Adult prison. He’ll be the belle of the ball. Cast iron jockey shorts wouldn’t be any help.
And when he’s been punked out by whoever gets to him first in prison, MAYBE, if he’s not too damaged to live, he’ll understand that unwanted sexual attention isn’t so damn much fun for the victim.
No, it won’t help her, but it just MIGHT change his mind. “Short eyes” (sexual abusers of children) get no break in prison. They have a hard time. The murders consider them scum, expendable scum.

I think I will wait until this thread arrives in The Pit to attempt to express my opinion on this. I also am not surprised that people did not realize, before they commented, that this was NOT in The Pit. And lastly, compelling evidence (though that would be excruciatingly difficult to produce, IMO, and bordering on impossible) to the contrary, I find it difficult to think that even the most true of Christians will find any sort of ease in praying for the male person (I wholly reject the notion that he is anything of a man. It is difficult enough to stomach that he is human) charged with this.
What appalls me the most is that she is going to have to raise this child. The end of the article talks about how her family is going to help her balance being a child and a mother to the baby!
My biggest fear as a child was that my father would get me pregnant and make me keep his demon spawn. I decided I would kill myself first.
Let that poor kid put the baby up for adoption. Good Grief.
I know a woman who became a grandmother at 29, when her 14 year old daughter had a baby boy.
I saw a Montel show where a 10 year gave birth to her mother’s roommate’s son’s child. He was 21 and in prison. He blamed the girl for “dressing like Brittany Spears and sitting in my lap.” Montel told him: Nobody can make you unzip your pants, and if it had been my daughter, I’d be the one in prison for killing you.
You have to wonder sometimes what this world is coming to.
Why do they always say “sexual abuse”? Isn’t it just rape?
I don’t get it. To me it minimizes it. Not that sexual abuse is to me considered not as serious, but it just bugs me they never call it as it is.
Zazie I believe sexual abuse encompasses a larger variety of sexual crimes than rape.
From the article this was not a one time forced sexual encounter. This was a year of such encounters and not all of them may have involved penetration (a necessity for rape but not molestation/abuse if I remember the definitions correctly)
In my case I was sexually abused for years but only raped a few times. So to just consider the times when rape happened is to belittle the rest of the acts committed during that time frame.
