Short trips - a Jimmy Buffet album.
Long trips - a Doobie Brothers album.
Shucks, I was hoping to name Bob Seeger first but No chance really.

Yello - The race
Yello - Oh yeah
White bird - It’s a beautiful day ( I’ll bet no-one remembers that)

Most of Steely Dan and the Donald Fagan solo albums
Baba o Reilly - The Who
Lots of Santana stuff.
I think I’ve picked up a few tips on these music threads so keep 'em coming.
Made for driving? Hmm…more like made for the club floor. It is a great album though. Perfect example of techno done with intelligence and soul rather than a cheap throbbing beat (though those are good too)
-Outrider
I like driving to dance music it suits riding a bike well,(mini disc player) but I thought that Prodigy might be a bit OTTT.
Anything by The Fabulous Thunderbirds should keep you rollin’ down the highway just fine.
For long drives:
Beastie Boys - No Sleep Til Brooklyn
and
Less Than Jake - Five State Drive
A lot of the other ones I was thinking of have already been named in the thread.
Have the vinyl, thanks!
DON’T FEAR THE REAPER - BLUE OYSTER CULT - MELLOWED OUT, DRIVING FULL BLAST DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH YOUR EARS STUCK TO THE SPEAKERS - MMM-MMM!
PATIO LANTERNS - KIM MITCHELL - Cute little song that your girlfriend will dig. Time to ease off on the gas pedal and put your arm around her.
MEADOWS - JOE WALSH - Coasting on a nice sunny day, alone at the wheel, grooving to the music and schlepping at the words!
THE ONLY THING THAT LOOKS GOOD ON ME IS YOU - BRYAN ADAMS - Yeah! Raunchy - floor it and move those hips!
DREAMER - SUPERTRAMP - Whoooa! Whooa! Ahhhhhh! Mmmmmm!
By the way - any Grateful Dead tape traders out there?
Red Barchetta - Rush
Girl’s Got Rhythm - AC/DC
Flirting With Disaster - Molly Hatchet
Gator Country - Molly Hatchet
Metallica’s self titled album.
Stone Temple Pilot’s Core.
Nine Inch Nail’s Pretty Hate Machine.
“Maybeline” by Chuck Berry
“Beep Beep”
“I Can’t Drive 55” by Sammy Hagar, I believe
“Just the Good Old Boys”–The Dukes of Hazzard theme song.
Beastie Boys’ “Hello Nasty” CD works as well.
…yeah, “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf, definitely.
"Call Me"-Blondie (anyone remember Julian K. (Richard Gere)tooling down the freeway in his Mercedes convertible in “American Gigolo?”)
"Legend"-Poco
"Long Train Runnin’"-Doobie Bros.
…and when it’s raining and I’m driving down PCH:
"Atlantic City"-Bruce Springsteen, “Wasted Time”-the Eagles, “The Last Goodbye”-Poco (again!) and about a bazillion others…this could be a whole 'nother topic: driving in the rain songs (?)
[embarrassing nostalgia]
These are all really daggy, but just thinking about them brings back memories of about twelve years ago when my cousin and I would go out driving on summer nights, buying pizza and sitting looking out on the ocean:
Judas Priest - Turbo Lover
AC/DC - Rock and Roll Aint Noise Pollution
Iron Maiden - Aces High
Deep Purple - Speed King
Rush - Subdivisions
Queensryche - Queen of the Reich.

HenrySpencer.
Tin Star’s “Head” is awesome.
For melancholy driving, I suggest Tonic - the whole CD Lemon Parade.
That’s all I can think of at the moment–except that Queen is fun to sing along to at the top of your lungs.
Radar Love - Golden Earring (of course.)
I Can’t Drive 55 - Sammy Hagar
Goin’ Up the Country - Canned Heat
Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynnyrd Skynnyrd (I always do when they say “Turn it up!!”)
Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry
Ones that get me singing along (very badly) whilst attempting to break the land speed record without the police noticing…
Whole lotta Rosie - AC/DC
City of Tiny Lights - Frank Zappa
Melt - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Rocking the Casbah - the Clash
Buzzbomb - Dead Kennedys
and, of course, the old standbys Radar Love and Highway Star.
I just got the Left Field CD Rhythm and stealth .
OK so it took me long enough but track 2 Phat Planet strikes me as a good driving song.
You might have heard it on the ‘white horses surfing’ Guinness ad.
So I drive to club music, why not.
For a more recent song, try “Diggin’ Your Scene”, by Smashmouth. But Steely Dan’s good too (a strange choice for someone who hasn’t even had their license for a year, I’m sure…)
I’m going to have to recommend Orgy’s remake of Blue Monday.
Aside from that,
Mission Impossible theme song, anyone?
Almost the whole Rammstein (sp?) cd Sensucht (sp, once more)
Ride of the Valkries? C’mon!
I can’t remember the name, but it was about a 7 minute long techno sounding song on Emerson Lake and Palmer’s Brain Salad Surgery album.
Faithless-God is a DJ (edit)
And just for the sake of unbelievablyfreakin’goodrecords: The Eels - Daisies of the Galaxy. If nothing else, listen to Mr. E’s Beautiful Blues. Hell, buy all 3 Eels albums.
I doubt anybody remembers this song, but remember that Transformers show? They made a movie out of it (voices of Judd Nelson, Robert Stack, Leonard Nimoy, Eric Idle), and the soundtrack was like a whole 80’s metal medley. Some band named Lion (never heard of them myself) did a remake of the Transformers theme song, and it ROCKS. A must for anybody who liked the show, but it is also a really good driving tune. I will try to find a hyperlink on the web for the MP3, since as you can imagine the Transformers have a pretty strong following on the web.
More than meets the eye.
